Description:
Since the day it opened in 1927, the Hassayampa Inn has been a sought-after retreat for travelers desiring attentive service in a charming and relaxed environment. The hand-painted ceiling beams; wall murals; rich glazed tiling; etched and stained glass windows and doors all combine to create an atomosphere that is both warm and inviting.
Sit in the courtyard and enjoy a coffee in Prescott's temperate weather. When the weather cools sit by a roaring fire in the Lobby with a libation or listen to live jazz every night in the Cowboy Bar.
Hassayampa is a Yavapai word meaning, "River that runs upside down." The Hassayampa River runs mostly underground.

The historic Hassyampa Hotel in Prescott, AZ was a great place to spend our Christmas. when we first checked in, we found our room to be quite disappointing. It was too small for two people, their luggage, and Christmas gifts. Wanting to play cards with another couple, we asked the staff if they could set up a card table for us in the lobby. They immediately, and graciously, gound an appropriately sized table, which we, and others, used for the duration of our stay. While the Peacock Room is the only dining venue, the food is consistently above average, and the service was top rate. Being close to downtown Prescott meant we could walk to many of the excellent restaurants and interesting shops that are found in Prescott.

Although well located and a very attractive off season rate, it's not a good hotel for a business traveler. The 1920's era elevator that requires staff to operate it, loses its charm after standing around waiting for the one front desk/bell person/elevator operator/room service person to be available. The computer sitting in the lobby, (right beside the elevator where people congregate waiting for an attendant), offers no privacy. I was there for three nights and was never able to connect to my Yahoo e-mail account. The one front desk/bell person/elevator operator/room service person attempted to figure it out, gave up and allegedly left a message for manager who was never heard from. The rooms are small. If you want to read a book you either lay in bed or go to the lobby if you want a comfortable chair. It's an old hotel - the walls are thin, the floors are creaky and light from the hallway shines in your room all night from the sizeable gap between the door and the frame. This hotel is not recommended if you need to have good night's rest. Had breakfast one morning at the hotel because a local person recommended the lemon souffle pancakes. Mine were burnt. Over all a disappointing stay.

If you're looking for comfort and nostalgia this is the hotel for you. I really enjoyed my stay at this historic hotel. The lobby invites you to relax, hang out and enjoy complimentary refreshments. I got a kick out of the fact that the elevator actually requires an elevator operator, it felt like being in a movie in the 1930's. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable and the prime rib special was great.

The Hassayampa Inn is an historic hotel in the downtown area of Prescott. Location and all the common areas are super -- lots of period details. Restaurant was excellent. Tablecloths and first-class personal service made the dining experience very special. The hotel room was one of the smallest I've ever occupied. The bathroom was miniature also. But we spent little time in the room so it wasn't too important. The location is just one block from the Court House square where there are many festivals and demonstrations (we saw folk dancing) and another short walk to Whiskey Row -- a commercial area with many restaurants, galleries and boutique clothing shops. We enjoyed the visit.

Quaint and Historic. Cramped. The Hassayampa is a very quaint and historic hotel. We loved the downtown Prescott location. Our biggest complaint was that you practically had to crawl over the bed to get to the bathroom. You could not adjust the shower and there was no bath mat and I almost slipped and fell. We did tell the front about this and when we returned there was a mat, which should have been there in the first place.

This hotel seems like the most appropriate place to stay to visit the many antique shops and historical sites of Prescott. We had personal business in town and stayed when the hotel had low occupancy. When we checked in, I asked the clerk if she could provide more detail about the size and type of rooms. We had several pieces of luggage and I did not want to feel cramped. She was very helpful and told me about some of her favorite rooms and one of those was available. The one concern we had was that the old elevator was the type that needed to be operated by an employee. There was no one on duty specifically to provide this service and we took the steps rather than ask for assistance.

