My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three nights. The location of the hotel is excellent and the reception staff very helpful. We found the bed very comfortable. However what let the hotel down was partly due to a renovation program in that there were no restaurant or bar facilities available. In addition, there were no coffee/tea making facilities or a refrigerator in the room, which we found to be unusual in a hotel of this alleged standard. Initially we were accommodated in a room on the 8th floor overlooking e 42nd st but the quality of the double glazing was so poor as to appear non-existent and the traffic noise from the street was non-stop. This resulted in a sleepless first night. We were then moved to a 9th floor room at the rear of the building. The view was unattractive but at least it was reasonably quiet and we got a couple of nights' sleep. The bathroom sink in the first was cracked and the decor gave the impression that the hotel had seen better days.

Can't beat the location, we booked it at a steep discount so it's worth the price. The room is good size for NYC but the bathroom smelled like urine. The staff are helpful and friendly for NYC.

OMG I am staying there from now on every time I visit NTC. What a deal. The place was so well kept. The beds were like sleeping on a cloud. The staff is so friendly. I have never been around a more friendly staff. This is an amazing hotel! I highly recommend it!

Good Midtown Manhattan location. Walking distance to good restaurants, theater district, midtown museums (e.g., MOMA), 5th and Madison Ave. shopping. Grand Central Station and New York Public Library are easy walks down 42nd Street. Great concierge, lovely and helpful staff, attractive lobby and rooms. Nice bar.

Even though there was construction going on, we loved our stay. The staff was very friendly and accomodating - GREAT value - got the room for around $140. Location very convenient to subway via Grand Central.

Great location. Restaurant and bar closed for renovations. Only negative was that the bar and restaurant were closed for renovation . Otherwise it was in a great location and it was a good choice for the price.

I am writing this on behalf of my colleagues who actually stayed at the New York Helmsley Hotel. They were very happy to have stayed in this hotel as staff were friendly, free WIFI, walking distance to UN headquarters, rooms very clean and good quality amenities. Should the offers be right next time, I will try to book the World YWCA delegation in this hotel.

My wife and I stayed here between Christmas and New Years. It was really something special to see New York City dressed up for Christmas. Very nice hotel. Easy check in and check out, good service and extra security on the weekend. All of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was large and clean. The room could have used an additional mirror near wall outlets. We had a corner room and you could see the Chrysler Building by looking to one side and the East River on the other side. It was a beautiful view at night. The bathroom was very clean. It was a little difficult to regulate the shower water temperture and the pressurer could have been better. The hotel is one block from Grand Central station which made it very easy to use the subway system. The hotel is located in Midtown Manhattan and we fould ourselves usually walking to and from Time Square, Fifth Avenue and Rockefeller Center. We did not eat at the hotel because we usually were always on go and wanted to try different restaurants. The hotel lobby was small and could have used a few more seats while we were waiting for our ride to the airport. Overall, we were very pleased with this hotel and would recommend others to stay here.l We would stay here again.

We LOVED the hotel and will definitely stay here next timel! Our room was large, the bed was very comfortable! Nice size bathroom and closet, great window views. We have been to NYC many times and usually spend alot to stay in one of the hotels in Times Square but our room at NY Helmsley was EQUALLY AS NICE as any one of those high dollar hotels. The restaurant has a wonderful breakfast buffet or you can order from the menu. They have a bar with TV's or my favorite place was at a table by the window to watch people go up and down the street. We were also pleased that security asked for room keys before allowing access to elevators. Grand Central Station is just down the street and made it very convenient to travel anywhere in the city. A great sandwich shop and CVS is just next door. Staff were friendly and quick to offer assistance.

We usually stay outside of NYC on our trips there - but we were so pleased with both the price and location of the Helmsley. The lobby was closed (WE FEEL THAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE DISCOUNTED RATE) for a complete renovation - we hope to be able to return when it opens again.

The hotel room and service was excellent, the only downside was the room could have done with a lot more lighting, the main room, even with all the lights on, was quite gloomy.

I was thrilled with everything about the Hemsley. Check in was fast and easy. I was on the 28th floor in a corner room which had lots of windows and a spectacular view. Room service was quick and very accommodating. The room was always clean. On the weekend nights, I had to show my room card in order to get up the elevator. I thought this was a nice security measure since I am a female and alone. It was very quiet on the floor even on the weekend which was very nice. Staff were very eager to assist even before they were asked to help. It's easy to get to food places, the train station, and a pharmacy is right across the street which was very helpful for band-aids needed from all the walking.

The NY Helmsley was a great experience. Even though the lobby, lounge and restaurant were under construction it never made an interrution. The staff was A+, very nice and accomadating. We had issues with the AC but it was fixed within 15 mins. I can't wait to go back after the remodel to see the finished product. Location was perfect, 2 blocks from Grand Central Station. My (within walking distance) dinner recommendation would be Butterfield 8 and a great place for drinks, fun music and atmosphere is Legends.

That was a great hotel to stay at I would stay there again. You dont need a car in new york city to park you car in the hotel it was prices 60.00 night. I would stay there again It was very nice.

This is a wonderful hotel for seeing Manhattan. Just a couple of minutes from Grand Central, it is easy to go everywhere. Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The beds are wonderful too. We didn't get a chance to try the restaurant or bar, but both looked inviting. We will definitely try to stay there again
