only for an overnightvery basic hotel convenient for Exeter St david's stationroom basically clean and dcent but in need of a refurbshower hose needed replacing - water sprayed abouthowever, staff courteous and helpful and breaklfast was quite good (had much worse in Hilton/ holidayinn)

One Night in ExeterExactly what I would expect of an hotel of this type, a lovely quaint building, friendly, efficient staff. Breakfast was excellent, the beer was even better.

Basic but VFMA very basic hotel but value for money - you pay for what you get.It wouldn't take a great deal of effort to make the place more inviting and a bit more attention to detail and cleanliness would go a long way.

Efficient, cheap and handy for St Davids station and centre of townThe staff were efficient, and friendly. The room was clean, a good size and had a good flat screen telly with freeview.The hotel is next door to St David's Station, and a short walk (mostly uphill) to the centre of town.The food (breakfast) was fine, and checkout was simple. All in all, for £42 it is excellent value.

Classic Dingey Old HotelOK as basic accomodation, but I'd class this as a classic dingey hotel with ancien carpet, furniture and paintwork, dicky plumbing and sash windows that jam and are cobweb infested. As my room looked over the entrance I enjoyed the smokers' conversation into the small hours. Don't bring heavey bags - the staircases are very narrow and there's no lift. Oh and parking is a delight with different times on the two council pay and display signs and the alternative is expensive station parking. You'd be better off at the YHA.

Considering there is a ban on smoking in all hotels, this room STILL smelt of stale cigarette smoke, and it wasn't even above the external smoking area. Apart from that the room did as was required, with a tv, kettle, shower and toilet.

Quality of roomsDespite telling the management that the toilet would not flush, they couldn`t get it to work so I spent 3 nights without a working toilet - just not good enough.Very scruffy and dirty.They have a restaurant, but only used for breakfast.If you want an evening meal you have to sit in the bar, which is very tired and outdated.The only consolation was it was cheap - but it needed to be.
