if you're thinking of making a reservation at the Harrison-STOP! The building needs to be demolished and a new, modern facility built on the property. Where do I start? 1. Elevator- ONE elevator for five floors. Guests and staff shared many rides. That is, we shared rides when the elevator worked. I was on 5th fl. Elevator rarely made it past 4th floor. I got my workouts in jogging up and down the stairs. 2. The Shower- about 3' x3'. Dirty tiles, I wore flip flops in shower and room all week. The water pressure was non-existent. Hot water was only available after running the shower 10-15 minutes BEFORE you entered the shower. And then water was never really HOT water. 3. The Enviornment- small room, aging, smelly carpets. peeling wallpaper, dilapiated furniture. NO HBO as advertiesed. 4. Morning Fruit Buffet- Three (3) mornings in a row I was advised- 'The fruit man is late. He will be here shortly!' 5. Ice machine- it was broken Ice available at front desk on 2nd fl. More exercise on the steps. 6. Construction- There was a Marriott Courtyard being built next door. It was an awesome experience to be serenated while sitting at the pool by jackhammers, drills and heavy equipment. Then 'pool boy' felt compelled to try and drown out const5ruction noise with heavy metal rock. 7. The Staff- maids, front desk were pleasent. Best part of trip. On checking out, I asked to speak with the manager about list of issues left at front deak earlier that morning. I waited 11 minutes for the manager to appear. After expresssing my EXTREME disappointment in accomadations and facilities, all I received in reply was...'I'm sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us sir. " KEEP LOOKING, PAY extra 25 for Hiliday

First the good-the hotel has a fantastic location right on the boardwalk and 15th street. the pool area is huge and very clean. staff was helpful anbd friendly.lastly the price was right for the location. Now unto the bad...the bathroom was very small and while using it i noticed it was not swept properly, so previous guests hair was plastered to the floor. Very dated rooms. Thin walls...and when i say thin I mean THIN...on one side i was able to hear a complete coversation with other guests, from the ceiling i can hear constant pounding from walking/running,and on the other side (against my headboard on the wall) I heard distinct sex sounds..from the moan and groan, to their mattress hitting the wall and back again....it was like i was in their room...not how I want to spend some time taking a nap in between my activities..If i was involved that would have been a different story, sadly I was not...I would stay again only for price, and location.

I knew going into this that the hotel was old and probably needed some fixing up. Overall it wasn't a bad experience. We were only there for 2 nights and I don't think I would want to stay there if we had the kids with us. The room was very small and the bathroom left a lot to be desired. But the hotel sits right on the board walk and it was very convienient to the sites we wanted to see. I agree that if I had paid a little more, I could have had a nicer room at a nicer hotel, but then the ambiance of a 1950's board walk hotel would have been lost.

I am a single mom with 2-kids. Yes this place is an older property, but the staff was very nice and friendly. The lobby offered games for my kids to play with and the porch with rockers was a great place to watch the ocean/boardwalk. My room wasn't large in size but it was clean. I see other reviews and I think people misunderstand older room verse clean room. The room I had was older but clean. Yes there was construction next door, but I didn't hear it until I went outside. I coming back for their guest appreciation in September, so yes I would stay again.

The hotel was ok. It was in a great location. The pool was very nice. The rooms were small and even that was ok. We didn't go to the beach to be in the room. However the bathrooms were not so great. Actually, the bathrooms were aweful. Sorry.

The overall experience of my trip was perfect, fun and relaxing but the hotel is the only thing that put a damper on things. My partner and I never wanted to go back to the room. Its was very old, outdated, uncleanly, small and very smelly!! The staff at the front desk was nice but the maids and fix it people lacked in getting a job done. The only thing we liked and enjoyed was the pool bar and bartender. Please pay the extra money and stay somewhere where your money will be worth it!!

