short summer breaklarge homley hotel with great pool for kids comfortable beds, freindly staff, enjoyed breakfast. some creaky flooboards, took a while to find as at end of residental street, suppose when compared to big hotel chains olde worldy but that is part of its' charm - we enjoyed our stay :o)

Time WarpIf you dont mind orange carpets and woodchip on the walls book this hotel. Weird layout, shared showers, like going back in time 30 years. Swimming pool is over chlorintated and no pool towells or eating. I guess value for money but pretty dingy.

we loved this hotelWe stayed at the Green gables hotel in the family room with three young children. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who said there was no rush to check out the next day which was a big relief with twin babies and a young child to get ready. We loved the feel of the hotel with its mosaic floors and various interesting rooms open to guests including a librairy room. Patio doors in our room opened out onto a roof terrace which was an unexpected bonus. Breakfast was great, with lots to choose from and really well prepared. There is a swimming pool, games room and bar area also. Children were made to feel welcome by staff and other guests. We would definately go back to Green Gables.

last minute getawayThe staff are really friendly , pool is great kids loved it. loved our terrace. location is good only 15 minute walk to town centre. Enjoyed investigating around the hotel as its a fairly large building with lots of rooms to visit. Only thing i could complain about was the noisy floorboards when we walked around in our room . Overall we had a really pleasent stay & hope to return soon.

Impression upon arrival; tired looking building, was probably very nice at one time, but needs attention and investment. +'ves: park & playground adjacent, breakfast was good and conservatory (dining room) was nice.-'ves: quite a walk to the seafront, evening meals are only served in July & August (too long to wait when our breakfast was in May!), only one family room has a shower & no showers at the pool.

We chose the hotel for the pool which was ok but there are no showers at the pool which meant drying and dressing to go back to the room to shower!! No shower in room. Breakfast ok but forcefed radio 1. Park and playground next door good.

classic scarboro'This hotel is great for kids, ours are under 10. There's a small indoor pool which is big enough for a swim. Out the rear of hotel is a play park within a nice residential park. Food served in lovely conservatory bright and cheerful. The hotel is oldy worldly but only 15mins. walk from town centre or beach South Bay. Quiet residential area close to pubs and eating places not far from main train station or buses. This is our 4th stay and we'd go back again. Also do self catering as well as B&B.

Prety good get awayWe thought Green Gables was a fair place to get away to. Close to the town and the beach but away from the noise. Set against a small park we had squirrels for company. Hotel was bigger than we thought it would be and must have plenty history but we couldn't find anyone to tell us what it originally was. Pool was a good size and quiet, we had it to ourselves. The room was big and cofortable with a balcony. Staff ( what little we saw of them ) were friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was more than adequate. Overall, a great little find if you fancy a quiet place to stay in Scarborough.

One Night StayStayed here for one night over Easter. Reception guy was lovely but he was also the bar man , the late night watchman and the tourist information officer . MEN CAN MULTI TASK !!!! Very Old building in need of severe modernisation but great value for money . We had a family room for 5 .

a bit datedthe hotel was very large and very warm. The staff were friendly and the overall feeling of the hotel was one of security. A very pleasant stay and despite the slow but busy breakfast we were very happy with our break away.

The hotel was very noisy, and very old. It needs a huge make over. Otherwise the staff were nice and friendly and the breakfast was grerat. Service in the morning was fantastic. We had a family room which was rigth next to the stairs and the noise kept us all awake til about 12 o'clock.

Warm welcome, good service at breakfast, good games rooms, several lounges and a bar, nice park right behind hotel, bit of a walk to sea front and attractions but there seemed to be a lot of buses and we would have looked ino these if staying longer. Room decent size and very clean but needs upgrade on beds and decor. Plenty of variety at breakfast but no fresh fruit.Excellent value for what we paid. Will look them up next time in Scarborough.

Family of five stayed the August bank holiday weekend. There were 5 of us in the room which was fairly large. The hotel can look a bit outdated from the back entrance and is very traditional looking inside. Breakfast was served by waitresses and was great value. The kids loved the hotel and especially the pool. We paid £80 per night B&B which was most certainly value for money

Quite a long, hilly walk to and from seafront. Could do with major refurbishment, seemed to be stuck in the 70's, good point was that self-cateing flats were very clean and tidy and had towels provided as well as iron, ironing board, microwave, tv, radio, vacuum cleaner etc so wuld be suitable for a longer stay. Good views right across to castle and sea in the distance from top floor, and small lift to all floors.

Green gables is situated a short walk from the scarborough sea front ( about 20 min walk ) . On arrival we were greeted very warmly and our room was very spacious and clean. If you want cheap accvomodation and dont mind the short walk, this is the place to stay one of the best hotels i've ever stayed in for the price. If you have kids or the british weather is playing its usual tricks theres plenty to do inside the hotel, swimming pool, pool room etc. This hotel was really worth the stay !

Dont be put of by the distance from the sea front its only a 15 min walk (ish) or a few quid in a taxi,, its a great hotel, really big with swimming pool and games room and a lovely walking area just out side,, great for familys and couples alike
