The location was very nice - within walking distance of the shops, restaurants and docks.

How nice it was to go to New England and stay at this wonderful hotel. My wife and kids had a great time in the heated pool that overlooked the Bar Harbor Bay. We highly recommend this location and will come back soon.

wonderful location, beautiful HEATED pool, friendly staff, no complaints - you can walk to anyplace in town. Found a great deli on Main Street - Since the rooms are so large and this is a resort area where people stay more than one night it would have been nice to have a small refrigerator and microwave. The hotel restaurant looked great but expensive, we found wonderful dining within easy walks, however. We also enjoyed the Lulu Lobster boat tour parked right next to the hotel.

My husband I and I just returned from a 3 night stay at the harborside and we had a wonderful time. We stayed on the second floor in a island view king room. We would definately select this same room type again, the view was far better then that of the other less expensive rooms. Highlights: perfect location (no need to drive at all), extremely friendly/helpful staff, great breakfast, the room was even bigger and nicer than expected, very comfy bed, quiet. The few negatives that we noticed were minor: some stains on the carpet in room and hallway (but room and hotel were very clean overall), the water in the shower did not get vey hot in the morning. Some of our recommendations (if you are interested)...If you would like to do a short, moderate hike while you are there we recommend the great head trail. It is about 1.5 miles and has some great views. There is a * charge to enter acadia, but that charge lasts the whole week. The view from the top of cadillac mountain is amazing, great for taking pictures. We had a great seafood dinner at Galyn's in town. Moderately priced, good atmosphere but not too stuffy, great service, great lobster, good wine selection. We will definately eat there again on our next trip. For light/casual fare we ate at Rupununi's. It was a fun bar with a good beer selection. We had steamers, wings and clam chowder, all were excellent. The service was quite slow though, but we sat at the bar the second time and it was a lot better. Overall, great hotel, great location, great trip- we will definately be back.

This hotel has an excellent location and was very nice for our family of four. Our room had two queen-size beds and plenty of extra space. Room had a fantastic view of the harbor. The location was also very convenient. All of Bar Harbor is an easy walk and since parking is at a premium in the town it was really great to park at the hotel and not have to worry about the car. The only time we needed to drive was when we went to Acadia which is close but not really walkable. I would definely recommend this property and we would definitely go back again.

In summary, for the price of this hotel, I expect good to exceptional service. Instead, the service at this hotel was THE WORST I have ever experienced. We reserved a room with a king bed and a balcony to celebrate our one year wedding anniversery. When we arrived we were checked into a room with a double bed in the damp basement with no apologies. Upon informing the front desk staff that the room was not as we reserved we were told that was all that was available, but we could move the next day. We were not given any compensation for the fact that we were given a room far below our expectations and what we had reserved other than a * deduction off of the rate we had booked, which I am certain was at least what they would regularly charge for this room anyway. Requests to speak to a manager were refused. Then to top off the experience, when we received our final bill they had actually added * per night to the rate we booked and were argumentative when we disputed the charges. Cleanliness was also incredibly disappointing as there was a moldy shower curtain in our room. The hotel has probably the best location in Bar Harbor, but it is not worth the hastle and poor management to stay here.

These accomodcations exceeded my expectations by far. The ammenities including a beautiful outdoor pool and heated spa were meticulously maintained and overlooked the harbor. We dined at the hotel restaurant for breakfast and dinner and it was delicious. The entire staff was both professional and friendly. Internet access is available in the lobby along with overstufeed furniture placed right in front of a georgous fireplace. When we return to Bar Harbor, we will only stay at the Harborside Hotel and Marina!

This hotel has the amenities of a large city with the proximity for great hiking (from easy to difficult) walking trails, biking, dining shopping and/or just plain getting away to relax. The room had plenty of room; good closet space, vanity separate from bathroom shower area to allow two people the opportunity to get ready at once. There was the hair dryer, ironing board, and if you forgot to bring something, it was available upon request.

While the hotel's location is convenient because it is at the base of Main Street on the ocean, the rooms are small and have no views. One whole level is eye to eye with the parking lot and the sunset view overlooks the street. There is alot of construction next door so the sound of air powered nail guns is pretty much constant from 8 to 5. Coffee service in the lobby (there is a charge) ends at 11. There is an annoying advertising loop for whale watching going by the fire. The hallways are confusing and parking was difficult several days.Pricey for what you get. The staff was helpful.

This hotel is beautiful and in prime location to everything. We checked in for three nights and were pleased. Our room was large and sunny. I will say that the room was dirty. Old nasty stains on the nightstand, toothpaste marks on the mirrors, urine on the toilet and I'm not talking about only under the seat. It was dried on everywhere. Many surfaces were dusty. Yuck!! I had left notes for housekeeping on several tables asking for additional trash cans. They left my notes and never gave one up. Maybe they did not understand English? I was able to clean up the mess myself (enough to deal with it). The rest of the dirt and grime was there day after day. On our last morning there as I got ready to shower I discovered that they never refilled our towels! I called the manager, who was really nice and explained my laundry list of complaints. He did nothing for us, only an empty offer of if you ever stay here again, give me a call and I'll make sure that your room is clean. Wow....how nice of him. We would stay there again for the beauty of the location, islands and walking distance to everything and maybe by then Housekeeping will learn their jobs, the messy construction debris on the property will be finished, the dock that was placed in the center of the parking lot (making parking on the property impossible) will be gone and that nice little manager will have our room clean.