We stayed in a side room which was rather small. We caught a glimpse of a larger room, which would have probably been much more pleasant. Given that the hotel was built around 1950, when they probably had shared bathrooms and showers down the hall, it wasn't terribly surprising that the bathroom in our room was probably the smallest I had ever been in. Maintenance has not been doing their job as evidenced by the fact that the bathroom doorknob was ready to fall off. I appears that housekeeping hasn't cleaned the windows in a long time, but the carpet was swept and the bathroom was clean. The hotel is right on the boardwalk. That's what you pay for...location, location, location. For the same price that we paid for this room, we could have stayed in a more modern hotel but had to walk a few blocks to the beach. I think it would have been worth it.

We only made ONE REQUEST - a non-smoking room. At check-in, we were told there was not a non-smoking room available. The smoke stench played havoc with our allergies the entire stay. Also, initially, it took a great deal of time to check in as Harrison Hall was not able to find our reservation. We had to pull it up online and show it to them.

In our room, 523, the bathroom door did not shut, the water pressure was terrible (you couln't get the sand out of your hair), and the temp of the water in the shower was not consistant, you would have it set then you would get scalded, and then if you tried to adjust it you got freezing water ( the girls took their fastest showers ever) . My husband wouldn't have fit in the shower at all, I'm glad he decided not to go with us, he would have been miserable. The room was a doulbe, with a single bed also. They took a double bed room took out the table and chair and added a bed. The walk between the beds was about 24 inches, we had one chair to sit in, and you couldn't see the Tv from it. The light couldn't be used if you had the vcr plugged in. We didn't spend alot of time in the room, I'm very claustrophobic, it was very uncomfortable for me. I didn't have visions of a ritzy place, but I was hoping to be able to move around the room without running into the girls or furniture. But as always we made the best of the situation, laughed about the misrepresentation of the place and had a great time,in spite of it. The personnel couldn't have been nicer (which helped the situation), and the lobby is lovely. Perhaps the hotel will continue to make adjustments for the comfort of the guest in the future.

burn out lightbulbs,no hot water at any time,5 year old takes a bath and the shower was on at the same time. ,mold on the bath room walls,Some one had flooded the room above i would say several days before we got there,so the celing had a lot of water stains.Porch was great, but the rocking chairs do not rock, lot of table games that can be played with the family and small children. NOT WORTH 180 DOLLARS.

The room was fine other than the bathroom. There was hair remaining from the last guest(s), the toilet seat wasn't secured and the shower was terrible! It took forever to get the water hot and it wasn't adjustable. It was either extremely hot or very cold. When I tried to change it to warm the water would go cold, then when I turned the cold water off it would go back to hot. I liked the pool since it had a bar although I didn't use it. It was an outdoor pool so that was nice. Good location on the boardwalk overall. Maybe I just got a bad room? Other than the shower the hotel was decent. The beach was about 10 steps away and there was a front porch which was nice.

The hotel needs a tremendous amount of renovations. It smelled extremely bad and the bed was lop-sided. The shower was tiny and overall scary.

My friend and I checked in on a Tuesday night with no problem. Except that I didn't have to show any proof that I had a reservation there except my name. We entered the room to observe that we barely had any room to unpack. When we went to shower, our hot water only existed to scald us for seconds at a time. The shower head was not flush to the wall at all and we had little water pressure. When I went to pull back the shower curtain, the rod fell down. There is no microwave and the fridge is in the closet. There were broken pulls on the dressers and chipped finishes. Only one window opened and not all of the way. There are few outlets which is unfortunate when you are two women each with a blowdryer, a phone charger, and a straightening iron. Fortunately, we were rarely in the room and were happy with the location. It's a good place to stay if you want instant boardwalk/beach access and don't mind the mess. The staff is as helpful as they can be and someone did come and try to fix the water when we mentioned it. We were also able to get clean sheets without maid service.

checked in to room and as i walked into the room i could smell the odor of a cigarette as soon as i walked in. i asked for smoke free and thats what they gave me. i didn't complain because i just opened window to get rid of smell. i wanted to shower but no shampoo or body wash was in the shower along with an empty bottle from someone else's stay. staff wasn't nice and acted like i was lying. i know other places would have apologized and offered me something right on the spot but i had to wait 20mins for someone to come do something.
