Went to this resort last week for New Years Eve with friends. This place is definitely not worth the money. The beach, pool and grounds are nice but that is pretty much it. Here are some of our experiences. In no way, shape, or form was this a 5 star hotel. - Showed up and were told we had no rooms. After talking with travel agency, suddenly the desk clerk changed his tune about being 100% booked and we got placed in the Oasis part of the hotel. This is not what we paid for. We paid to stay in the pyramid (Grand). - The entire area (buildings and grounds) smelled like urine/sewer. This included our room. Very unpleasant. - The door to the room had to be adjusted to get it to lock. Additionally, the doors have no security deadbolt or top latch. Fortunately, I was not alone but would NEVER recommend this hotel to females staying alone or with another female roommate. Very unsafe. - The rooms did not have even the basic features travelers expect. ONLY two bath towels (first day we had 2 beach towels for bath towels, the other days were very ratty and worn towels); requested additional towels on multiple occasions...never got them; no bath mat for a shower and bathroom that was made of slick, slate tile; no wash cloths on any day; - According to the website, all inclusive was supposed to include the room stocked with 2 beers and 2 bottled waters every day and have a small refrigerator. We did not have a fridge and never got bottled water. We had to wait an hour for bottles of water from room service AND tip. Unacceptable. - The water in the room smelled like sulfur and the rest of the room smelled like mildew. The only time my allergies were bad were in the room. I am allergic to mold/mildew. - The food at this place is atrocious. If you can get into a restaurant or can find one open, the food is not worth it. I heard so many people comment on how bad the food was. Our party ended up eating only chips and salsa and fruit for 3 days. - The service is non-existent. Every person that works there acts like it is an inconvenience that you want a drink or ask a question. Please understand that no one in our group is high maintenance. Good service when we paid what we did should be expected. It is NOT an amenity nor should it only be expected if you tip the staff ahead of time. The front desk staff flat lied to us during the attempt to check in. We were told they were 100% booked but suddenly they had rooms when the agent called them. Again, unacceptable. This was my first trip to Cancun and sadly, it was such a bad experience that I'm not sure I will return. If I do, it will not be at this hotel or any of there other properties.

hotel was a joke, no hot water for 3 days then it was yellow, no working phone in room, food was poor at best, worst hotel I have ever seen, the beach was so full of huge rocks you could not even go in the water....

The selection and service at the facility restaurants was very good. The first room was dingy. The desk staff was incompetent and apathetic. There was a broad range of restaurants and convenient bars and snack bars. The staff outside the main desk was very good. The desk staff was incompetent and did not care about the customers. The beach and pool areas were very nice. I would not return to this resort.

Came with a group of girls for spring break. I was a little nervous due to some of the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. We spent most of the days in the middle section of the pool (away from the spring breakers and in-pool bars). It was a very relaxing location. There are so many restaurants so there is always something that you will eat, even if you are a picky eater. The food was decent enough. The staff was usually pretty helpful and friendly. We did run into 1 or 2 that weren't so helpful or nice, but that was not the norm. They are constantly cleaning the place, like the lobby floor is cleaned 2-3 times a day. Upon checkout, they charged us for something from the mini-bar that we did not drink, but we complained, wrote a note on the bill, and it was removed.

We got a great deal on this vacation from the swine flu, and were spoiled rotten. The major (and I mean major) determining factor that made this trip so amazing was that we stayed in the good building, "phase 3." We had a daily restocked fridge and a great balcony in the sweet, non-smelly jungle-like building which was, truthfully, breathtaking . The other four buildings were smelly and poorly landscaped, with small rooms and no fridge to speak of. I didn't know I would get this deal when I booked it. The staff is nice, and if you tip them, they will hook you up. No cash, less cordiality. They expect it. Because its all inclusive, which made our stay even better, I recommend changing no less than 100 us dollars for singles, because I always felt guilty not tipping them. Free Room Service. Can anyone beat that? No. Hurricane Wilma devestated the beach, eroding about 10 feet of sand and exposing a combination of rebar and fairly sharp rocks beneath it. My girlfriend and I swam every day, but the singular best adjective to describe the beach would be dangerous. We saw someone get hurt, and got a little scratched. There are lifeguards, but these rocks could mess you up! Outside of these factors, our experience was outstanding. We had a wonderful time, and I recommend it highly.

