Wow, what a wonderful time we had. Wonderful rooms with ocean views and spa tub in your room for romantic days and nights. The food was wonderful, the drinks even better. The staff were very, very attentive. Wonderful drinks and great activities that can keep you busy all day (most activities were free). Wonderful games during lunch (win nice prizes) Great evening activities, beach parties, night club, slot machines, ping pong, pool tables, chess. Great water activities. Beautiful beach.

My wife and I have just returned and I must admit it was a great place. This was our first time to go to Jamaica but it will not be our last. We really liked the personnel of the hotel, and the service was always with a smile. Very Very impressive. To the Staff of the Grand Lido, we say thank you and hope to see you again soon.

Grand Lido is a place I visited many years ago, and somehow this resort left me with the feeling that I would return one day. About 10 years later, we returned only to be so dis-appointed with a very tired, runned down hotel that lost it's own identity to a class of it's own. We were so dis-appointed that we booked this hotel rather than a Sandals or Couples. Unfortunately the hotel has not maintained it's standard of excellence. My husband and I travel at least 6 times a year to many different places and we were very dis-appointed with the hotel and the lack of ammenities. Angie Titton

First of all, their web site is very misleading. The yacht has been gone for at least 4 years but still appears on the website. The "state of the art" welcome lounge at the airport is just a lime green room with a few small sofas in it where they offer you room tempature bottled water while you wait for your transfer to the hotel. There were no daily activities the entire week we were there. They appeared on the daily schedule but never happened. Everytime we inquired when an activity was going to begin we were told that the Activities Director was not there. Cigarette butts littered the beach, you had better get your towel early because they run out and it takes a long time for them to get restocked. They would run out of things in the resturants and on the buffet. Things like hamburger buns and English muffins. My hamburger was served on regular bread--which I hate at home, much less at a "5 star" resort. They ran out of potato skins, but had potatoes for hash browns, which was weird. They ran out of pizza one night. We had our anniversary dinner in the french resturant. The food was excellent. They brought us a cake for dessert which we asked to have sent to our room--it showed up 4 days later! Overall I thought the food was good--when they weren't out of it--but the service was slow and the resort diffinately was NOT worth the money we spent. They need to update their website as it greatly overexagerates the quality of the place. I would not recommend Grand Lido.

First the place was nice don't get me wrong but there was just a few things that would have made it better. #1 the first night we were there i pulled down the sheets and we had ants in the bed. Not cool. The quality of the drinks were just average. there was no top shelve. The lunch was just ok, and it was a long walk to the main buffet thats why i think I lost weight, and not gained. the night time entertanment was poor, and we left around 9pm. Now for the good parts. Diner was great each night at a different place. The french was the best.Great food and service for every place. The beach was also great. Clean warm and the water sports guys wher also very nice. All and all we had a very nice time at GL but I think We will try Sandels next.

The hotel is not build as a five star property. No Marble anywhere.The Pool is tiny.Some mornings there were no fresh towels for the beach.Flies all over the food!!Poor fruit selection.Food was terrible in general!!Example: One day I asked for sliced avocado the waitress told me that such a thing is impossible because their avocado comes from a can.The "cyber cafe" consisted of 2 computers. Internet was down 3 out of the 5 days I was there.Hoestly I could go on and on about how bad this place is. To top it all off it's not cheap!!!!

This was our first time at the Grand Lido Negril and we will definitely return. The staff was friendly, the room was great, and the atmosphere was romantic and relaxing. Make sure you pack plenty of sunscreen and a hat. My husband and I both burned our scalp!

more like a 3 star, no king size bed,instead a double bed placed together that separates, if there is plenty of movement. some a/c not up to par. outside door not in good shape. grounds are well kept, main whirlpool out of order,no lamb chops, not vegetarian friendly either. actually the worst food i've ever had at many resorts i've visited. food is o.k. if your on a high carb diet plenty of bread,potatoe,pasta. lunch buffet is equal to a * in the states. dry cleaning machine broke,bike riding will not go one on one. my 3rd trip to jamiaca, i'm going back to that resort that begins with the letter c, and has a 3 1/2/ star they try harder. money wasted at this place. good feature here great shower and bathroom.

Some of the staff were very friendly but others were not and did not even smile. We had some trouble receiving the spa credit even with an email from Orbitz. We eventually got it but it was a big hassle. The food was fabulous and we were impressed with their food safety program. We were booked into the clothing optional part which kind of shocked us but it was an interesting experience.

The Grand Lido Negril was a wonderful place. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The room was cozy, the food choices were great, and for the most part, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach is awesome! There were plenty of activities to keep us occupied when we didn't feel like just lounging around. On the less positive side, while the idea of having seven shower heads is wonderful, its pretty ineffective when the water pressure provided will barely drive one shower head adequately. Also, the iniability to get internet access anywhere except the main lobby was a bit disappointing. Besides these minor inconveniences, Grand Lido Negril was great! We will definitely consider going there again.

