We arrived around 12:30 pm did not get our room till 4:30. The staff could not seem to waiver or be accomadating,it seemed they did their job and nothing more. We traveled with other couples and they had a hard time seating us together in the restaurants because it wasn't the norm. I guess it was to hard for them to figure out to put a couple of tables together. We arrived at the french restaurant and two of the men in our group were wearing NICE shorts but they were told they wouldn't seat them ,so they went change to long pants. Yet while we were eating they let young girls in SHORT shorts,TUBE tops and flip flops. Didn't make any sense to us !! It was HOT in most of the resort. They way it is designed is to be open and airy but the only place that was comfortable was the lobby. The air conditioning in the room was not programmable it was set and could not be moved. The A/C was NOT working most of the time. On our last night there they finally moved us into another room at 2am. The food was so so nothing great the french restaurant was better. The Elite Restaurant was very nice and good food. The beach was very rocky, big rocks. If you wanted to enjoy the beach you had to go somewhere else.

Very clean, lots of activities, very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent facilities, clean, helpful courteous staff, 3 pools and family friendly. Easy and cheap local bus ride into Cancun if desired.

My boyfriend and I went April 15th, for a four day 3 night vacation and it was so much more than expected. We had a beautiful room with a gorgeous view. The pools were great, especially the entertainment staff that work the pools (X is the greatest!!). Every single staff member is so kind and helpful. We called for maintenance and housekeeping and they were at our room within 5 minutes. We did do a day trip to the Golden Parnassus and it was dead compared to the Great which was packed. We enjoyed there being a lot of people, we met wonderful people. If couples are worried about the kids in the hotel, don't be. There are plenty of activities which keep the kids busy and away from the adults. There is also an adult pool section which is great for quiet relaxation. We didn't even bother going downtown because the bars were great and the food was delicious at the resort. We were shocked over how fresh and wonderful the foods were. In the restaurants we had appetizers, as many entrees as you like, salad/soup, and of course desserts. There was never any need for reservations, you sat down immediately at a table and food came fairly quick. We loved the resort, we wanna go back this summer again. Go and find out how wonderful this resort is!!

Start with the good. Most of the staff were courteous and helpful. The food was good with lots of it being freshly made. There was also a wide variety. The pool was large and inviting. The view from the room was beautiful. Nice place and value to take the family. The not so good. Would not want to go there if we did not have the kids. House keeping never supplied enough towels or wash clothes for the 5 of us. Had to call every day for more. Took a long time to get more if they came at all. The pools flow into each other. The pool at the end was dirty and had foamy yuck floating around the edges. The eating area at the buffet that was open most of the time was very warm. Need to pump some a/c in there.

Overall a good trip. Nice rooms, very good service, whole resort very clean & well kept. All food was very good & fresh. A good value for all inclusive. The 2 negatives for us were the very small beach area with no huts or palm trees, the beach is all sharp rocks - totally un-swimable. 2nd, very family oriented with rides & such, alot of kids. Were a couple traveling alone, it was a bit noisy with children.

My boyfriend and I just got back from staying at the Great Parnassus and we wanted to share how we felt, since we read all the other reviews before we left. A lot of what other people said in their reviews were true. If you are going to Cancun to enjoy the beaches, go somewhere else. The hurricane definitely knocked out most of the beaches and there were huge rocks everywhere. I want to point out though that even the 5 star hotels are like this. We were lucky because the Hyatt (which is right next door) had an open beach so we just walked over every day. Upon arrival to the hotel we were upgraded from a family room to an ocean view suite which I thought was really nice. The rooms were good enough, not the Ritz but better than the Holiday Inn. The staff was excellent and really friendly. Anything we needed they got for us, which we really appreciated. The food was okay (again I think we got what we paid for). If you are used to eating at luxury restaraunts, an all-inclusive hotel is probably not the way to go. Go to the Sports Bar for drinks, that was the only place we got real hard alcohol. The adult pool was also really nice and super quiet, I would definitely recommend spending time there. We also took the free shuttle to the sister hotel which we really enjoyed. They too did not have a beach, but the pool and buffet was really good!