The grounds were beautiful. All restaurant staff gave exceptional service. The food was quite marginal. Hotel rooms didn't share the same rating as the grounds. Grounds were gorgeous as was the beach the hotel was located on. The food was very average, we wouldn't choose an all inclusive next time. The staff in the restaurants and bars was fantastic and very personable. The most unattractive thing were the sales people all over the lobby with Oasis nametags that try to sell you on going to time share breakfasts repeatedly. All in all, a nice hotel although a bit on the steep side. I would not consider this a 4 or 5 star hotel, probably a 3.5.

When canadian travel firm went bankrupt the hotel immediatly demanded compensatory payment from the vacationers at this hotel. After the travelers we're informed of the amounts suddenly the staff could no longer speak english! On the day their bus was to leave 50 travelers gathered in the lobby and the hotel was surrounded by armed gaurds and police and we're informed no one was leaving until everyone had paid thousands. Not my kind of place to stay in a time of confusion. The hotel took a real rotten stance!

We spent 8 days there 6-28 to 7-5-09. The hotel itself was not that bad, however, the staff for the most part, was not friendly or helpful at all! The food was horible, we ate out most of the time. I was not impressed with Cancun at all! The water was not that pretty and you could not get in the water because of the HUGE rocks along the beach. I had read the reviews and had hoped it wasn't as bad as people were saying, but it was worse than I thought. The pool water was HOT so was not refreshing. Drinks were watered down and sweet. We were tipped to death, timeshare people everywhere, even at Walmart! The locals have become more aggresive, if you don't come into their stores, they would make rude remarks, and prices were very high. I have been to other parts of Mexico, this was the first trip to Cancun and I have no intention of ever returning to Cancun. Mexico Airport beware! do not throw away the top portion of the immigration papers they give back to you when going into Mexico. They wanted 500 pesos each person to give you another form! what a rip off! They keep on like they are going and Americans will not want to return to their country. Octavio @ Nautiles Dive Center was Excellent, highly recommend! We had a great time becuase I believe in making the best of everything, but I will never return to Cancun. I guess since it is a big tourist area, the locals just really take advantage of that and that was just a real big turn off for us. Hotel was clean for the most part, there was an odor, but it is Mexico. The first night, we had a huge coakroach in our room, but the rest of the time we had no trouble there. Lines for dinner was rediculous, they are just not in a hurry to serve and that makes the lines back up, it took us 3 hours to eat at the Mexican Restuarant that requires reservation, and we did not even get dessert. Hope that was helpful, have a good time!

Took my kids here over spring break. It was awesome. It is very big and layed out so the spring breakers are at one side of the location and parents or others on vacation are on the other side. The service was good, sometimes slow but no one should be in a rush on vacation anyway. All the employees were very nice. Check in is a little slow. I was amazed how they scrubbed down the rooms after check out. Food was fair but we could always find something we liked. Many restuarants to choose from. It was nice having a club on site for the kids to go to. The only drawback was that they don't have daily activies for the younger kids and activites going around the pool all the time. We will be back next year.

bad food! Although it says tips are included in the all inclusive description. If you don't tip everyone you will get bad service.

The hotel is very clean, staff is definitely friendly and there was always plenty to eat. The only distraction was the time share people that plant themselves at the front of the hotel all you have to do is avoid them or just tell them not today and they leave you alone. Other than that I have no complaints at all and I would go back over and over again. Perfect getaway.