My stay at the Hassayampa Inn in Prescott for a business trip and short vacation in May of 2008 was a wonderful and unique travel experience. The Hassayampa is an extraordinary historic hotel. The parking was easy and secure, the landscape and gardens were beautiful, and the architecture of the building was impressive. The interior d?cor included period furnishings and some very interesting Western and cowboy art. The registration and service staff and the hotel's restaurant staff were all friendly and helpful. My room was clean, comfortable, and expressive of the hotel's traditions. While in Prescott, I ate in the Peacock Dining Room at the Hassayampa several times for both breakfast and dinner. It's an old-fashioned dining room that is elegant, but not too stuffy or pretentious. The food and service were excellent. I had a cold beer at the Inn's bar one evening and enjoyed some great jazz. I found that the prices for lodging and meals at this historic hotel were very reasonable. Importantly, this historic and really charming hotel is very near Prescott's central plaza and its many shops, galleries, cafes, and taverns. The best of Prescott is within a short walking distance. Because of its unique character and its convenient location, I vote for the Hassayampa as the best choice for a hotel while in the historic frontier town of Prescott. I love historic inns of the American West, and I recommend the Hassayampa.

The Hassayampa Inn was very historical and interesting, but the room was very cramped and the bathroom way too small. In fact, we waited until we got to our next destination to shower the next morning because the bathroom was too difficult to manipulate. You could hear other guests in their rooms and in the hallways, making it difficult to sleep. The staff was very friendly and the location was excellant for shopping and dining in the town of Prescott. The free breakfast in the Peacock dining room was excellant. All in all, it made for interesting memories, but we would not chose to stay there again.

Charming, historic, great experience. The rooms are small and the bed was very uncomfortable. Service was great, the staff were helpful and the hotel restaurant and bar were very nice. There was live music in the bar most nights and complimentary coffee and fruit in the lobby every morning. My one negative is that the beds and pillows are old and quite uncomfortable, but the experience of Prescott makes up for this shortcoming.

Lovely interior, the historic renovation deserves the recognition. The food in the restaurant was great too.

We really loved this historic hotel. The elevator was operated by the bellman as it is apparently the original from 1927 when the place was built. The lobby was beautiful and spotlessly clean. Our room was lovely with a most comfortable bed and more amenities than we expected. We found the front desk staff friendly and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant was exceptional, both in the quality of the food and also the service. The restaurant has a dress code at dinner. What a delight in todays casual environment. If you like the personal attention of a bed and breakfast, you will love this place. I know I did!

Hassayampa Inn was in need of maintenance. Although it is considered a historic building the carpets could definitely be changed. Also, housekeeping did not replenish any towels, soaps, or shampoo for the second night that I stayed. I've stayed at better hotels for the amount I paid.

The Hassayampa Inn compliments the charm of Prescott,Arizona. Precott is the image most people have of the ideal, turn of the century, Americana place to live. Beautiful scenery, ideal climate, friendly people. The Hassayampa inn with it's extrerior and interior design immediately suggests this is the place to visit. The cozy, comfortable rooms appointed with period furnishings are lovely and immaculate. The artful, detail of the lobby takes you back to experience an earlier time of gracious living. You are greeted with warm hospitality at every turn whit an eagerness to meet your every need. The charm of a most attractive dinning room raises your expectation of a special occassion and the exceptional cusine served with perfect graciousnes proves out. Will we return? We will create the reason to do so...soon.

Room was small and bland. Only one trash can for the room and bathroom. Closet was no more than a dent in the wall with a door to cover it. Bathroom was extremely small. Paid * for one night and could have gotten twice the size of room for half the price. Very disappointed.

This hotel was located along the best areas Downtown Prescott has to offer. The shops, restaurants and bars were all wonderful with some of the best service I have experienced in years! This hotel had a wonderful restaurant and bar and was well-worth the room rate.

Restaurant and wonderful food. The lobby and restaurant were clean. The restaurant food was wonderful. The room was not very clean and the ice bucket was dirty and the floor was dirty.

The staff was very nice and friendly. The room was super tiny, no pool. Couldn't fit baby bed in room. This hotel was not at all like other 4 star hotels. The room was not very clean, it was very very small, I could not even fit my sons pack n' play in there. Also, the walls were very thin, I heard people really loudly all through the night.
