Hotel ok. A bit too far out of the centre although did not get ripped off by the taxis as per some of the reviews (approv €16 to get into and back from the centre). Breakfast was a very limited spread compared to other 4 star hotels I've stayed in.

It was located near the metro stop which made the commute easy and worry-free. The room's decor is simple and bathroom's shower is extremely small and tight. Breakfast has exact same items every day, but it is OK to fill yourself up before you start the day. Good restaurant nearby made dining out a pleasure. Will stay here again if come back to Rome.

Hi! If you use this hotel, just be ready for its not in the middle of Rome. I would suggest a lower quality hotel for the same money in the CENTER of Rome. The Hotel is very clean and the rooms are nice, just not close.

The room is extremely small. And,the amenities (detergent, towel, hair dryer, etc) supplied are extremely primitive.

The hotel was in a great location. Very quiet in the evenings. Rooms were very modern, clean and comfortable. Bathroom was very new. Wonderful to be in such a large city and have a peaceful park across the street.

Grand Hotel Palazzo Carpegna is truly a grand classic hotel. It reminds me very much of the Overlook Hotel from the movie The Shinning. I don't think that there is a ceiling under 12' in the whole joint, including the guest rooms. It is located inside of a block away from the main street. Traffic noise is not a problem. I would guess that the hotel was built in the early 1900s and has been remodeled into a 21st century inn. Check in was easy. All of the people we dealt with spoke English. We were kicked off the cruise ship at 8am and arrived at the hotel at 9:30 and they still had a room ready for us (even though check-in is 3pm). The desk was very helpful, from booking our tours to wake-up calls. Rooms were very clean and maid service was great. Bathrooms are very modern. No tub, but a great shower with a lot of hot water and presure. There is a 110 volt U.S. outlet but the outlet is not polarized (both plugs are the same size). All rooms and halls have stone floors which can be noisy, but not too bad. You can choose from one full size bed or two twin beds. Get the twins. About a 12 Euro cab ride to Vatican City, 15 Euro to old Rome. Hotel will get you to the airport for 40 Euro. There is not a lot for tourists in the area. North of McDonalds (you'll find McDonalds) is a small outdoor gift shop and east of McDonalds is a very nice local eatery. You will know it by the spinning meat in the window, plus it just looks very clean. It's a great place to eat. The bus stop is about a block away and the Under Ground is about three blocks. We never road either, but the Yankees that did said they were clean, easy and safe. Try the jump on, jump off bus, 30 Euro. If I had it to do again that is the way I would go.

The staff at Grand Hotel Palazzo Carpegna was rude to us from the moment we checked-in to check-out. Not only were they rude to us but also to other guests. We asked for reservations in their restaurant and they told us they were full but did not offer any other suggestion. The bellhop was too busy chatting with his friends to help us or any other guests to their rooms including a family who had a lot of luggage and small children. The rooms were tiny, smaller than any of the other hotels we stayed in while in Italy. Also the rooms seemed dingy and cheap. There were scuff marks on the ceiling and dirty handprints on the wall.

This hotel provided the peace and quiet one wants when traveling. Sets fairly close to the vatican surrounded by a park. Once was used as a convent. Rooms were on the small side by american standards but clean and more the adequate. Breakfast was not included in the price. A good buffet breakfast was available for additional charge.

The hotel is about 10 Euros (by Taxi) from the Vatican. Offers to set up tours for you, pick up and drop off at hotel. Its 45 Euros from the airport. Room was very nice and clean. TV was small but it had some English speaking channels. Had towel warmer in bath.
