You couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Views were wonderful. The restaurant was excellent. Condos were at the end of road so it was out of the hussle bussle. Spa was wonderful. We would go back in a heartbeat. Mike and Deb

This was a wonderful place to stay. I really got to feel what it is like to stay right by the ocean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you are bringing children, try to stay on the bottom. Rude people complain about noise. They think it is only their vacation. They don't care about the fact that it is your vacation too. I would also recommend seeing the Napali coast by helicopter or boat ride. Waimea Canyon was also awesome to see. If you go enjoy every minute of it.

Pretty bad. Stayed here for our honeymoon in late June/early July and the service was terrible. Staff made us feel like a honeymoon is an everyday event, like brushing your teeth. We booked in February and requested a quiet upstairs unit. We called again two months later to ensure our request would be followed. However, when we arrived the staff said they were completely booked and the room on the first floor close to the office/trash/parking lot was the best they could do. We should have left right then and there, but we had nowhere else to go and we'd be spending most of our time on the beach or hiking the Na Pali Coast anyway so we capitulated. Turns out our room was across the way from a family of three kids (one an infant). Not exactly relaxing noises as you try to catch a sliver of ocean view while sipping your morning coffee. Obviously we let the staff know that we weren't satisfied and hoped to be moved to a different room if one should become available. No dice. Instead, two nights into our five night stay they put a family with FOUR kids (and their tromping feet) directly above us. If you want a lesson in parenting and a new form of honeymoon birth control then Hanalei Colony Resort is the place for you. If you want rest, relaxation, and romance then suck it up and pay the extra cash to stay at the Princeville Resort.

We went here for our honeymoon. The area is spectacular, best spot on the island. The condo was beautiful and perfect for my husband and I. We woke up everyday to the view of the ocean and surrounded by paradise. It was very quiet, perfect for a romantic get away. It is away from the mass tourists and makes you feel like its your island. The room had everything we needed. We didn't use the restaurant, mostly because we ate in alot. The staff here is great. The room was very stocked so we didn't need much from them. However after we left, we realized that we left behind a brand new shirt we had bought for a gift. One call to the hotel and they mailed it and a watch we had also left behind. Absolutely fantastic.

We had a wonderful stay. Although the rooms are NOT air conditioned (did not know this), it did not matter, as the tradewinds kept our room cool. We were only 20feet away from the beach and could watch the sunrise from the bedroom of our suite. Great for kids as they would have their own bedroom and bathroom. Awesome location next to Ke'e beach and the kalalau trail. Would stay again. great value.

One of the most beautiful locations anywhere; setting was even better than expected. Apartments have been remodeled and refurnished in good taste, with a lot of space. Two couples could easily stay here, and for two people it was very comfortable. Great for people who plan to stay awhile and want the convenience of a kitchen, two full baths and lots of room, with maid service included. The ocean was right outside the lanai. Staff was helpful and friendly. We would stay here again, next time in the late spring and for a longer time. Not for people who want television, wifi, music, lights and nightlife. Close enough to all water sports activities except boat tours of the Napali Coast, which leave early in the morning from the other side of the island. Water can be a bit rough in autumn. Note that this is the rainier side of the island. The one-lane briges take some getting used to.

Hanalei colony resort is located at what must be one of the most beautiful places on earth. The north shore of Kauai is an exotic tropical location. Hanalei colony resort's premium ocean view is literally steps from the beach. It is a tranquil location perfect for unwinding from the stress of everyday life. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. There are several world famous beaches within miles that offer a safe beach experience for the entire family. Ke'e Beach was our favorite .... it is absolutely breath taking and is at the end of the road, bordering the NaPali coast. The swimming pool while not fancy was enjoyable and not crowded. We especially enjoyed Lei making with some of the staff. They have a game and book exchange which was nice. Staff was great.

"Stayed at Hanalei Colony Resort the first week of March. Could not have asked for a more beautiful, secluded location. Our condo was well equipped, and nicely furnished. The staff was friendly, and helpful. Would advise upgrading to premium ocean front room or oceanview room. My only complaint would be the smell fron their septic system at the back of the complex. There are more fashionable resorts on the island, but none can beat this one for peacefulness and beauty of location. HCR is the most peaceful place I've ever enjoyed."

Our last minute trip to Kauai's North Shore could not have been more perfect. Our daughter's wedding was planned right down to the officiant and license by the resort. All we had to do was show up and RELAX, which thanks to our hosts, we were able to do. Quiet, unspoiled, clean, secluded slice of Paradise. Amazing views outside every window and patio! Right out of the movies, Really! We cannot wait to go back there for ourselves! Usually the pictures on a hotel site are flattering to say the least. In this case, there is no way to capture the beauty of their setting. Hanalei Colony Resort is an amazing value. We will not even think of any other place to stay when we return.

"This is ""Old Hawaii"" at its best. We have never found a better place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Hawaii. Hanalei town is a short ride away and has everything we needed from quaint little shops to world class dining. We already plan to go back next year."

"Perfect location to the best beaches, Lumahai, Tunnels & Haena Beach. The rooms have a warm and rustic down home feel, being tucked away on an island, with comfortable and quality amenities. The restaurant had wonderful authentic Greek cuisine and lovely coffee shop with fresh bagels and pastries situated in a small gallery highlighting local artists. The spa offers morning yoga and various treatments & massages. This is an unspoiled and serene diamond in the ruff surrounded by all of Kauai?s beauty. Perfect if you just want to get away from it all! "
