It was AMAZING I couldnt believe it. The Beaches and the pools were crystal clear the workers were very polite. The buffet and restaurant was one of the best foods I had ever tasted. The activities were so much fun especially the bannana boat ride. The hotel rooms were nice clean, smelled the fresh air, and the smell of the palm trees. It was one of the best 7 days of my life!! We are going back in a couple years.(cant wait)!!

My stay at this hotel was unpleasant no happy vacation for me. The desk people were rude and uncaring, taking bribes to solve the many problems people came to complain, like smelly rooms, no water, no working A/C, not the type of accommodations paid. No supervisor available to assit either. The food and restaurants were good. It took 3 1/2 hours for me to check in and had to pay extra for the type of accomodation I already paid for. Sunwing does not care either, they take your complain and give you the "we regret" answer but are not a responsible company. Stay away from this hotel, choose the Melia Hotels, they are superior.

The hotel rooms were nice for the price. We had to change rooms once. The AC did not work properly, but we had no problem getting another room quickly. The staff was friendly. Speaking spanish and being nice will help you get better service. The pools were nice very good location, the beach was exceptional, very close to the hotel. Lots of activitiies, bars and restaurants are conveniently located at a walking distance to your room. You have the option of getting on a shuttle car and going to the other side of the resort for other restaurants and bars and casino. Very nice. The staff was nice and friendly it helps if you tip once and a while. The entertainment is good. Mostly spanish music at the bars, discos and theatre, but very entertaining. It helps to speak a little spanish. The only thing I would recommend is to travel during the off season, it is very hot and make sure you take some spray or lotions to keep the mosquitoes away. There were a lot of them, including in the room sometime. Other that the hot temperature and the mosquitoes, Me and my wife had a great time. People from all over the world. Plenty of kids at the pool mostly. You have to get up very early in the morning to get a lounge chair with a shade, usually by leaving a towel on the lounge reserves your spot. Plenty of excursions to go to. We went snorqueling for 35 dollars each. Not a lot of fishes to see, but it was ok, the boat ride was cool! My advice is to go there with an open mind, knowing that you are not in the US. People there have a relax way of doing things. So be patient and have good time!

i read the reviews and was a little concerned. We stayed i/9/2009 and it was fabulous. the rooms were large, clean lovely toiletries, and the staff got you what ever you needed. They even held my hand and walked me down the hall when it was wet. the food and restraurants were great and the IItalian outstanding. again the staff great. yes, shortage of beach chairs caused by impolite greedy tourists grabbing all the chairs-as in amy resort. no one bothered us trying to sell things. yes, the gift shop is a rip off. the shows at night were very nice. we are going back next year.

The resort is very nice, it has a variety of activities to do and entertainment on a daily basis. The Staff are very friendly and hard working people they are always willing to go that extra mile for the guests. We had minor inconveniences, such as hot rooms and no lights when we arrived. (The key is to get an extra card key and keep it inside the little box that they have placed by the bathroom door to get access to the electricity and the a/c on a need to basis) Their purpose is to save energy specially since the price of the gas is higher than in the U.S. But I have an advise for them concerning the A/C. cutting the A/C and turning back on when it gets too hot, does not save energy. It makes the A/C unit work twice as much and consumes a lot more electricity. It is better to keep it running at a medium temperature, and to let people adjust it according to their needs. The other minor complaints were water leaking in one of my family bedrooms, and a few roaches in the others room, also no control remote for the TV. The other suggestion is that the Resort owners should invest quickly on building better roads from the Airports to the resorts. They are making good of money , so it is in their best interest to have better access to their vacation spots ! The Tourist should get that first good impression ! Other than that, we enjoyed our stay !

Check-in was disaster, problem with the reservation so we were put in room that had MOLD. They moved us right away, but it started things off rather leary. The pools and the beach were wonderful. The staff at the restaurants were friendly. The hotel desk staff were unfriendly and not informative at all. Sometimes bar staff at pool worked at a snails pace, so much so, a couple of times we gave on getting our drinks. The light snacks are decieving -- only one provided was nachos and chips. The gift shops were limited in what they offered and EXTREMELY overpriced with unfriendly staff too -- total bad experience with shops.

i got sick and i was sent to the local hospital when i got back to the hotel they had rented to other people the other room i had. i am fluent in spanish and the phone operators were the most rude people i have ever encountered. i requested apple juice from an employee and he broght me 3 small bottles and charged me 26.00 plus tip. i will never stay there ever again.

Lots of kids so it gets loud sometimes. Some of the staff were not very friendly. The rooms and hotel were all clean. Buffet food is not that great - restaurants are better but you can only go there 2 nights - the rest of the time you have to go to the buffet.

We just got back from Punta Cana and we stayed at Grand Paradise Bavaro. The hotel was nice however we did encounter a few things. First the rooms were somewhat sub-standard with LITTLE air conditioning. We often had to ask for clean towels and they gave no wash cloths. The hotel grounds and pool area was really nice and the staff (the ones who spoke english) were very helpful. Knowing Spanish definately helps here. Beach front was also really nice but you had to get there EARLY for any shaded umbrellas. Food was alittle different also, but they did change their menu daily. Milk had an odd taste and you could not drink their water except from a bottle. For the price it as an ok hotel but I would probably look for a nicer hotel next visit and pay a little more for nicer rooms with good air conditioning due to the excessive heat. I would recommend a visit to Saona Island, it's a whole day trip but it was really beautiful and we also took a half day trip to Sting Ray Bay and it also was a great trip.

