Awful. One of the worst hotel stays ever. We were there 5 days. We normally stay on the Island and will in the future. Rude and complacent staff. Filthy rooms, bugs everywhere, beach a mess, food awful. I don't have one good thing to say.

This place is like a nightmare starting with the manager or as my wife called it the monster at the front desk. He was greasy looking and scared my kids. The rooms smelled like a sewer but its not so bad if you like those kind of amenities.

As always Mackinaw City did not dissapoint. From the wonderful accomodations at the Hamilton Inn, to the historic sites like the recently decommissioned Coast Guard Cutter "Mackinaw", to the everfriendly international staff all over town. Mackinaw City is the perfect place to unwind, and enjoy the best that Michigan has to offer.

My family of three arrived very late, the front staff was very friendly and quickly checked us into the hotel. Our room was not lakeside--since we were coming in late and leaving early-it was a terrific price for the less than 9 hours we were checked in. The room was very clean, (a bit of too dark decor) and had a good layout of the furniture. The continental breakfast was good as far as the hotel breakfasts go. My three year old was thrilled with her eggs and biscuits. I would definitely recommend staying here again.

The hotel was very nice and located adjacent to the ferry docks.

I stayed here with my Fiance in a jacuzzi room with a patio (room 109) and it was perfect.... When we arrived the evening of our arrival we were greeted with a warm friendly staff who was very nice and helpful... Our room was very nice with a very nice view and a nice size jacuzzi...In the Morning we had their hot breakfast bar and it was great! we enjoyed our stay very much so and look forward to visiting again in the future and we highly recommend this hotel to everyone who is visiting the area for any reason...

We have stayed here several times this time was alittle disappointing. Hopefully they read there comment cards and improve, But its still a great hotel.

Three people recommended this hotel but it was very disappointing. The front desk staff was rude. I've had 3 conversations with different employees at the front desk, so it wasn't just someone having a bad day. The room we had was adequate and the view (beach side) was wonderful. The problem was we were close to the Star Line water taxi location. Nice to board quickly but 7am they start up the boats and they idle for about 1/2 hr. Our room was filled with exhaust the first morning. (We closed our windows the next evening but I missed hearing the waves of Lake Huron all night.)There are many other hotels to choose from and some are much newer than Hamilton. Go somewhere else!

Unfortunately our stay wasn't very pleasant. The sheets on the pull out had not been changed from the previous guest. The registration staff was not very friendly and made me feel like I was an imposition - just wanted to get me registered and on my way. On checkout, the staff (3) were gossiping(negatively)about the management staff while I was in the checkout process - just going through the checkout motions with me while carrying on a very unprofessional conversation with co-workers. I work in a service industry and am very sensitized to customer service and this was NOT!! I wanted to ask for a discount when I checked out but didn't get the feeling that anyone would care.

8% tax charge anything you buy from hotel, including room. Pool screens wouldn't open, full of spiders and webs on screens, no cirucualtion in indoor pool area, beds were awesome, posturepedic beds in rooms. staff was nice until we checked out a night early cause we wanted to go home. the woman behind the desk was very rude with us and seemed appauled that we wanted to leave early. I was very suprised by her behavior. Good area for walking around town. Excellent restaurant nearby called the Blue Water Grill & Bar.

Nice pool and hot tub, clean, comfortable, larger than average rooms in a great location right on the beach right next to the ferries to the island and also within walking distance to Macinaw Crossings shopping and restaurants. Staff is pleasant, helpful and friendly. Willing to stop and give directions or info with a smile even if they are busy. The hot breakfast is outstanding and is served in an attractive room on the third floor with lots of windows. They have a waffle bar, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy as well as cereal, toast, bagels, donuts and fruit. The room doubles as a business meeting room and it is large enough to accommodate a large group easily. The room was clean and hair dryer, iron, coffee maker and higher end soap and shampoo were provided. The bed was comfortable with a firm mattress and great pillows. Everything was fresh smelling but not perfumed and in good repair. The heater in the room adjusted well and did not bake or freeze and was quiet. I liked that they allowed dogs as I usually travel with one. A designated dog potty area would have been nice but we made do with a fire hydrant and our own plastic bag. This is a great place to stay. At check in they upgraded us to a lake view room at no extra cost just because it was available. I would definitely return here and recommend it to others.

We were given a 'non smoking' room that smelled very strong of smoke. It was also a disabled room and the shower worked very poorly. The free breakfast was much better than expected. You can get a free wristband for the indoor waterpark down the street. It is right next to the ferry boats to Mackinaw Island, so you don't have to drive anywhere. It looks nice from the road and hopefully the other rooms were better than the one we got.

When we arrived at about 4:45 PM the room they assigned us was not cleaned yet, the cleaner came from the next room and got help because the front desk was having us wait for our room instead of assigning another. We brought our Wire Fox Terrier since the Hamilton was one of the hotels that allowed pets and at checkout found a sign in the lobby that said NO PETS. When I questioned them, they said they recently changed the policy. When we checked in, they knew we had a dog. We asked if there was a deposit. The only reason we chose that hotel was because of their pet policy. We would not go there again.

We enjoyed our stay here alot. The room was very clean and the beds quite comfortable. Of course our children enjoyed the pool the most. The ladies who kept our room up were so pleasant and willing to help with anything. We had a wonderful view and access to Lake Michigan. It was right next to the Star Line Ferry that takes us to Mackinac Island. The only thing that really disappointed me was the breakfast. I thought it could have varied a little and been more kid friendly. A fruit topping for the waffles with whipped cream would have been nice!

Of course you don't know what to expect for your first time and never seeing the hotel inperson. But let me tell all of you, I think we picked a GREAT PLACE to stay. Highly recommended ! ! !

The Hamilton Inn was a very nice clean hotel. It was walking distance for shopping, dining, entertainment, and the ferry is right in the hotel's parking lot. The free waterpark was right across the street which made things easy w/the children. The beach and pool were very nice and clean. They probably could use a few more chairs on the beach. Really the only thing is the workout room wasn't what I expected. It was a very small room with only 4 machines. The free breakfast every morning was wonderful, more than I expected. Overall, we were very happy with this hotel. We were only suppose to be there for 2 nights and ended up booking another night. Were looking to go again next year!

The Hamilton Inn in Mackinaw City is a great place to stay for the value. It is located right by the Docks to Mackinaw Island and within walking distance of all the tourist shops and restaurants in the area. The room had a great view of the water and the Island. A great place to stay for both types of stays: Family with the kids or just a get-away with the wife. The Hotel had free access to a water park across the street and it's own pool at the hotel. You don't even have to find breakfast in the morning because it is provided by the hotel. Great value!

The Hamilton Inn is within walking distance from many family oriented activities and summer entertainment in Mackinaw City. The Inn is located adjacent to the Mackinaw Island ferry docks. Inside the room, we found an ample size television and a refridgerator. The walkout patio overlooked the Straits of Mackinaw and was comfortable for reading or just relaxing. We also had plenty of storage for both hanging and folded clothing.
