tatty hotel with great service This is a cheap and cheerful place to stay - the night porter is fantastic for people arriving late and could not be more helpful. The breakfast is okay - but avoid the sausage which lets down the food badly it has a low meat content

Like a trip back to the 70s (but in a good way).This was like no other hotel I have stayed in before. The whole building outside and in was like something from the 1970s. It wasn't tatty or drab as such and I actually quite liked the quirkiness of it. Very central and convenient for food and entertainment. Enjoyed staying here and will use again.

Cheap and CheerfulLooks a bit grotty from the outside and in the corridors but the rooms are good enough for the money. A decent night's sleep, a nice cup of tea in your room and friendly staff. A good, cheap room after a cracking night out in Sheffield.

Great as a baseSlightly worried before hand due to bad comments but wasn't as bad as I expected. Ok, it's due for a refurb but it was clean enough and great as a base. A couple of minutes walk to the City Hall so fantastic for us. Noisy with windows open due to late night revellers.Efficient staff on reception and free car park. What more could you want for the money. I'd stay again with no worries.

Great LocationWe were attending the City Hall , the hotel couldn't have been any closer. It could do with a good refurb but the room ws clean and that's all that bothers me. Room very spacious and actually had windows that opened. We were expecting a bit of noise but we were in bed before the stags rolled in I never heard a thing, though we had to shut the windows.

Poor Customer ServiceOur fault for leaving a mobile phone in the room but despite repeat attempts requesting someone to take a look for it following our departure no one was interested. We know where the phone is but no one there cares.Very Poor customer service

Grovenor House Hotel This hotel is very tired and not sure if they have just acquired it as it did not appear in their hotel guide. The room although large was not very convenient as the double bed was push right up against the wall making getting in and out difficult and especially for an older person, a reconfiguration of the layout is needed. It was also very noisy, disco across the road going on until 4 00 a.m. so not much sleep. This was conveniently missed out of the hotel information we looked up on their web site. The breakfast was fine, no complaints there. The young lady on reception was excellent.

went to sheffield and stayed here for my hen night! It was great for what we payed and needed it for! All I have to say is dont be put off by the outside of the hotel or the lift! The rooms are brilliant for sleeping and washing what else do you need!

A tied hotel, in need of a face lifed

hotel was cheap and cheerful, looked very grotty from the outside and the parking looked scary. However for £90.00 for the two of us for 2 nights though was kind of what we expected. Rooms nothing like the pictures and club outside very loud at letting out time.

Location locationI stayed here as was going to a gig at the Corporation, absolutely perfect location as the venue was about 3 minutes walk away! Hotel also had a car park which was free for guests. Had to leave the window open as the radiator was on, and it was a hot day, which made it bit noisy with traffic noise but not a major problem. Room was clean but just a little bit tatty, but served the purpose. Staff helpful and friendly, and i would stay there again.

The front entrance is very off putting and the lifts and corridors were shabby. The staff were very helpfull. Much more flexible than a travel lodge or premier inn

not impressed with this hotelThe only good point about this hotel was how lovely the reception staff were, The rest of the hotel was a complete disapointment. I stayed one night and checked out and rebooked into another hotel in sheffield. The hotel is so outdated. The lift didn't work and I was on the 11th floor. The hotel looks dirty. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Much better than I was expecting!We were pleasantly surprised by our room - a bigger-than-expected corner room on the 11th floor. The hotel looks a bit shabby in places, and could do with a bit of a refurb, but we didn't find anything too serious. The shower head is too low for anybody much over 5'4, and the hot water takes a while to get going, but there's a lot of it, and the shower pressure is great!Friendly and helpful staff, and convenient parking, once we'd navigated our way around Sheffield's one-way system! Overall, I'll definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to anybody looking for well-priced and comfortable city centre accommodation.
