excellentWhat can i say i really enjoyed my stay here and was made very welcome the room was a little on the small side but was very clean not a mark anywhere. The staff were very helpful and polite the room was great value for money. I will definitely use them again and have already told all my friends and family. Excellent

Disabled parking bays all full on 29/11/08 at 1900 (hotel function on) Not one of the cars was displaying a blue badge and this caused considerable problems for myself being disabled. Speed ramps on hotel drive far too high, nearly every car 'grounded' on passing. Hotel itself adequate, staff pleasant. Breakfast recommended.

On the whole a pleasant stay, marred by the noise during the night. Because the Hotel hosts a number of evening functions with party goers staying the night and coming to bed in the early hours,banging on doors and running up and down corridors led to disturbed nights.On the plus side the full English Breakfast included in the price was very good.

On arrival I received a freindly welcome, however this did not last. The room was in need of decoration and repair, the sliding ensuite door was falling off its brackets, lights did not work, floor seperators bent, TV had bad reception on all channels and did not receive all the channels advertised. The heating was not on on arrival so the room was not warm until 8pm. I telephoned for room service for dinner and was informed that chef was not doing room service that evening, I had to plead with them just to get a sandwich. So much for a cosy night in to watch x factor finals.

Great Barr Hotel (June 09)The accomodation was basic and room a little cramped. However, for the price I didnt expect it to be the Hilton. The staff were excellent and would use again.

Great Barr Hotel, BirminghamAlthough the room rate was reasonable, the hotel is 'tired' looking i.e. paintwork old, carpets worn and aged. Quality of the rooms leaves considerable room for improvement. The radiator could not be turned off/down and the window had to be left open all night to ensure some level of comfort. The menu choice was very linited and I ate elsewhere apart from the breakfast which was good. Would look for alterantive accommodation if staying in the area again. No complaint was made to the management at the time, as there did not seem any point. It would not have meant that the carpets would have been changed or the rediator fixed etc. during my stay.

Very noisyArrived at hotel. Receptionist was very vague about facilities when asked appeared to be pre occupied. Was woken up four times during the night by other guests shouting in the early hours of the morning. Not appreciated, Very tired after a disturbed nights sleep. Breakfast was satisfactory.

Good value for moneyHave stayed at this hotel a number of times. 1 - 40th birthday party 2008, 1 - xams day lunch, 2008 1-tribute evening 2009. '40th birthday' was held in a private room, service was excellent, food was excellent, room was clean and spacious. 'xmas lunch' - food - starters were a bit disappointing, main course was traditional, hot and tasty, Ambiance of the room however was a little disappointing - to caferteria-ish for my likeing the service though was once again accommodating and excellent. 'Tribute night' - Supper was disappointingly dry and beware puds 'n' coffee are extra. Entertainment was excellent, as was the service. Room - Initially we were appointed one of the smaller rooms (this may have been due to the fact we had a late room deal) this in itself would not have been a problem, unfortunately the bathroom light did not work and there was distinct musty smell in the bathroom and as it was a ground floor room the inability to lock the windows caused concern, we contacted the receptionist and we were promptly moved to a larger room across the hall. Overall I believe this is a great little hotel and good value for money the staff being its biggest assett.

The room was small but clean and the bed was comfortable - perfectly adequate for one night. However, the sound insulation was poor and I was lucky not to have had noisy revellers in the rooms next door, as I stayed on a 'Tribute night'. I heard people complaining at breakfast that they could hear through the walls. It would have been nice to have had a fridge in the room, and a choice of herbal teas + biscuits. However, breakfast was excellent and the staff were very helpful.
