The Hotel Helvetie is well located just a very short walk from the magnificently beautiful lake front (and the Montreux Casino if that interests you). We were happy to see lifts to our 4th floor room and delighted by the cleanliness of the facility. The best part by far was the free breakfast buffet with food that is constantly replenished. Breakfast included a wide variety of bread and pastry choices, hard-boiled eggs, fruits, meats, cheeses, yogurts, juices, coffee and tea. The wait staff was delightful and helpful. The free bus passes were another nifty perk to help get up and down the main street, including a free ride to the midieval Chateau de Chillon on the outskirts of town. There are 12 hour parking spaces and ample parking garages but it was an added expense - and parking is expensive.

staff was not helpful giving touist information, the rooms are very old and run down, beds about to fall apart and extremly small. Location is very good, right in the centre, opposite to the casino and not far from castle of Chillon.

The Hotel Helvetie was in a good location. Easy walk from the train station. Our room had a partial water view and the location of the hotel is only a block from the waterfront pedestrian path! Our room had doors that opened onto a balcony. Decent breakfast buffet too.

A reasonably well run hotel, with friendly staff. The age of the hotel building and furnishings give the hotel a "dated" feeling - but it is a hotel to which I would return - if I visit Montreux again. A free bus pass is included in the price, which is a valuable service, given the very good trolley and bus services. Wi-Fi access to the internet is provided free of charge. The cold buffet breakfast is particularly good value.

The welcome was very good when we arrived for our holiday.The staff in the breakfast restaurant were exceptionally pleasant.I look forward to staying at the Helvetie Hotel another time and I will take dinner there too;the menu looked good and was reasonably priced,but I was already booked elsewhere ecah night.

Nice old hotel. Very central. Only negative point is that curtains where not thick enough to stop the light in the morning