No hot water for 5 of 7 days. Sometimes no water at all ( a little hard to flush the toilet ) Food was below average at best. No entertainment at all! Staff was lukewarm on there best day's. Tried to change hotels after 3 days but was told they couldn't help us out. Was told they open up the resort on Fri.- Sun. to locals for a very discounted rate.

The was bad experience in this Hotel. We change the room twice ,In the first room the smell was really bad and we were not able to stay with our kids, so we change and in the second room the A/C did not work for two nights,we were missing Coffe maker as well we did not have enough towells.

While we enjoyed the courteous and friendly disposition of the entire staff, we were very much dissapointed with the room accomodations, which we found outdated and uncomfortable. The beds were stiff and old, the T.V. did not work properly and we were already into day four before shampoo was available. The room was simply not up to our expectations; most of all, the old beds. I would not consider staying there again!

Beautiful Resort if you don't speak andy spanish you will be lost here. 99.9% of the words spoken her eare in spanish. There is a lot you don't get told up front. All inclusive?? humm they don't tell you that its no name dominican liquor. 1 bar with normal drinks that you have to pay cash for and it is only open 7pm-2 5 days a week. Yes there are 6 nice restraunts here and what they don't tell you is that you can only EAT at 2 of them on your vacation, otherwise you have to eat at the Buffet all of your meals.....Make sure that you have american cash befor youget here because you cant get it here and they charge 16% sales tax if you want to use credit card and most won't even take that. Youcan get Pesos from the ATM but most places wont even take those.

We spent 5 days at the Grand Paradise Bavaro in the Club section. We were really concerned as the time got closer to our trip because of the many bad reviews. We just kept in mind that a vacation is what you make of it and if you are going to fret over every little detail you should just stay home. We had some glitches but nothing that the employees did not attempt to correct. The food was ok, we were always able to find something that we liked. They were understaffed in the buffet and we had difficulty getting water to drink. The pizza was good. I recommend the International Restaurant and the Seafood Restaurant. The rooms were nice but could use some repairs. Our group did not get rooms by each other but did get assigned the same building. We had some confusion at check-in and were given the wrong type of rooms, (a one bed room for three people) but we were able to correct the errors and get the suites that we had paid for. Our one room had a leak from the ceiling every time the room upstairs took showers. It was reported but never repaired. A bucket was a new fixture to catch the water as it dripped. The beach and the pools were beautiful. Many people were saving chairs under umbrellas but were never seen. This was very annoying. One day we left our items at the pool and went to grab a quick snack only to come back and find that someone had moved our items. We had been there all day and only left for 45 minutes. After seeing so many ?saved? chairs we were not happy to find that someone had the nerve to move our things. There were other chairs available so there really was no reason to touch our items. Overall, most of the employees tried their best to please us. Some of the male employees were too friendly and made sexual comments. We were all married women trying to get away and relax and found it very inappropriate to have the constant undertones when attempting to get a drink or ask a question. We were there to relax, not get hit on. The vendors are a complete

The location was beautiful but the food left something to be desired and my first day I experienced unfriendly staff at check-in. The person who checked me in was brisk and unfriendly and basically shoved a key at me without so much as a welcome and brief overview. I was so upset with the service my first day I tried change plans to leave early. Things did improve. Be aware there is a $10 entry tax at the airport.

The hotel was very nice overall. The only small regret was the nightlife got kinda boring after the shows. I'm 24 so I like to party at night. This was due though to the disco being under renovation. They did have alternatives though and the staff was very fun and active. My wife and I had a great time. The Asian and Italian restaraunt were amazing. The beach and pools were very nice. The hotel was worth the price.

All activities that are fun cost more money and have to be done off-sight of the resort. The resort itself gets boring fast. Lots of silly swimsuit contest and stuff like that, but nothing that's really more than 5 minutes worth of your time.

I am going to start with saying that this place is a bang for your buck and is actually Paradise however there are so many problems with this place that it is very hard to say i approve or don't. First when we got to the reception it was beautiful, we waited in line for about half hour to talk with the guy, we were given two keys, two towel cards and a short orientation to the resort. No one told us that the main buffet was closed and we would have to take the tram to the second part of the resort, nor did they tell us the name or where it was on the second half. We get to our room and you need to keep your key card in the wall thing to power the room. its a basic room, no luxuries which is ok for me. but there was NO CLOCK! they had no CLOCKS at all at this place. therefore if something opens at 6 its opens at 630 because they do not value time here, which for an American is hard to get use to. This might seem like complaints but its beautiful here, clean and safe, but so many negative. At the specialty restaurants you need something other than sandals or flip flops which they don't tell you. they will kick you out. The safe is 12$. Flush toilet 3 times or it will back up. NO HOT WATER 4/5 days, and i mean NONE! Also no one will help you if you don't know Spanish. The tram stops running at the alternative stops at 6pm so get it in the lobby. Excursion i recommend is swimming with sharks and stingrays!

The location of this hotel was great; we enjoyed the beach, which was the main point of the vacation. However, the reception staff were extremely unhelpful, and for the most part rude. We had to argue with the front desk for basic items such as getting a second key card (for a double room), the correct number of a la carte dinner reservation coupons, a receipt upon checkout, etc. The upkeep of the rooms was also not up to par. It was readily apparent that the bathroom was not actually cleaned, towel replacement was spotty, and the flowers left as decorative arrangements attracted insects. Overall our vacation was still enjoyable, however this is not a property which I would return to.
