I've been to the Dominican Republic once before, and I have to admit this trip was pretty much the same. It is a cheap place to go and you get what you pay for. We were originally supposed to go to Mexico but because of the Swine Flu outbreak we were forced to change our destination 6 days before we left. Everywhere else was either booked up or very expensive, so our only budget-friendly option was DR. First, the lobby. VERY VERY slow. You could go to the lobby and ask a question, leave, come back 2 minutes later and get the opposite response. You definitely have to just "go with the flow" or you could end up very stressed out. Having been to DR before, I expected this to SOME degree so I was ok with it for MOST of the trip. My only "fit" I had was at the main restaurant. Most of the guests were grumpy and I couldn't figure out why, I figured it out when I tried to get some food. Either there wasn't enough plates, or soup bowls, or SOMETHING was missing at most stations so you couldn't get any food. I tried to ask for a soup spoon for the soup that I somehow managed to get in the last bowl available. While I waited for the waiter to come back with a spoon, I stood in line at the pasta station over 20 minutes while the guy served other people (I was waiting for another guy to come back with fresh Alfredo sauce). After at least 20 minutes, the guy finally says "I guess he is not bringing any back". I got back to my seat (without food), only to find that "spoon" somehow meant "fork" to the waitress, and she took my soup! (My friend tried to tell her to leave it but she grabbed it anyway) So I went back up to get more soup - no bowls. I tried to get a coffee cup instead - no coffee cups clean! So I went to the bar and asked for a coffee cup. I waited at least 10 minutes and I was about to pull out some money to get their attention - there was no one there but staff chatting. After arguing why I needed a coffee cup (they didn't understand english), I gave up. Went back t

The hotel was bad. We were very dissapointed. It says 5 stars but we consider it very low. the staff was good, but besides that the food wasnt great, there was not electricity sometimes, air conditioners didnt work right, room phones didnt work, the rooms smell bad, needs alot of renovatins....

the hotel was definitely not luxury - the rooms were not really clean, the furniture handles came off, the hotel nickel and imed you on oall kind of stuff - for example the safe deposit box in the room cost $21.00 per week - what was I supposed to do other than pa - leave my passport and jewelry around the room - also internet service was expensive - no dialy newspapers -the casino is a rip off - but everyone knows that-

First of all please believe this review. I went to Punta Cana in April during the Easter break. The rooms were very clean and the AC was not as cold as it should of been. The staff was very disorganized they spoke little to no english. They were a mixure of rude and nice people but we had a Idea they were cursing at us in spanish and calling us black girls. The food was awful and it made me sick everyday and the drinks were watered down. we were hoping to have some dominican food but they did not serve a grain of rice. The resort did not have any evening entertainment the only source of entertainmemt was our Ipods! The resort is so far away from the nearest club. The cab drivers wanted to charge us $50 for a round trip and the hotel wanted to charge us the same if we wanted to travel with them. The best time my friend and I had was the beach. It was so relaxing and comfortable. I am sad to say that the beach was the only thing that made us happy. Outside the hotel it was very poor and unfriendly. There was something about that country that made us not want to return. The people there was rude and nasty to you if you were not buying anything. They are very pushy which makes you uncomforable. the picture of the hotel and the resort on this site and others was a lie. I am now starting to believe any reviews I read, because people are telling the truth about these horrible resorts. The Dominican Republic totaly lost a frequent traveler. This country is not for me. 80% of the people there were rude Europeans, who were 400 pound topsless women!! Please believe this review. do not stay here, Find a 4 star or better. The more you spend the happier you will be.

How can you have morning breakfast and have no coffee cups on the table??? When staff addressed about this shortage their acknowledgement was dismissive.

I love this hotel, it could do with a little up dating but this is our second time and it only gets better. The entertainment crew are fantastic, my teenage daughtser had so much fun and it is great value.

It was a good value. Not the 5 star but we didn't pay the 5 star price either. The staff was very friendly, helpful and it was a nice stay. There were shops on site but just 2 mins. outside the resort was a little market. Same merchandise everywhere for the most part but it's nice to give the money to those guys. You will be pulled into each place so just go with it and have fun with them.

Our first visit and we found the resort very clean, the food options were multiple and outstanding. The staff was out of this world friendly and accommodating. Multiple pools, great beach front and the location was very close to one mile stretch of undeveloped beautiful beach. A smaller resort, every thing was convenient for walking to and the entertainment was just enough. A few days before our departure a small group of college kids did arrive and were located in our wing, which had been marvelously quiet. Staff was very willing to move us and we were given a free upgrade for our trouble. We did find inclusive water sport equipment to have a one half hour limit; not really enough time! We have done quite a bit of traveling the past five years and we will go back to Grand Oasis again at some point.

