Nice hotel but did try to charge us twice for room service breakfast.

Overall stay was pleasing, although I felt the front reception staff could have been a little more friendly, upon check in and check out they really made no effort to ask if we had been to newcastle before, or if we even enjoyed our stay. No minibar? Rooms very comfortable, breakfast quite good.

On the wane?As the room was supposedly £200+ at full price I was expecting something a little better than I got. The room looked like it had staged too many parties and the beige carpet was now anything other than a single hue. The single mixer tap didn't actually allow you to draw cold water which was a shame as a pure draft was needed because the aircon didn't work. The bed was comfortable and bedding was good quality - though my sleep was affected by the loudly creaking floorboards from the room above. Overall, not great.

Room not very big and a bit basic, nice bathroom though. TV not tuned properly. Expensive breakfast (£12.95) in Living Room Restaurant was well worth the money. Staff very helpful. We would probably stay there again

Parking for 2 nights ended up with 2 x parking tickets in car park as hotel did not explain properly. On arrival no rooms cards as machine broken therefore had to be escorted to room from reception each time we came in. No min bar. Room average but have stayed in better Premier Inns which are a lot cheaper. Only plus point really was 10/10 for location - would stay again if got a cheaper rate purely for location but £218 for 2 nights - no breakfast was too much for a basic hotel. also rang reception at 2am for room service - no reply - held on line for 20 minutes and was told the phone always does that! What star rating is this hotel supposed to be?

good valueI enjoyed my stay at the Greys street hotel. We were there overnight for our daughters graduation and I could not fault the hotel. The only thing that was dissapointing was the condition of the carpets, which were very badly stained, they do not give a good impression to what aI consider a quality hotel. I would suggest replacing them with a darker colour, as cream is just not practical in a hotel.

Pleasant Stay on a very LIVELY street! We arrived on a busy Friday evening in Newcastle and had to stop off at the hotel to collect our parking token for the NCP which is about a 100yds away. (By the way, it's cheaper to pay at the NCP than to obtain the hotels "discounted" voucher!) We had to squuze past all the smokers from the ajoining pub who were sheltering in the doorway. The reception staff on duty were clearly not happy to be working there on the Friday night and the initial welcome was frosty. However, once we'd dropped our bags off we found that the hotel itself is quite nice. The cellar bar is a quiet haven away from the frantic street. The rooms itself is tiny however is well equiped with everything you should need including ironing facilities and tea/coffe etc. We were on the 1st floor of the hotel right above the entrance and the room had the original sash windows followed by a further double glazing window so the room was pretty well sound-proofed. If you're looking for a quiet tranquil retreat then this is not the most ideal location. If you're looking for a hotel in the heart of the city centre within walking distance to pretty much everything, shops, bars, restaurants, quayside etc then you couldn't get a much better place to stay.

This hotel is dirty and noisey - not worth the money they charge. DIsappointing.

Room QualityThe only complaint I have about this hotel is I was put into a junior suite and had I not booked through late rooms and got the special rate I would have been very disappointed with the suite. It lacked a mini bar and was quite small although classed as a suite and the carpet was filthy and let the rest of the room down.

Adequate but not enjoyableAs with the other commens here. The floor is disgusting. It is clean as in there is no debris, but the cream carpet was very stained.Although the food was prompt it wasn't great. For the money I have had far better in other hotels.

Amazing location and very luxurious room. Staff couldn't do enough to help. Only bad points were that we didn't receive the waffle bathrobes or mineral water we were promised.

A home from homeA good, clean and newish looking Hotel - it's called a Boutique hotel but it's more than that. Great rooms, good decor, love the style. The downstairs Cellar bar is a bright oasis and a fantastic place to start your evening with a few cocktails, then move next door to The Living Room for excellent food - the duck is exquisite and it's open until late. From there it's up to you, as you're in Central Newcastle and there is always plenty to do and some interesting sights to see after dark!!

hotel reveiweverything was clean, room was tiny but bed was very comfy, cracks in the sink, and carpet was stained, but as reveiwers have already said.. cream is not a good colour for carpets that see alot of feet. £ 80 was rather expensive for the size and quality of the room. It was very handy for the metro arena though, so that's a plus.

The room could have done with better blackout curtains. Good size room with very comfortable beds.

What ever you do do not eat breakfast in this hotel, the coffe was like tar and tasted burnt, the pasteries were rock hard and stale, it took over 25mins to get a 'hot' breakfast which was eggs benidict, when the food arrived it was stone cold with over cooked, watery, cold eggs, cold and chewy muffins and to top it off the hollandaise sauce was curdled and a grey colour. The room was ok, not the cleanest though, the carpets could do with replacing (who has cream carpets in a hotel?) as they were covered in stains and dirt, there were cob webs in the bath room and the position of the sink ment you couldn't sit on the toilet properly, light bulbs were also blown in various lamps. As it was just for the night i 'lived' with it, how ever, i would not recomend staying here for any length of time.
