Date of Stay: May, 2008

Grand Sierra Resort is by far the best value and hotel in Reno. Traveler and family friendly with plenty of "on property" things to do! My kids had a great time in the arcade, bowling alley, and race car track. I shot rounds of golf both indoors and out at the aqua golf range. Many new choices in dining - affordable too! Starbucks in the morning, Charlie Palmer Steak at night. Buffet is excellent. Staff is friendly and room service was prompt. Grand Sierra even has their own "Adventure Concierge" which offers guests hundreds of outdoor recreation opportunities throughout Reno-Tahoe! We stayed in the Summit rooms and wow, what beautiful and well appointed rooms they are. First class hotel!

The room was not clean - they made us wait till 3:00 before they even allot the room. The staff behaviour was cold at the best.

Centrally located. Nice, clean rooms with comfortable beds. Great price!!! Plenty to do on-site. No complaints at all. We've stayed there 3 times now, and will continue to do so.

I don't recommend staying at the hotel if you have activities in Reno and need to sleep. At least on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Because the Nikki Beach area has a party all of those nights, and loud music is played outside the hotel until 2am. That's OK if the hotel would tell you before you book a non-refundable room, but they do not. And they know it's a problem because they tell you when you are checking in, so you have the option to forfeit your room payment and look elsewhere for a room before you're already trying to sleep. They'll also point out that a lot of people would like to go to the party, but their argument falls flat when they can't put any of those people that want to go to the party into your room which is right over the party. Oh and I'm talking about even at the 25th floor. I used to stay at GSR often since they changed from the Hilton, but with the new upscale decor, it seems that service is now gone from the equation. (p.s. I didn't even get housekeeping service after complaining about not being able to be relocated.)

We had 3 non-smoking lower level rooms; all had mildrew in shower/tub area grout; one smelled like an ashtray (obviously runs not enforced); terribly loud hallway/neighbors; king bed uncomfortable, short-sheeted bottom sheet and mattress bad so our feet were ON the mattress. Pillows completely flat. Towels extremely rough. No security in hotel area or working cameras; no switchboard records to verify or dispute phone calls made from room. You argue, you are out of luck. We are in our late 50's and have traveled every other month for the last few years and this was the WORST experience ever. We'd been at this hotel 2 other times but stayed in the expensive suites. Whole different ballgame but now we see how the hotel is run if you have any problems and we will NEVER stay or go there again.

I just stayed for one night as I was on business. Room was large, and the bed was comfortable. Check-in was smooth and the people were friendly. Free valet parking and they had the car for me very quickly in the morning. I was very happy with the hotel. My only complaint was $12.99 for the internet. So many hotels offer it free now.

The odd numbered rooms face the south. There is a very popular attraction (Nikki's Beach) on the south side of the facility. The music noise can be very LOUD late at night. Stay high or stay on the north side. Otherwise a very nice facility. I'll go back.

The rooms are old,stale and smell like smoke. We checked into our first room and it smelled horrible,went and checked into another room ,it too was horrible..Finally decided to pay the difference and stay at the Summit.They were going to charge an additional 250 plus tax for 4 nights but because I spoke to the manager we got it for an additional 120 plus tax. The Summit rooms are newly decorated,and beautiful! Definately stay there rather than the old part of the hotel..

I had pleasant experience staying at the Grand Sierra last fall, and was pleased to return to this (supposedly) pet-friendly hotel, until I climbed on the airport-hotel shuttle. Even before climbing the stairs onto the bus, the driver sniffed my cat's crate to see if she smalled of urine, and asked the other passengers if they were okay with having a cat on the shuttle. As many of them were also bringing cats, there was no issue about my bringing Balimoor Belle Starr on board. The return trip was a replay of the driver's rude behavior. It is excusable ONLY IF HE BEHAVES THE SAME WAY ABOUT A CHILD with a dirty or urine soaked diaper. For shame, Grand Sierra!!! You can bet I won't bet in your facility in the future. Susan C. The regular rooms in this hotel haven't been updated in years. Poor quality matresses and the worst pillows I have ever tried to use. This would be a good place to hole up and write some blues tunes but other than that go somewhere else. Hotel management is apparently in dissaray. Don't walk, run from this hotel!

We attended a family reunion over the 4th of July weekend. We chose this hotel by the pictures on the website and the amenities it had listed. I was not sure what the outcome would be, but once we arrived I was happy to see all the other families that were there.I knew it was a great choice. we had plenty of resturants to choose from. The pool was very nice. The childrens play area was heaven for them. We were even able to watch the fireworks from this location.I can say that this hotel was a one stop shop,any and everything you need is right here! I will most definetly stay here again. Oh... did I mention that if you love shopping there is a wonderful mall right off of HWY 59B.... gotta love it!
