It's location is good; not very far from downtown and not very crowded

Good hotel, good breakfast, but not a great location. You will need to use the tram to go anywhere. Not much in the way of shops nearby.

First of all they charge you an additional city tax even though on our reservation it is noted as fare includes all taxes. Secondly the place is very far from the city. Thirdly the stuff was not helpful. They didnt tell everthing a customer should know. For example.. once you buy a password for wireless internet you need to use all minutes at once. And they supposed to call me a taxi cab for airport at a specific time but they just forget and I had to go and remind them two more times. At the end I took a taxi cab that just drop off someone to the hotel. Lastly, stuff was rude in general .

The hotel is not on a major street. There were four table lamps in the room and two of them were missing a light bulb. The shower is right on the bathroom floor (expect to flood the bathroom) and the walls of the shower compartment (between the bathroom and the rest of the room) are semi-transparent. Parking will cost you extra, but not too much. This hotel is good if you get a room at a very cheap price.

We visited the city center during our visit. We had a meal in the patio area just outside the hotel entrance-the hotel does have a small bar for light meals made there. The room did not have a bath (shower only) or a hairdryer in the room.

12 euro for parking per day is a rip off. Room was ok, but small. Window couldnt open, so couldnt get fresh air in the room which was really bad. For the price it was ok.

Having travelled and stayed in many hotels in UK and Europe, I was pleased with my choice of HEM Hotel. The room lighting was not bright enough for me, but the room and bathroom were clean and the bed was comfortable. Even with the window open at night, the noise from traffic on the viaduct opposite, was minimal and I had no trouble sleeping. However, tea or coffee making facilities would have been useful. The situation of the Hotel, in a residential area, is fine, and I never felt threatened walking to and from the Westlandgracht tram stop, even late at night. There is a 20 minute journey to the city centre by tram, but many stops of interest on the way. For eating purposes, Leidseplein has many dozens of restaurants of varying menus and prices. A vey popular area, but I had no problem finding a table at which to eat. All in all, the Hotel was ideally situated away from, but within easy reach, of the city centre and the many attractions of Amsterdam.

The hotel staff was not accommodating whatsoever . i fully regret booking this hotel for our stay at Amsterdam. If you're traveling with a family and you want to be separated from the nightlife and all that the city has to offer, then stay here. If however, you're like me, in your 20's and want to experience all of Amsterdam, definitely stay elsewhere! You need to take a tram to downtown (where everything is located) and that takes about 45 minutes and costs you anywhere up-to 8 euro daily! The hotel itself is not that nice inside, and room service comes only when they want to. Don't bother trying to eat at the hotel because you'll spend double than what you would at a restaurant. Oh and forget about staying out late because the tram stops running after around 11pm and you have to locate a night bus to take you back to this hotel (either that or a cab that can run up-to 35 euro!). Yes this hotel is cheap, but I would have rather stayed at a hostel.

The reception staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good, but it is too expensive. (Not included in the room price)

This was an ok place to stay, very very cheap rate, but the inroom wifi internet access costs a lot! The price for breakfast also made me laugh, and the dirty iron near the elevator burnt my shirt. The hotel is situated a fair distance from the number 2 tram line, and it's way out from the center of town. It's close to Schiphol airport, but you have to walk to the tram stop, take the tram to the metro stop, take the metro one stop up to Leylaan railway station, then catch a train back to the airport... not exactly convenient for the airport either! If there is a special rate and you don't mind taking the tram for a 30 minute ride to get into town, then stay here. Otherwise you'll just find it frustrating...

Staff very helpful. Did not change towels in the time we were there. No fridge or tea/coffee facilities in room.

staff was friendly and helpful took care of wakeup call and taxi to airport in a timely manner, room simple and clean. The little parklike garden was fun surprise. This hotel needs a good sign either by tramstop or in street as it is invisible from the street.(more people arriving were confused as to where it was)after a 13 hr flight you dont want to "search" for your hotel.

the hotel was nice although the location was a bit far from the sentrum. the buffet breakfast was very good at the same time varied. the beds were nice and the staff were courteous.

Although this hotel was not a grand experience, for the money, i would definitely stay here again. It's only over a block away from the tram stop and it is easily accessable to everything amsterdam has to offer,as long as you know how to travel on the tram. With all of the neighborhood offerings, I did wish they offered a microwave for guest use.
