Great service with english speaking staff. Has an upscale feel to the hotel with a beautiful garden. Room was quite large compared to others. About 5-10min walk from the train station. Lots of good restaurants on the way. Will definitely stay again!

The most sincere and friendly staff I've ever come across. The walk from the train station/main road is uphill. The entire staff was simply amazing. They were constantly there for anything you needed and they refused any sort of tip at all. The room was quiet, comfortable and immaculate. Each day you would come back to a perfectly cleaned room. There were lots of places to shop and eat within walking distance and the train station was just a few minutes away. I've stayed at many hotels in my life and can easily put this one near the top. Fantastic value for money.

My room looked like it was out of the 70s. I am sure this was a nice hotel 20 years ago, but now it is pretty run down.

a wonderful hotel, situated in the most magnificent Japanese garden.

Very easy to find, staff were most helpful, rooms were clean and neat, 3 singles in one room - still a bit of room to spare. Food in the hotel was very good, a little on the expensive side - gave us 20% discount coupons.

The hotel rooms were very spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the bell captain who helped us locate restaurants and shops. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very clean. The hotel grounds were very pretty and well maintained. We would stay at this hotel again if we are in Tokyo.

Ensure you book the Grand Prince New Takanawa - has udnergone a nice renovation to its rooms and soon public areas. Large modern rooms, some with great views over tokyo. Easy walk to Shinjuku station that connects you to the local subway or Narita Airport Express.Breakfast room a little dated adn food was ok - some room for improvement.Fitness centre is located in the adjacant Sakura tower - great new equipment and the wlak back through the Japanese Garden is very relaxing.Highly recomend this hotel for business or leirsure.

Stayed for 2 nights, almost perfect! Very close to major station Shinagawa, that have connections to every corner in Tokyo. Lots of hotels around the area. Beautiful garden which is perfect for a break from the stressful meetings. Food is good, staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel entrance is on the hill so if you missed the shuttle, you will have to walk some 10 mins from street level (hard work particularly for uphill). Suggest hotel to have most frequent shuttle services, and small printed shuttle schedule to give away, and don't stop running the shuttle between 2 to 6pm.

Excellent service, rooms had balcony, mirror dresser, and other wonderful amenities. Lack of internet connection in the room. The New Prince Takinawa is an excellent stay for anyone, convenient, and comfortable rooms. The staff was very friendly when i checked in; they helped with bags and even escorted me to my room. Rooms were surprisingly spacious for a hotel in Japan, came furnished with a mirrored makeup table for the ladies, and a balcony overlooking a garden. There was also a small mini fridge, hair dryer, and yukatas(Japanese PJ's) in the drawers. The hotel is located 2 blocks away from Shinagawa Train Station which provided transportation to almost anywhere in Tokyo as well as a wide assortment of shops and restaurants in and around the station. The neighborhood felt quiet and safe, very busy in the mornings. There is even a hotel shuttle that will take you from the hotel to Narita Airport for 3000 yen (about $30) a person. Only gripe I have with the hotel is the lack of Internet access, as there is no wired or wireless Internet in the guest rooms. Internet access was only available in the business center.

This was a great place to stay, I would stay here again for the comfort, service, and especially location because of its closeness to a main hub of the JR Lines.

Beautiful Japanese garden between anexes, great gym, large room for Japan. Fantastic rate for area and it does not skip a beat in offering amenities. The gym has a charge, not unusual in Japan, but the facility and saunas, steam and whirlpool make it worthwhile, especially for those who suffer severe jetlag. Short walk to major station, entertainment for families and shopping. Rooms slightly larger than more expensive neighbor hotels.

We stayed at the New Tanakawa when we arrived in Tokyo, and chose to stay at the older Tanakawa after we traveled to other parts of Japan. This Tanakawa is a classic hotel with impeccable hospitality, incredible staff, and less tourist groups. Our children (3 of them) shared a room which is of very good size. Our own room is bit smaller than the one at the New Tanakawa but equally comfortable. The hotel is close to the Shinagawa station, and the hotel provides a regular shuttle if you have lots of luggage. Otherwise, walking is faster than waiting for the twice hourly shuttle. There are many restaurants around the train station. A good value is the buffet offered at some of the restaurants in nearby hotels; food is good and price is reasonable. This Tanakawa does not offer buffets though. One can also get food from nearby department stores for an inexpensive lunch, like many Japanese do.

The location and the view from the room was great. The lobby is a little too institutional. A very large complex of hotels with many large groups a little like a hotel factory.A good room in a great location.I love the toilets that come standard with most rooms in Japan. Heated seats with a great spray device, plus a couple other options.Great views from the higher floors.

The staff was very polite and helpful. The furnishings in the room and the bed spreads seemed old andnot very modern.

"Don't be fooled by the outdated pictures that you see...the hotel has been renovated and is very nice. We had a king size bed overlooking a garden/carp pond (could also see high-rises). The staff was very friendly. We had a desk with lamp, a refrigerator, a table and chairs, a small loveseat, a safe, large closet, and flat-screen TV. The hotel is within short walking distance (it is a steep walk...but they have a free shuttle if you need it) from Shinagawa station. "

Location and Staff was amazing! Unable to have family (4 persons) in one room - restaurants very expensive. Hotel staff and facilities were 1st class. A short walk to major jr train station and nice, reasonable restaurants. Business center allows 10min of free email a day. A great experience - would recommend it highly.

Clean and friendly staff. Not a 4 star hotel. This hotel is adequate, not great. It's definitely not a 4-star hotel. It was clean and staff was friendly. It was very close to the train station but a little hard to find.

Japanese Garden, Tea Garden, Spa and Gym. Furniture, Bed, Felt like I was on a ocean liner. Ok if you are traveling through Japan on a budget, however, if you are looking for luxurious expatriate accommodations, you will not find it.

Staff was very helpful. No iron was in the room. It would have been nice if breakfast was included. Dinning in the hotel restaurants was would have been very expensive. Fortunately, several good eateries were close by. Hotel was very convenient to public transit.
