In the 1950's Elkhorn became known as the "Christmas Card Town" when a greeting card publisher chose a series of holiday images of Elkhorn as Christmas cards. Elkhorn still commemorates this holiday tradition, commissioning a new Christmas card painting by a local artist each year.