We traveled with our 3 children (4, 8, 10yrs old). The Hotel was beautiful and clean. My only complaint is it was really warm in the lobby, and Buffet Restaurant...(open design made it impossible to air condition comfortably). The entertainment staff was excellent ! The "kids pools", and Kids Club were wonderful, even my 10 year old loved hanging out there. The poolside activities we fun whether you participated or just watched. We found the staff to be friendly & helpful. We all enjoyed the nightly shows held in the auditorium. The service was great, at all the restaurants, the pools, and bars. Save yourself some time, and buy big cups at the gift shop to have your drinks filled with at all the bars (otherwise they serve your drinks in small plastic cups). The beach was disappointing, very rocky & rough, we were unable to go swimming in the ocean, but the kids loved playing in the sand & surf. When you book your trip, request an odd numbered room. Even though we LOVED our room, we were in an even number room, and we faced the Hilton, and their huge generators, which was rather noisy. Granted, the Hotel was not as fancy, and sophisticated as others.... but for the price we paid, we felt it was FANTASTIC ! The kids can't wait to go back !!

It wasn't the best hotel I've ever stayed at, but it sure wasn't bad. A family hotel, it can be a little loud. There were little maintenance things that needed to be taken care of, but the service was great. Staff was very friendly, price was great and all inclusive, how can you complain. Thinking of sending my in-laws there for a few days.(I LIKE my in-laws)

The foyer of the hotel is beautiful. I believe we had a "yesterdays hamburger". I think the cocktails had little or no alcohol in them, but plenty of triple sec & lime juice to mask the drink. It was so sweet it would have given you a stomach ache. My sister tried to book a couples massage for us during our stay and after a 1/2 hour of being transferred and the entire runaround, she said just forget it. The rooms were clean. The bathtub was tretcherous. Thought for sure we'd walk out w/brain damage because it was so dangerous trying to get in and out of the tub to take a shower. So, I'd have to say, its ok for a cheap vacation. The work out facility was nice. They ran out of water cups, so I went to the spa next door to ask for an empty cup to get a drink of water. They kindly said they didn't have a cup? what, not even an empty cup? How about a bottled water? She said, no, I'm sorry". Well it didn't surprise me after everything else. I've been to spa's and they always have cups and bottled water. I found out later, its run idependent from the hotel. I would have paid for the water, had they told me that, or the empty cup. The staff was very nice & the rooms were clean and the pool was nice. Everything else, not worth $*for a 5 night pkg for 2. Good Luck!

This hotel has no AC in the elevators, common area and in the buffet dining area. In July, this is totally unacceptable. Even the AC in the room is barely adequate (need to turn on the fan to get some cool air to circulate). On the second day of our stay, the toilet started to act up (no water to flush). It took them half of the day to resolve the problem and we end up having to pack up and move to another room. Bed sheets are dirty with 'unidentify object'. Service at the Italian dining area is very very slow. Italian pasta tasted like Chinese noodle. The staff is not friendly. We've to pretty much serve ourself. Can't swim on the beach since huge rocks are everywhere. Please don't repeat our mistake. Take your money somewhere else and do not stay at this hotel.

Stayed 5 nights and enjoyed every moment. Great food, pool, and atmosphere. The room was large and the A/C was perfect. The restaurants were great. The bars throughout the resort were available with very friendly staff. The pool bartender was awesome! I will recommend this resort to all my friends. Great price. Great pool !!!!

We stayed at the Great Parnassus in 2008 and in February of 2009. We traveled with another adult couple and throroughly enjoyed our stay both times and would stay here again. The staff is excellent, food is good, service is great, and the activities are fun. People complain about the beach but most beaches are rocky and not large. There is plenty of room here to lay out on the beach or play on the beach.

The staff was very friendly, but always wanting a tip. The food is very repeative in all the restraunts, and it was not very good. The whole place had a slight smell of sewer. The place was filled with loud local teens partying 24/7, passed out on the beach, slamming doors, swearing, making out by the pool. It felt like it was sring break! The drinks were good, except the wait staff ignored you, hard to get a drink. Beds were VERY hard, with only a sheet and light blanket. Shower was broken, hot tub in room, had a hole in the side, the balcony was caked with crap! There were only 3 elevators and had to wait forever for them. Time share people were constintly hassling you. The room was always made up, except there were never any washclothes. The beach was very rocky, no where to swim. Celings dripped when it rained, buckets everywhere, floors VERY slippery! Majority of the TV channels were all in spainsih, hard to watch anything. I was expecting a lot more for the price that I paid. I was very unhappy about the place. Would never recommend to anyone!

