The hotel was great, the room was comfortable, clean, big, although they never left water bottles or shampoo or body lotion. You should advice the people staying in this hotel because the beach is horrible; instead of sand it has stones. you cant bath there. I was very dissapointed about the beach, everything was perfect, the pools, the hotel staff, the food, the room, until I saw the beach.

Overall, we were very pleased with this property. It was really a great value. The grounds were impecabbly landscaped and clean. It was a bit of a walk from our building (#5) to the lobby and pool area. We were dissapointed in the shuttle service as we almost never found this service convenient. Shuttles were scheduled to arrive every 15 minutes and at times they did not show up at all. The interconnecting pools were great. We rotated to different pool areas and the kids really enjoyed the lagoon/infinity pool. You could rent a palapya for $35USD but can get a refund at checkout if you spend $30 in food or drink on the day of your reservation. A really great deal. The poolside food was good quality (club sandwhiches, burgers, pizza...).

They tore up the contract and told me not to worry about. What a nightmare. There is no one on site because everyting is so damn expensive! so do not go here go to another All inclusive resort for FREE near by! And do not book with Travelocity, IF you have a problem, they WILL NOT RESOVLE IT! Try www.EXPEDIA.com, they have great service and wont leave you hanging!

We went to The Grand Mayan for our honeymoon in June 2008. This was the most amazing vacation we have EVER TAKEN. It was beautiful, the staff was most helpful, eager to please, and always readily available. The food was okay - we loved the 19th hole (its a small restaurant near the golf course). The beach is not that great, due to the reef, its very choppy water, and the coral is very rough on feet, so def bring shoes for walking in/on beach. Our room was beautiful, we loved it. It sucks that other ppl gave this resort bad reviews, I cannot even imagine how that happend - but I can vouch for the bad reviews, this place was AMAZING. We want to go back SOOO BAD, and take our friends and family. So gorgeous!

Beautiful facility staffed by poorly-trained, but nice, people. They do not know where their rooms are in the myriad buildings. Once -- after four tries -- we found (by ignoring staff directions and exploring) our rooms, the rooms vere very nice. The room service staff was excellent. Travel to P. d. Carmen or Cancun is a bit of an affair, but both destinations were worth the trouble. We are experienced Mixican visitors, with this being trip number nine to the area in question. Good luck -- try the Royal time share organization (no surprises, only solid service). Royal gets our tip of the hat for best value; these guys do not.

Upon arriving we knew this vacation would be unforgettable. The service was amazing, the front desk lady even upgraded us to a suite (it was our honeymoon). Our room was perfect in every sense, the AC was set at a comfy temperature, everything was just INCREDIBLE. Staff was so friendly. Food was pretty good. I love the beach side service, where you order drinks/food on your beach chair, and they bring it to you. The only thing I would recommend is giving yourself 45+ minutes checkout, since a lot of other people are checking out, it could put you behind schedule. And make sure to book your tours and such at LEAST 24 hrs in advance. I feel as though I need to defend any poor reviews of this resort. It truly was amazing, and I CANNOT WAIT to go back again, this time I want to bring friends so they can experience it too. TIP: Buy bottled water in YOUR ROOM, and then take it with you - to the pool, beach, in to town.... etc They will sell you the SAME bottle of water for 3x as much at the resorts beach/pool etc. So buy it in your room and STOCK UP! We bought 10 at a time. Definitely the nicest vacation I think I will ever have the privilege of taking!

We were decieved into coming to thsi resort and told that we would go to a 90 minute presentation that took 6 long hours where we were considerate to listen and the would not take no for an answer. Would never go or recommend this place to any one

If you are looking for a great place to just sit back and relax, then the Grand Mayan Riviera Maya is the place to stay. We stayed in a one bedroom suite that was spacious and offered a kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave. The food at the resort is not inexpensive but is an excellent value. I did not have one bad meal during my stay. I would highly suggest the breakfast buffet at the Del Lago restaurant. It costs approximately 16 but there is a multitude of things to choose from including several lunch type items. It made for a geat brunch on the way to the wonderful pool. If you are looking for ocean swimming then bring appropriate footwear because the ocean floor here is rocky but the beach itself is very nice and provides for a great view. The staff is also well trained, polite and anxious to fulfill your every need. I would highly recommend the Grand Mayan Riviera Maya for your vacation near Cancun or Playa del Carmen. Several sightseeing tours are also offered but we did not take advantage of these as we were very content to spend our days poolside enjoying this beautiful resort.

We found everyone very friendly, The pool was the largest I have ever seen. The drinks could be costly, but you wait for happy hour(there is three different happy hours) Then it's great value. Room service is fantastic and very reasonable. The Tramoto restuarant was 5 star.

We had a great time at the Grand Mayan. Our room was spacious and beautiful. The friendly staff saw to our every need and buildings and grounds were pristeen. It is a large area and the pool and beach required a 5 to 10 minute walk which we enjoyed but there was a shuttle running constantly to take you where you wanted to go should you not care to walk. The golf course was amazing and fun. We booked area tours at the resort which were wonderful. The location between Cancun and Playa de Carmen was perfect. We spent time at both as well as Cozumel. The food is not inexpensive in all restaurants but we prefer lunch and breakfast in our room anyway and go out for a nice dinner. They have a kids club should you decide to travel with your children...they seemed to be nicely entertained.
