The secluded location of the resort is both a blessing and a curse. The beachfront grounds are huge meaning you can holiday in peace despite the large number of rooms (though did not feel busy at all when we were there). On the otherhand you have to be a person who does not mind staying within a resort to enjoy a holiday here since taking a taxi anywhere will cost an arm and a leg. Restaurants and all the extras will add up on your bill very quickly, however definitely recommend a dinner at the Sugar Mill which was comparatively good value; we had a fantastic meal we had there.

My wife and I spent four nights in a suite in the Hibiscus part of this beautiful resort. Every morning we opened the wide glass doors so we could hear the sound of the surf. The doors opened onto a generous shaded patio less than ten steps from the beach. I need to stay accessible by email, and our room had a high speed wired internet connection. (I tested it at a speedy 3Mbs.) I brought my own portable wireless router so we could sit on the patio and read the online papers from back home. The grounds are meticulously kept, and there are a variety of activities offered, including kayaking, bicycling, tennis and golf. Staff were uniformly gracious and welcoming. Some resorts are all-inclusive for all guests and you can truly put your wallet in the room safe for the duration. Here you can buy drinks and meals packages, but we kept a pocket full of small bills for tipping staff. Given our short stay, we ate exclusively in the on-site restaurants. The only unfortunate part of our stay was the intestinal bug I got the day before we left, after dinner in the Sugar Mill Restaurant. I had to stay in bed for almost 24 hours straight. I?d packed Imodium and antibiotics, and was glad I did.

Old world elegant, beautiful location, very spacious accommodations, fabulous beach, out standing food at the Sugar Mill Resturant. Very relaxing! There were no dislikes. Excellence location on a beautiful crescent beach. Well appointed villas, suites and rooms. All activities on property; watersports, golf, spa, shopping and fabulous restaurants. Friendly and professional staff.

From the moment we arrived on the beautifullly manicured grounds, we felt peaceful and pampered. The room was lovely and comfortable. We had a beautiful view. Food was delicious, particularly at the Sugar Mill. This is a beautiful, historic property with miles of beach. You don't feel crowded and it is not loud. You can get away from it all at Half Moon Bay. Service and spa are great too. We will be going back. This is probably not the place to go if you are looking for a wild nightlife, but it is the place to be for relaxation, pampering, great service and a beautiful environment.

There is not enough that I can say about the Half Moon other than my husband and I have travelled all over the world, third world countries included, and the half moon comes as close to perfection as either of us can imagine or hope for. We would move in if that were a possibility! Excellent location, service, beautiful old world hospitality, great food and enough lovely activities that it would take three weeks to do them all. It turns out that this is where the royal family in Britain stay in the islands and we can see why. We''ll take our children and grandchildren here. The fitness center rivals our home Equinox. Tennis, horseback, golf, every watersport including a dolphin swim (amazing, and a better buy than Tahiti or Hawaii), music (three groups) every night. All at a truly affordable price...YAY!!!

Have visited Jamaica many times over the past several years and stayed in various resorts and stand-alone hotels. This is by far the best experience I've ever had. Glad I found this. Stayed because of special Fall rate being offered but would stay again in a heartbeat for the regular prices...well worth the money.

This was our second vacation at Half Moon. We first visited in July 2005 and, most recently, in November 2007. We were blown away the first time, and our second visit was equally impressive. On our first stay, we were celebrating our anniversary and Half Moon generously upgraded us to a Royal Suite located right on the beach. This time, we stayed in a Junior Suite, again right on the beach. Each time the crystal blue water was about 15 steps from our patio! My husband and I cannot say enough about Half Moon. Every type of activity imaginable is offered at the gorgeous 400 acre resort. You have no reason to leave the property! On each of our visits, we have found the staff to be incredibly accommodating and helpful. We have travelled to some beautiful places in the Caribbean, and we both feel that Half Moon ranks very high as far as a must experience destination. We will certainly return.

My stay at Half Moon was one of the most enjoyable travel experiences. The staff was extremely accomodating and every detail for comfort was in place. All facilities were pristeen in cleanliness. I was extremely satisfied with the luxury accomodations which are so very different from typical hotel stays. Even the on-site beach was kept clean as one could see staff early in the morning raking the sand and sweeping the boardwalk. Although I was travelling alone I felt completely safe at the resort which was most important. This will definitely be a repeat destination.

This Hotel was the nicest place I have vacationed. The staff are extremely friendly and helpfulI would go back again (and will). The food was not the greatest and not alot of selection but was well presented and good service. The only problem we had with this place is that we didnt stay another week or 2. My kids did not get bored (ages 11 and 14) which is usually the case. I would advise anybody to get the good life package because it really is all inclusive. I kept waiting for the hidden costs but they never happened. I would delfinately give this an A+ as an all around great place to be. Some people told me it was very dangerous in Jamaica so I was a little sceptical but I never felt my kids and I were in any danger at all. But we also stayed in the resort didnot go into the town. It was a very relaxing place to be with no worries they treated us great

Thr hotel was beautiful and in great condition. The staff was very friendly and they were well staffed maintaining the property and taking care of the guests. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. The property itself was gorgeous and well laid out. The only negative is that the food and beverage was pretty expensive.

We had our honeymoon here in 1978 and have been going back for 30 years. This coming Jan will be 31. This is Paradise. From the beach to the villas to the food, shopping, staff & frogs peeping in the trees at night, everything is perfect. No wild nightlife but everything else you could want all on 400 beautiful acres. We like the fact that this is a sophistocated, Jamaican style resort not a homogenized hotel that could be found almost anywhere else (read her the Ritz Carlton). The friendly staff is outstanding and part of the reason the resort is so comfortable and inviting. Swimming beach is nice as are the numerous pools. You won't be disappointed!

I went to Jamaica for a wedding. The wedding party and guess all stayed in Villa's. The rooms needed some updating but the staff was wonderful. It you visit and stay in a villa (91). Ask for X (Butler), Y (Cook), and Z (Housekeeping). They are a great team and made our stay one that we will never forget.

This resort is absolutely beautiful! The food is good, yet quite pricey...so bring enough $$$. Being in a warm tropical climate, we did see a few critters including a baby lizzard in our room. The rooms are clean and the resort staff is very friendly. Lastly, considering the fact the royalty/presidents have stayed at the Half Moon, the should be a hint that this is not a place for people on a tight budget. Again bring enough $$$ to enjoy your stay. Lastly, the duty free shops are a great place to pick up a piece of jewelry, fine watch, etc. If you are use to the nicer things in life this place is for you, just look out for the critters.

I cried when I left!!! The property is first rate. I traveled with my 16 yr old daughter and we had a blast! The staff is outstanding, the food to die for and the sunsets are truly breathtaking. See you for Thanksgiving!

I love the homey feel of the cottages. I was fortunate because my room was upgraded when I arrived at the property. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My suite was nice, clean and close to the beach. I plan to visit again really soon. I will most definitely recommend it to my friends.
