This hotel comes *HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*. The Hawthorn Suites Universal (7601 Canada Avenue) is a FANTASTIC place to stay as a base for your holiday. The staff are Kind, Friendly and Very Helpful. The hotel is in easy walking distance of International Drive, where there are lots of lovely restaurants,shops and things to do. We found the hotel clean and tidy, Bedding lining and towels were changed often for clean ones. We had a rental car for the two weeks we were there (a must to thoughly enjoy a wonderful place like this) and the parking in the hotel car park was really good "lots of spaces" We will definitely be back to stay again with our family. Many Thanks to all the staff for making our stay such a FANTASTIC one. See you again soon.

The room was much better than I expected, roomy & comfortable for five people (2 moms & 3 teenagers). I didn't like the fact that they actually closed the pool at 10 pm on a Saturday night. I would highly recommend this hotel for families doing the Orlando amusement parks thing. The hotel's location is convenient enough to go back to the hotel from one of the parks for lunch & a little rest before heading back out to the parks at night. I will be more prepared next time I go with food to fix at the hotel instead of wasting money eating in the parks. The kitchen is fully stocked (except for an actual oven) and they have gas grills available for use out by the pool area. The breakfast buffet wasn't that impressive, but there was plenty of hot food (eggs, sausage, oatmeal, etc.) And it was free! The staff was very helpful & brought fresh towels immediately when requested. I will definitely stay here again.

Stayed 7 days/6 nights. When I first arrived I was under the impressoin from the online travel website site and my reservation that ALL rooms came with a kitchenette. As I checked in I was immediately told that the room reserved does not have a kitchen area! I told them I was disappointed and was under the distinct impression that I booked a suite with a kichenette. The receptionist was very nice and said she would take care of it for me and gave me a beautiful room with a kitchen area (suite, as I originally booked). Oddly, I noticed a few days later while standing near the front desk, another person incurred the same problem. So be wary of the room you book and what they actually try to put you in. Otherwise hotel was clean, staff friendly, pool perfect, breakfast buffet was great, as was the reception in the late afternoon. Location was perfect. Would definitely go back!

Don't go anywhere else, this place is fantastic. After a long day at the parks it is nice to come "home"; and I say that because it's an appartment, it has a full kitchen with a dinning room a separate living rooma with a pull-out sofabed, a big conffy chair and an armouar witha TV. In a separate room you have a nice big confortable be with a good sice closet again another armouar and a TV. In the other room you have a bathroom sync with the toilet and shower in a separate room. This place is very clena and every other day they chage the bed. In the morning the have free continental breakfast and free drink during the evening. I did not use the pool since Orlando has plenty of theme parks for that nor the gym, come on, who really wants to excercie while they are on vacation. Prime location, Universal is across the express way, sea World is 3 mile away and Disney is only 10 miles.

Great location/free breakfast. Very slow elevators (walked steps most of the time. Very nice for the price. Breakfast was crowded and was limited on the number of seats. Elevators were slow, had to walk the stairs many times. The best part was the convenience to all the parks, and international blvd.

We stayed here in Feb. 2009. We had 4 adults and the room was nice and large. We didn't feel crammed in. Nice kitchenette with reasonable amount of utensils and supplies to get us by for 5 days. We really enjoyed the free happy hour: Bud, Bud Light, red or white wine. Chips and dip or pretzels. Wasn't special, but didn't cost us anything. Pool was very nice and clean, as was the spa -- both of which we used. Great gas grills too. We bought some shrimp and steaks at the nearby Publix grocery store and grilled on the barbie (while we were gettiing free drinks from the happy hour!). The grills were connected to underground gas and had grill cleaners provided. Beds were comfy and nicely modern decor. The sink was separate from the toilet/shower so one person didn't manipulate the whole bathroom at once. Breakfast was good and included the basics: scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, juice, fruit. We took our breakfast to the patio each morning to avoid all the people inside. Staff was friendly. There's a decent laundry facility on the 4th flr and a business center where you can only print boarding passes free (otherwise there's a fee to web surf). Loved that feature because it kept kids from being on the computer for hours. Staff was very friendly and accomodated all my requests for extra towels, extra dishwasher soap, and directions. Never seemed annoyed or anything other than pleasant. Location is just 1 block from I-Drive, but do we warned that the turn onto the main street can be difficult because there's no light (they should put one in to make left turns not just easier, but possible!). Can't think of anything else bad.