Grand Lido never disappoints - It's the most luxurious hotel. The staff was great. We had a wonderful time eventhough the weather was not always great we did not notice with all the other activities and the great people at the hotel. I celebrated my 40th birthday and with very little notice they had an original Jamaican fruit cake with all the trimmings. My only complaint is the buffet lunch. I wish they had a little more variety. We had jerk chicken almost every day. I appreciated the attempt at authentic Jamaican food but there is more to Jamaican food then jerk chicken. The lamb chops and chicken wings is still to die for.

Grand Lido Negril appeared to be a nice upscale hotel, but it really needs an upgrade on the furniture in the rooms. It was old and outdated. The bathrooms were remodeled. The buffet breakfast/lunch was awful. It smelled of insecticide and didn't cater to jamaican cuisine. The other restaurants on the property were fairly good, but only available for dinner. Another important thing is the staff at the front desk area were not too friendly.

We stayed at Grand Lido Negril 04/12-19/2008. This was our second trip to Jamaica, having stayed at Grand Lido Braco in 2006. We chose GLN seeking an upscale, adults-only, resort that would offer quiet relaxation with comfortable, clean accomodations, a choice of quality water-activity options, and good food. For the most part, our expectations were met. GLN appears to be a somewhat older, but very well-maintained facility. It is set on a beautiful stretch of beach, and the grounds were immaculate. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and appeared to have been recently renovated/upgraded. Particularly nice features were the large new flat-screen TV (although channel selections are limited) and a modern tile shower that surrounds you with water flowing from 7 separate showerheads at different heights. All rooms contain refrigerators that are restocked daily. Daily maid service was sometimes later than we would have liked, but was always done well - bath towels were even replaced a second time at nightly turn-down, which is a nice touch at beach locations when you're taking multiple daily showers. The beach area was beautiful, clean and relatively quieter and more relaxing than some of the other, larger, chain resorts we passed further down when we walked the beach. There is a beach bar conveniently located at one end of the GLN section of the beach, and for those who don't want to walk even that far, the waitstaff makes frequent rounds on the beach filling both drink and food orders. GLN offered a wide range of water-sport options and equipment, ranging from simple water floats to kayaks, wind-surfing, hobiecats, snorkling (at the resort or off-site excursions), and scuba diving (including in-pool lessons for beginners). If we had one big disappointment, is was the swimming pool. It's clean and well-maintained, but is tiny by today's resort standards. They really need to re-invest in a pool upgrade. The Grand Lido Negril, overall, was a disappointment. The only pluses were the beach itself, which was beautiful, and the water, which was warm and inviting. Since there are no young children, the place was fairly quiet, which we liked. Upon check-in, we were shown to our room which was FAR from the main buildings and main beach. When we asked to be moved to another room(not an upgrade)closer in, we were told, for the first time, that there was an additional $75.00 per diem charge for this. By the time we learned this, several hours had passed and we were too tired to argue. The entire place needs renovation( it was built in 1990): furniture is dated, room tiles were cracked, the doors to the room balcony had no outside handles and didn't close right; the pool deck tiles were cracked or missing, etc. The room balcony is so small it can barely hold 2 people. The cushions on the chairs were completely worn and flat. The water temperature worked on some kind of strange thermostat and was always too hot no matter what we did. On the plus side, the bed, closet and drawer space were fine. An electronic safe is provided for valuables and worked fine. Premium liquors , wines and beer are being available at Grand Lido. We usually drink vodka: Ketel 1 or Gray Goose. Neither was available: all they had was Stolichnaya. Even that was not available at all times: we were constantly being told that they had run out of it. Another couple who checked in with us wanted Heineken: they were also told that none was available. Service was inconsistent. Most of the staff was friendly, courteous and tried to help. The food was about average for an all-inclusive: just OK (to be fair, we didn't expect anything else). At times, however, there were strange inconsistencies: for example, the first cup of coffee poured at our table in the morning was fine. The second cup was watered down. Grand Lido Negril is a wonderful way to spend a vacation. Everything about the hotel is lovely. The staff spends all day being nice to the guests and the rooms are comfortable and spacious -all facing the sea. This hotel has one of the nicest beaches I have ever been on - lots of chairs and room for all. The watersports staff is extremely helpful; they will teach you to sail, scubadive, snorkle, waterski, kayak, and are just plain friendly and fun. I recommend the Grand Lido for couples although there were a few young adults there- If you want a vacation on the beach with every amenity you could possibly wish for go to Jamaica Grand Lido Negril.
