The second day we stayed at the hotel the housekeepers took our dirty towels but did not replace them. The third day, the towels were again removed, and not replaced, but the trash was not taken out and the bed was not made. We called the front desk and they said they would bring towels, but never did. We had to go pick them up.

Very customer oriented staff-great breakfast spread. Very good value. Hotel is within 10 minute drive from downtown Charleston. Not a lot of restaurants in the immediate neighborhood because hotel is a little remote. Rooms were immaculate. Hotel staff went out of their way to make our experience pleasant. The hotel had complimentary snacks and drinks in the late afternoon.

The staff at Hawthorn Suites Charleston was very nice, which makes it difficult to give such a bad review. Unfortunately the negatives were too severe to ignore. The most major concern was the cleanliness of the room - VERY poor. Upon check-in I saw hairs on the walls, floors, and shower walls. There was no toilet paper holder, instead the roll was sat on the sink next to the toilet. This roll appeared to have been sitting in water for some time as it was mouldy on the bottom. There was dirt and debris behind the furniture. The room itself was cramped, you can barely walk between the chairs and table in the den area without moving things around. The free "high speed" internet had a poor connection in our room, with frequent disconnects. Even when connected the speed was bad, around dial-up speed. We found that a connection was only possible in one spot of the room, and it was unreliable there as well. One of the curtain rods in the bedroom had come out of the wall, but instead of fixing this, the rod was set atop the other rod. This mad it impossible to draw the sheer inner curtain at all. The bed has two posts that stuck out on the far side against the wall, about 6" past the frame edge. Twice I kicked this with my bare feet while getting out of bed. On the upside, the free breakfast was nice, something that you don't find in more expensive hotels lately. The social hour in the bar with free drinks and snacks was well done too, although the person serving us was sick and it showed. We both felt bad the next day, not sure if that was related or not.

We were pleased with the quality of the room furniture and cleanliness. It exceeded our expectations. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Will recommend to our friends and family members.

We had a fabulous experience with the hotel. The separate rooms (with the attached living room) was perfect so the kids and adults could watch our separate late night programs. As my 9-year-old said: "This is the best room ever!" Front desk staff professional, friendly and helpful. Only thing is that the pool isn't open early enough in the morning. It's in a detached building so I don't know what difference it makes as noise would never impact a room. Another thing: Check-out was 11:00, and at 10:00, our room keys no longer worked and the maid was knocking at our door. They wanted us out of there! Wow.

Good clean hotel. I felt safe throughout my stay. No real complaints including the price. Staff was friendly, but overnight staff seemed overworked and too few in numbers. Staff was lean 'round the clock, but they were friendly and very accommodating toward the guests. Pleasantly surprised by the size and layout of the suite. Noise was not a problem, although you could hear people who were out in the hall, it was not a nuisance. Footsteps in the room above were audible, but not enough to be bothersome. I didn't experience noise problems like some other commentators claim to have. Had a little trouble finding "hot" on the shower tap, but after taking a cold shower on the first morning, I learned where the hot water came from by the second day. LOL! I would have no problem staying at this hotel again.

This was just a overnight stay for us, but will use this hotel for our next visit to Charleston. Located about 15 min. from Charleston and about 15 minutes to Folly Beach. We had a suite with 2 queens and a pull out couch. Our family had a lot of room. We stayed during the week and arrived ust in time fr the manager social, so nice to have a glass of wine and snacks when you arrive, breakfast was great, eggs, waffles, fruit etc. The only thing I didnt not like was the pool, it wasnt as clean as it should have been. The staff has helpful and pleasant. I will look for this hotel when I travel. Good value for the money.

We checked in about 9:30 on a Friday night after confirming our reservation earlier that afternoon. When we arrvied we were given probably the worst room in the hotel because it was completely booked. The air conditioning had not been turned on until just before we got there because it was set at 70 yet it was registering 80 degress! The room was located at the end of the hall on the 1st floor right next to the ice/vending area and an exit door which slammed everytime it was used (also the entrance to the pool was out this door so it was used often!) The "suite" was extremely small and I still wonder how they can call it a suite except for the fact that the sitting room and bedroom are seperated by a door. The walls and ceiling were so thin that we could hear the people in the next room talking and anytime anyone upstairs walked across the room. We were in town for a wedding so it wasn't worth trying to switch hotels since we were just there to sleep (although almost impossible without sleeping pills & ear plugs!) The "hot breakfast" that came with the room was about as inedible as they come. Fake tasting scrambled eggs and even more artificial sausage! Stick to the cold breakfast I was really expecting our stay to be similiar to that of a Hampton Inn, in the future we'll stick to Hampton Inn!! If you do stay here, don't say I didn't warn you.

We stayed here with my son's Cub Scout Pack. We had a great time. The first night the pool was very cold and the kids could not stay in. They had corrected the problem by the second night. The rooms were suites and they were very clean and comfortable. My son could go on to bed and we could stay up and relax in the other room. The bathrooms were nice and quite large. Breakfast was very good. We would recommend this hotel.
