This majestic hotel dates from the 17th Century and has both Jacobean and Georgian facades. In 1809 it became the house of Louis XVIII, the exiled King of France, who held his court there. Restaurant The Soane Dining room: Known for its high gastronomic standards and the excellent selection of wines. It serves mouth-watering delicacies in four large historic drawing rooms with ornate plasterwork, antique furniture and open fires. An excellent place to relax and enjoy the company of your friends. The dining room is a non-smoking zone. Trainers, jeans, tracksuits, shorts etc are not acceptable. Spa Cafe & Bar: The Spa Cafe and Bar is an informal restaurant situated in the Hartwell Spa, serving a wide range of food and drink from a cup of coffee and a slice of cake to a glass of Champagne and traditional afternoon tea. Guests may just wish to use the Spa Cafe and Bar as a quiet haven to relax and meet with friends for a cup of tea, or to enjoy a sumptuous lunch from our seasonal menu. Reservations taken. What are your breakfast options?: Full English breakfast at Hartwell House is £21.60 per person and continental is £14.35 per person. We serve breakfast between the hours of 7:30am until 9:30am Monday to Friday, and between 8:00am until 10:00 Saturday and Sunday.
What transport is available to get around?: We are on the bus route to both Oxford, which would take about an hour or Aylesbury which would take about 15 minutes. This would take you through several towns which have interesting sites, markets and shops. If you would prefer to get to destinations quicker, then we can always book a taxi for you. To get to the airport by public transport, the best option is by getting a bus from the main road just outside Hartwell House to Aylesbury and then getting a train to London Marylebone. From London you can then get the underground to most of the London airports. As for the beach, the nearest one is about two hours away if not more, therefore unless you have a car, it may be quite difficult to get to. However if you are interested in visiting the coast, then the best option would be to get a train to London Marylebone, then get the underground to London Liverpool Street station followed by a train to South End.
What can I do nearby?: We are within easy reach of Oxford, London and the Midlands. The Hartwell Spa offers a spacious indoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool spa bath, steam room, saunas, outdoor hot tub and a gymnasium and also health and beauty treatments.