This was my 4th trip to Mexico in the past three years, and it was, by far, the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. I traveled with my husband (he's 33, I'm 26) all 4 times and every time we have loved Cancun, up until now...... We decided to do the parasailing (which WAS fun, $50/person), but the guide took us on a 1/2 mile walk over slippery rocks in our bare feet to get from the side he was located on to where we got on the boat (when he could have easily walked upstairs on solid ground). NOT very helpful. Also, they have you sign a legal waiver, but no one tells you anything about what is going to happen. Just "sit here" and "hold this" and "would you like to tip us?" Every restaurant had a line and the workers treated us like cattle. 3 years ago when we stayed at the very same hotel they greeted us pleasantly all the time. This time, no one even looks you in the eye. Also, all of the restaurants used dirty linens. EVERY meal we had was on a dirty linen! The quality of the food went WAY down, and some of the restaurants only give one menu per table. The beach is almost non-existent. There is a small stretch of decent beach, but I guess the storm last year wiped about 75% of it out to sea. That is not the hotel's fault, but visitors should be warned... NOT a lot of beach here, which makes it very crowded. In your room, you get 2 bottles of water (one per person). That is your limit a day. ("Company politics" they told us.) Sooo..... if you try to find another bottle anywhere, the cost is $2/bottle ($7/bottle for the ones you get in your room). On the first night that I was there I was SO thirsty that I walked from our room to the front desk to get a bottle of water, and they told me I would have to call room service (which would take 1 1/2 hours). I asked where I could go now to get a drink of water and they told me the bar. So when they took me to the "bar," it was a table with some snacks and 2 bottles of water that they were selling. NO WATER?!?!?!? After talki

My friend and I just got back from the Grad Oasis, we read many bad review. We were a litte nervous. The bad review we read were not true. DO NOT believe them. It was an awesome trip. Place was very clean. Friendly staff. Room was cleaned every day and mini bar was restocked. Seemed to be a little under staffed. That would be the only negative. I would go back again and I would stay at this resort! I would tell my friends and family to stay as well!!!!! NYC

Made reservations the day before for a three night stay. I was early for check in so changed and went to pool. When I did get my room it was awesome. Ocean front with baloney! There was plenty of good food..(ate mostly at the buffet) Day one hung out ate and drank. (Couple at next table invited me over as I was alone.) Day two went on dive trip ate and drank. (While waiting for table, single lady invited me to her table...then we went to show together.) Day three got massage ate and drank some more. One thing if you are a big beach goer. There is limited swimming area due to sharp rocks on beach to prevent erosion. And dont be afraid to negotiate and buy from beach vendors...they seem hard working and honest. (I bought some silver ankle bracelets)

The service staff is excellent. The accomadations were clean and the veiws were amazing. We booked our trip less than 12 hours before arrival and the hotel reception was very accomadating when we requested a room change(Spring Break) Your best options are to upgrade, for the additional money you have access to some of the best restuaraunts. The food was fresh and very tasty. Tip: early risers get the chairs of their choice by the pool.

When we arrived the hotel lobby was really nice. That is the best thing we can say about this hotel. We had to wait several hours for our room to be ready & we weren't the only ones. Many other guests were too. We had to call several times for service to the toilet which did not flush and actually over flooded 2x. Also we had to change out our remote control 2x withing a 36 hour period. Lastly the food was mediocre and the Royal Holiday Staff is very pushy...stay away from them!

This resort is terrible. When we got to the resort they had no reservations for us and was not willing to help us at all. We finally managed to get a terrible room hours later. (no mini bar, no hot water, toilet would barely flush, water stunk) No mini bar means nothing to drink, no way to brush your teeth, it was terrible. They put us in the oasis resort and I paid for Grand Oasis. I will never in my life visit this resort again.

If you want to have fun and you are between the ages of 18-30, this hotel is a MUST. Full of young party people. The hotels restaurants were amazing, especially the sushi one. Don't expect to check into your room before 4pm. That is the only bad thing about this hotel, is the check in process and the staff at the front lobby are the worst. The bartenders are great and will give you good stuff if you tip them.

We reserved deluxe oceanfront rooms, when we checked in the hotel manager said that they were overbooked and put us in a room at the back of the property for the first night, the view was horrible. After 36 hours in this room they finally moved us to the proper oceanfront location, the rooms were missing the mini bars, it took over 12 hours to have them delivered... they were supposed to re-stock it each day with 2 big bottles of water and more beer....2 days in a row it wasn't re-stocked, again when I called the front desk, they said it was on the way.....(never came) they didn't have hot water to take a shower, it was barely warm, and for an entire day the plumbing was shut off, sink, toilet, shower,etc..... When we called the front desk about the problems, they said it would be handled in two hours, the answer was always two hours...... Needless to say I would not recommend this property to anyone.