First class all way. Waiters, food, rooms, shops, pools were all fantastic. My adult son and I travel a couple of times a year and the Great Parnassus would be tough to beat and the price was more than worth the stay.

Our family had a wonderful time. The hotel is set up perfectly for a great family experience. The kids zone and baby zone is top notch, allowing parents a few hours of calm, and the kids an exciting place to play in a very safe, structured, well supervised enviroment. The restaurants and accomodations were impressive and the service for the most part was excellent. I would definately stay here again!

Restaurant and lounge service was so slow. Took 4-ever to get anything, food or drink, or any service at all. They wasted very valuable vacation time of ours. Room service was advertised as 24 hr. service but was closed from 6am to 7am every morning. That's only 23 hrs. That was when we wanted our breakfast. We had to wait til after 7am to eat breakfast wasting more of our vacation time. Shower head didn't work in suite room. Spa tub took 45 minutes to fill up enough to turn jets on. We downgraded to a deluxe room. Very dissappointed.

In the pictures of the hotel ocean front, it doesn't show that there are any rocks. There are TONS of big rocks. I know because I fell on them and got bruises.

At first when i saw the hotel i thought it might be nice. The hotel is ok. They have a good restaurants but the food is not that great. It was better of going to eat outside of the hotel if you had the chance. The Rooms looked ok in the online travel Website, once your there you`ll think different. The Bed was awful, it was like sleeping on the floor. I asked the receptionist if all the beds on the hotel were like this, she said yes. next day i left the hotel to another hotel. The beach was awful, full of rocks, not enough space to even get a tan. People were just standing on the sand waiting for the waves to hit them. You couldnt even swim a bit. Too Many kids on the hotel, Overall i think you shouldnt try this hotel unless you want to ruin your first Cancun Experience.

Overall Cancun is a fun place that I would recommend to any one. Jun-Oct might not be the best time to go to Cancun though unless you do not mind extremely hot and muggy weather. We spent a lot of time at the beach and swimming pool. We took a parasailing and submersible ride. Kids had a lot of fun. The biggest problem for us was food. We are vegetarian and the hotel did not have enough vegetarian options. In some restaurants at the hotel they were not as accomodating and the ones which were accomodating were not as good. The best was the Samurai Japanese Restaurant but overall food quality was average. The language was a big barrier as lot of them did not speak or understand english very well especially the cooks at the buffet. The hotel had a great place for the kids for water play but other than that, they did not have any other activities. One of the main reasons we choose this hotel is because the family room is great so that the kids have a little semi-private bunk beds and we get some privacy once they go to sleep. So if this is important for you too, the hotel provides the best value. Most of our other vacations have been with the Cruise and I found them to be lot more accomodating both for food as well as kid activities.

When we were booking our trip we looked at the reviews to help us decide. We had some positive and some negative. We decided to book here and wow! my family had an amazing time. The hotel was gorgeous. Clean, big and lots to do. The food was great. The restaurants were quick to serve delicious food. Our rooms were clean and big and perfect for our family. The staff was quite helpful. They tried their best to get us involved, to make sure our family had fun, the kids were safe in the kids area, and that our needs were met. They expected nothing but if you tipped them a little extra they made sure to go above and beyond sometimes for a mere $2.00 tip. Everyone was always happy and polite to us. I found that from the reviews read (negative ones) complaining of the staff, if you were rude and pushy and mocked the staff and did not take the time to say please and thank you YES they did not give you the time of day. A word of advice. You are travelling to a different country with different culture and mentality. It is not home, if you expect everything to be like home than you should stay home. I have been travelling for 30 yrs and many of those trips were to Mexico and I have to say they are by far some of my best vacations. This hotel blew me away because our children ages 16 to age 8 all had something to do, go and eat, everyone was happy all the time. Including my husband and I. We would definitly reccommend this hotel as long as things stay the same.
