I have stayed at Hacienda many times and always enjoy it. The staff is very kind and wants to please. The courtyard pool is very pretty and the Beach Club is in a great area of the beach and offers good food/snacks and drinks. The Hacienda is located near the airport, near the marina, near Wal-Mart and Soriana, with several restaurants and clubs nearby. It is just a short bus ride to downtown. The hotel is older, but in good repair and is hacienda style with all the rooms around a large courtyard. Each room has typical Mexican decor and a balcony. The hotel is generally quiet and attracts a lot of Mexican families. It is a wonderful cultural experience. There is even a family of iguanas that live in the courtyard. Wht more could anyone want? It is not, however, a Marriott or a Ritz. If you want a clean, friendly,local type hotel, Hacienda is great.

It is a nice but old place. Staff very friendly. On bus route, good access to everywhere. 2 star facilities with broken tiles, non-working utilities. People were courteous and helpful. The lobby looked good and there was a bus stop right outside to go wherever you want. But the rooms were very old and run down. It had a musty smell and I really wished I had a candle or room freshener. The bathroom had a bidet, a toilet and a dug out hole in the floor to act as a tub. It looked quaint but it was not good. The tiles were dark and chipped and soap did not come out from the big soap dispenser they had. Would definitely not want to sit in the "bath tub" for the bed, they put a concrete slab and put a mattress on it. They then nailed a headboard to the wall to make it look like a bed. The bed was comfortable but hard. Definitely a 2 star hotel. I would not have stayed there nor will stay there again as I want more comfort.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel and at check-in the lady at the front desk couldn't speak a wink of English. Yes, I understand we were in Mexico but this is a resort in Puerto Vallarta where mainly English speaking guests come to relax. After attempting to understand bits and pieces of what she said, she then proceeded to tell us that we would be put in one room that night with two beds, which I booked a room with one king size bed, and then have to get up early the next morning, pack our stuff again and move to another room. Unacceptable. We then talked with the supervisor and she did end up accomodating what I had originally booked. To top that off we were put next to a room that was under construction. We awoke the next morning to a hammer pounding on the wall at 8 am. This went on until we finally got up and left. I woke up both mornings to the awful smell of paint and paint thinner which made it very difficult to sleep. I would not recommend staying here to anyone, especially people between the ages of 21 and 35. We were surrounded by people aged 55-75. Very bad choice.

The rooms were pretty nasty very uninviting,but for 50 bucks a night who can complain. Huge iguanas roaming the grounds added a little to the trip the staff was friendly but I left my sandals near the pool and they were stolen "most likely by whomever was cleaning the area".

When we arrived at the Hacienda Hotel and spa, we were treated well and satisfied. We had a bad experience after that. We went down to the beach for a short time with our son and daughter in law. My wife left her purse in the room by the sink in the bathroom. When we got back it was gone. The room was locked, and we are sure that it must have been taken by an employee of the hotel. Otherwise, Hacienda was fairly good.

Everyone encountered spoke passable English. I agree that most of the people at the hotel were of an older generation, but my friends and I (though we were on college Spring Break) did not want to have anything to do with stereotypical Spring Break-ers, so it wasn't a bad thing for us. Food and drinks were a little more expensive than out in town, but not much more. There was a relatively large grocery store at the end of the block that we used for breakfast (and toothbrushes/toothpaste when the American Airlines lost our luggage for a day) which had a ATM. Being closer to the Melacon would have been nice, but it was a 15 peso bus ride (the busses are only scary from the sidewalk). The rooms weren't perfect, but they were clean. The landscaping was great. The spa was great (and only ended up being about $40 American for a 50 minute massage). Not many families when we went; we only saw maybe 3 kids under 16. The staff will try to send you to touristy places, so if that is not what you want, take a 40 peso taxi ride to old town and visit some of the local bars and restaurants. Overall, we had a great time. Puerto Vallarta in general was pretty fantastic.

i purchased all inclusive meal plan... i would really recommend it the food was good and there was no limitations at all. whatever i needed the staff got it for me, they were so nice ! i read some reviews before we stay and some said the beds were super hard and ther werent!!! you get what you pay for and i was expecting bad but every thing was great !!

nothing food, no elevator, too little information in writting Hacienda Hotel is rated 4 stars and I think 4 stars hotel is too high for this kind of hotel, it should be rated about 21/2 stars.

The Hacienda is not beachfront, which is the only real negative I can report. They are very close to the beach and they do run a bar and grill on a section of beach, designated for their guests. The also run a shuttle back and forth (2 blocks distance) all day long, so it remains quite convenient. The staff were great, the service was great, and the food was consistent (not "Excellent", but good). I had a great week at the Hacienda and will look for it again when vacation browsing.

We love this small local hotel. Hope the mega condos don't take it away. Hotel staff are so great for our every need. Food is good well cooked any thing to please us. We understand it is not located on the beach but the 5 minute (sometimes less) walk to the beach is so educational to the native culture. Why ride the shuttle one block. If you travel to Mexico you should learn what makes it so great the people. We understand this hotel is not the newest but what do the newer hotels have that this one does not. Its clean as a pin. I could sleep on the floors. The old tile work is amazing. Pool is clean. has its own private beach. What more could anyone ask for. We Will go again.

My husband and I stayed here on our first trip to Puerto and it was very good. The rooms were older but clean. The food on their buffets was GREAT! The activities by the pool were fun too. The only down side is that you have to walk about a block and a half to get to the beach but they even provide a free shuttle! All around it was was definitely the bang for our buck!

The Hacienda is a truely Mexican experience. The staff is warm and friendly and will do anything they can to help you enjoy your stay. The courtyard areas are beautiful and the huge pool is great. Though there is construction along the 2 blocks to the beach, once one arrives at the beach club, it is worth the trip. Playa d'Oro is good for swimming, or just watching the surf and the beach club has good drinks, snacks and water activities if one wants to join in. Loungers and towels (available at the pool area of the hotel) are provided and the beach is active enough to enjoy watching, but quiet enough to just relax. Though there would be a few rocky spots, one can literally walk to town from the Beach Club, have a drink or lunch and return via a local bus. Quite an adventure. Hacienda is not for the "Marriott" crowd, but is certainly a good bargain for those who want to immerse themselves in the local culture. I love it and continue to return year after year.

Our stay at the Hacienda was a great experience. Other tha the hard beds and overpriced restaurants, the stay was memorable. I'd like to comeend especailly all the staff as being freindly and most helpful