Hotel did not have air conditiong working untill 9:00 PM on the last night. We were totaly exhausted from the heat at night. Complained many times, I tried to contact hotel for refund, no luck, they put me on hold each time. You need to deal with this. This is the second review that you asked for. I contacted Orbitz twice already. I want a refund from hotel

There were 10 of us in the group. To get chairs together someone had to be at the pool pretty early. Thanks goodness we had some early risers in the group. We never had any trouble getting seated as a group for dinner anywhere and the food was great!! At the beach [...] is your guy. Thanks for everything [...]! Walking the beach is so relaxing and it was always clean. Don't pay any attention to any bad reviews you might read. I read some before we went and worried just a little. But it was awesome. Go to the Grand Oasis and ENJOY. We sure did! We parasailed, rode the bannana boat and sailed the katamaran - Wow the water is absolutely beautiful!!

Tetering on a 4 star resort, the Grand Oasis punta cana has only a few minor adjustments to bring this charming resort to the next level. The most and only needed fixes were the bathrooms in the rooms. The tile work and fixtures were awful and the need for bathtubs are a definate no no and a waste of space. But all else got a big thumbs up! Our stay sped by like most great trips do.We strolled down the expansive coastline with warm ,gin clear water up to our ankles as it gently lapped the shore . We also basked daily in the warm sun sipping yummy tropical drinks and nibbling on superb local cusine. The entire staff could not do enough and always had a smile and a nice things to say. The grounds were picturesque with their regal like manecure and healthy display of incredible flora and fauna.Among the swaying palm trees the resident flamingos were absolutely pink and beyond beautiful easily atrracting other local feathered freinds that always swooped in for a leasurely visit. A majestic great white heron made daily visits as well as he slowly tip toed through the foliage in search of an insect or two.Out on the beach, our feet were treated to soft ,cool brilliantly white sand and a diligent beach maint crew who kept the waters edge spotless from the seeweed that would wash ashore. There were plenty of chairs to stretch out on.And an ocean veiw that will keep you in a constant trance all day long. Treat you and a loved one to aday at the spa for a much needed pampering . It was the best ever. My only major complaint is the incessively aggressive ,annoying excursion personell who would not take no for an answer. My wife is spanish and she even tried to nicely explain to them in spanish that we were not interestd, but to no avail. These people need to be physically removed from this property, never to return again. Now I realize this is a source of additional revenue ,but you can market excusions in a less obtrusive way as to not annoy your guests. With that said. We will not

I was very impressed with the ease of checking in. I was greeted with a fruit drink and a friendly staff. My room was very comfortable and clean, although I upgraded to a Jr Suite and in which I highly recommend you to do so. I made friends with other guests who did not have a Jr. Suite and I am not sure if my high praise for this hotel would have been the same if I had not upgraded to the Jr Suite. The Casino was fun, but more importantly the beach was very relaxing and beautiful. I spent the majority of the day playing beach volleyball and making new friends. My only disappointment was the food. I was expecting more typical Caribbean food, but it appears that the Resort was trying to accommodate their guests by providing a selcetion of American, Italian, Mexican and Asian cuisine that I was not impressed with. I was still able to find a few dishes that I enjoyed, but overall that was my only disappointment. Not too much to complain about when you are on the white sand beach of Punta Cana! Enjoy!

The Grand Oasis provided very good service, a clean and comfortable room and many dining and activities options. Check-In was quick and accurate, all further contact with the front desk staff was met with a fast acknowledgement and service. Check-Out was the same. The room was centrally located equadistant from the restaurants, lobby, tennis, smimming pools and beach. There were 2 double beds, balcony and large bathroom, the maid came and introduced herself as I entered the room, and she brought two 1 liter bottles of water that I requested within moments. Each day she greeted me in the hallway and asked if I needed anything. The room was made up and clean towels provided everyday while I was at breakfast or the beach. The pools were clean and warm, one with a bar that was uncrowded with service instantaneously. The beach had lovely white sand with several acres of property, some shaded by coconut palms, some in direct sunlight. The water was warm but had much sea grass, though most swimmers did not seem to mind it. I am somewhat spoiled by St. John's Trunk Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches and sea in the world, so the two realy do not compare. There were no vendors annoying sunbathers, I only ever saw one gal advertising hairbraiding and one man selling paintings, but he sat and waited for customers to approach. The guide stayed in the rear of the group and made sure the beginners were doing okay. We rode to a family home and were served espresso and shown a traditional DR home. The family was well-dressed and smiling, but very poor with minimal living quarters, which they kept tidy and clean. The food at Oasis was abundant. There were three a la carte restaurants that I was able to access without reservations, but I chose to go for every meal to the buffet dining room. The windows were many, but closed so no insects were inside, like flies or mosquitoes. The buffet was different every day and included meats hot & cold, pastas hot & cold, veggies and fruits pr