Room smelled like cigarettes, complained, no other rooms. Room was SMOKE FREE. Broke out in hives while staying there. Service was terrible. Took for ever to check in or out. Buffet was terrible, food greasy, better off with Continental Breakfast. Kids never ate breakfast here. They had cocktail hour with snacks, what a joke. Kids knocking on doors two nights in a row. Kids running up and down halls all the time. They never followed through with anything.Hotel is under staffed. Asked for no service, cleaned anyways. Would NEVER STAYED HERE AGAIN.

I have always stayed at Hawthorn Suites and my stay has been great, but this last experience was awful. The room had a really bad smell, the carpet was dirty and the breakfast was exactly the same for 3 days. The towels inside the room were not clean looking. They had spots! I left a bag of shoes and called the hotel to ask if housekeeping had turned them in to office and I had not heard back from the hotel yet!!! Awful experience!!!!!!!!!!!

We were worried about the hotel, considering the great price. This was our 1st time using th online company. We were pleasantly surprised . Our room was above and beyond our expectations. The hotel was clean and the staff was wonderful. The front desk was always smiling and happy to greet us coming or going from the hotel. We had the suite and the kitchen area was big and convenient. We would gladly use this hotel and recommend it to friends and family. Thanks to my online company and Hawthorn suites.

THE SERVICES WAS TERRIBLE. i ASK FOR NON-SMOKING ROOM AND THEY GIVE ME SMOKING ROOM. I WAS WITH MY FAMILY AND THAT ROOM WAS SMELL THAT BAD ALL CLOTH GOT THE SMELL. I WAS NO HAPPY .

Was very pleased with the hotel. The rooms are big & we had own kitchen. The staff was very friendly. Really enjoyed our stay. The pool was very packed at night with a bunch of children, but it's to be expected for the summer. Nice hotel for the price

The pool was to small for the amount of visitors & wasn't clean enough. They had problems w/lack of pool towels.Hot tub didn't work at all during our stay.They have a cocktail hour but cannot do frozen drinks, just beer & some mixed drinks. Breakfast items were the same every day-no variance of selections. Also food was in shortage. Bed was hard & pillows were not fluffy. Room wasn't clean (food on the floor behind & beside couch). Room towels were in short supply (1 towel to be shared by 3 people). Only 3 handycap parking spots. The signs by the road were hard to see (brush). Had to drive an extra few miles just to find motel.

Booked this for a last minute trip to Orlando. Such a wonderful hotel. We could walk to the restaurants and not have to bother with the traffic. The room was awesome! We will definately stay there again!!

I arrived in town to attend a trade show at the OCCC. I had booked this hotel in order to be a very short cab ride away. When I arrived they informed me that they did not have a room for me and would transfer me to their sister hotel, The Enclave, which was a block away. The Enclave was so terrible I never even made it to the room, the halls were dirty and the elevator broken, so I went straight to the desk and said I needed to be somewhere that was at least suitable to a business traveler. They found space for me at a different Hawthorne Suites, which was clean and the rooms spacious. Unfortunately it was 3x as far from the OCCC so my cab fares went through the ROOF. The service was good and all the people I had contact with were friendly. However, I would not stay there again, due to the over-booking problem. I can't afford to deal with that when I travel on business.

After a much delayed flight and trying to find the hotel at 2am we were greeted by a friendly night manager that helped us in to our room. Kudos for the staff...all were eager to assist me with any questions or needs. Breakfast was great, hot, tasty and constantly being taken care of by the staff. Location was very good...very close to Universal and would recomend it to all going there but also convient to Disney's properties, dining and stores such as walmart. Overall I would give it a 9 out of ten for the type class and price range. As far as price, I say its worth every penny if you want a safe, clean and attractive place to stay. I plan to stay here or another of their properties this summer.

Hotel was quiet great beds! clean,Pool small but clean! Not a ton of chairs The breaksast was not what we wanted but Perkins is within walking distance best breakfast !! We ate there on last day wish we found it on first.

The roomwas great , service was good.I wasn't pleased with the breakfast buffet selection.The cocktail hour was pretty bad due to your lack of choices, but it was free! So I can't complain about that.Overall I would recommend to stay there.I enjoyed the location,it was in walking distance to all restaurants and shopson international drive.
