Swimming Pool and overal resort facilities were awesome except for expensive food price and unfriendly concierge staff(just one specific person, but I do not remember her name)

It's an open-air hotel surrounded by beautiful garden and ponds. Next to the ocean, I could see humpback whales everyday from my balcony. Fantastic! I wasn't very happy with the food. It's simply wonderful! I would tell anyone who can to go there, it's worth the money!

Resort staff were very easy to deal with and honestly friendly. On-site services were very expensive but of high quality.

We just returned from a week-long stay at the Hyatt in Kauai. Truly, Kauai is such a magical place that staying anywhere would most likely be fine, but the Hyatt is a bit special. The grounds and pools really are spectacular. Everyone says it, but when you're floating around in one of the many freshwater, meandering pools or zipping down the water slide, you truly feel like you're in another world. The hotel is staffed with friendly bell hops, housekeepers, wait staff, etc. The front desk was always courteous, the concierge helpful (but often times difficult to reach because they are so busy). It's expensive... lots of incdentals that pile up. 4 water bottles, 15 resort fee, 15 wireless internet, etc. Room service was prompt and friendly, the food was ok. The food was DELICIOUS at Donderos -- definitely our favorite meal on the whole island. Tidepools was romantic... until I saw a cockroach (island style = BIG). Stevenson's Library was great for cocktails and sushi on the weekends. And their Luau was fun and almost worth the 92 per person (good mai tais!). Our stay included the breakfast buffet each morning - which was lovely (ordinary food, but stunning locale and friendly service made it great). We also spent some time at the Anara Spa - bliss!! Poipu is a good place to be - although the drive up to the North Shore can be long. We tried Roy's down the street for dinner one night and were disappointed. Roy's on the mainland is always wonderful, but the one in Poipu is not. Have a Puka dog instead (also in the Poipu Shopping Center). Overall, Kauai is just a breathtaking island where you can catch your breath and relax and the Hyatt just makes it easier to do so.

The room was a little tired. The grounds, pools, waterfalls, resident swan and waterslide were amazing. You can't miss getting fabulous photos!

Pretty close to flawless. Maybe a hint of wear in the rooms and dining can be high even for Hawaii, but this is just a good hotel in so many ways. Beautiful landscaping. Good, not just adequate, parking. High proportion of ocean view rooms. Beautiful lobby. No serious negatives.

We started off at the Hyatt Grand in KauaiI for our honeymoon & felt like we had reached paradise from the moment we stepped foot in the lobby. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the staff is excellent and the pools are to die for! We loved the Hyatt so much we ditched the plans for the last 4 days of our honeymoon and went back.

We had an excellent time on our honeymoon at the Grand Hyatt. The rooms were very nice, the staff was excellent and very friendly, and the food/restaurants were amazing. Room service was superb. The location is great and was halfway between all of the sites on the island, which made traveling and driving easy. We are already dreaming about our return to this hotel!

We ended our weeklong stay in Kauai with a night of elegance and bliss at the Grand Hyatt. The evening prior we enjoyed their luau and a couples massage at the Anara Spa which is excellent too. Everything about our experience was first class - the staff, room, amenities, views, dining - they have it all covered. If you're in Kauai, we definitely recommend this resort!

Great location! Close to many good restaurants and great beaches. The concierge was very helpful in helping us book a kayaking trip, boat ride and luau. The pools are great and the grounds are immaculate!

Absolutely beautiful. I feared a room next to the laundry or garbage dump for the price but were pleasantly pleased with the walk out room to the gardens and the small details that made our stay memorable. Dinner was excellent at the Tidewater Grill; at breakfast, we sat and watched the waves come crashing to shore, a swan swimming in a Koi pond, and tropical beauty and yes, breakfast was perfect. We rented a car; the person spent the time to recommend some of the most gorgeous nature beauties of the Kauai Island.

Wow. Can I say WOW again? This resort is magnificent! The pools and there are many give everyone more than enough room to spread out. The rooms are newly done and have an airy feel to them. Fitness center was also great and the Spa was simply amazing. The only problem here is you'll want to stay longer!

We had a fabulous time @ the Grand Hyatt Kuai. When we were preparing for the trip, it had been recommended that we either stay here or at the Princeville. Oh my goodness, I am so GLAD that we chose here over the Princeville. On the last day of our stay in Kuai, we went to visit the Princeville and the two properties can not compare. The Princeville was a Mariott Courtyard at a St. Regis Price. (smile). The Grand Hyatt, was relaxing, Fabulous beauty and quiet. A great visit for couples, familes with young children or teenagers. If you are a couple with no children - NO WORRIES, you never really know that children are around. The Hotel does a fantastic job of having "ADULT" locations - and well respected and maintained as such. In addition, there are many sites to see and things to do on the Island. Have a wonderful stay at the Grand Hyatt. PS - the staff is great and very accomodating.

This hotel is one of the most beautiful resort properties on Kauai. Lovely designed and well maintained. To get a visual impression of it, you can go to www.bluehawaiian.com. They have a video clip of the hotel, taken from a plane's perspective. Rooms are very spacious, with private lanai. Staff were very friendly. And Poipu has often better weather than other places on the island.

The pools were amazing. Hotel staff was extremely attentive. Food was ridiculously overpriced. The Grand Hyatt was definitely grand. From the start, we had amazing service. The hotel was beautiful. The pool area was amazing- by far the best pools we have seen, and we have stayed at a lot of hotels. There were always chairs, even when it was busy. The only thing that I would not consider 5 star are the rooms. The bed was comfortable and the room was decent-sized, but the TV was small and outdated, the bathroom was definitely not 5 start (double sink- good, but bathtub- bad). The towels were not nice at all. The restaurants were very expensive, and even though there was a number of them, we did not feel that they had enough variety.

We absolutely fell in love with the island and this resort when we were there for our wedding anniversary. The staff was always friendly and accommodating to our needs, and the grounds were very nice and well-kept. Our room was pretty spacious considering it was just the two of us, and we had a lovely view of the ocean from our lanai. Food and drink was good, but pricey as some others have mentioned, but we sort of expected that. The pools were very nice and probably our favorite part of the resort. We spent many afternoons and evenings in the saltwater lagoon, pools and Jacuzzis after a full day of doing nothing but relaxing. We DEFINITELY recommend this resort and we actually plan on staying there again when we go in May 2008.

I traveled with my daughter, 9, and my mom, 74, and this was the perfect hotel for us. Everything about the hotel felt easy and safe. The pictures of the pool and lagoon really don't capture how elaborate it all is. The only negatives are ones that have already been commented on extensively (expensive food, long walks to pool/lobby), so I'll share mostly advice--The dock portions are big, and my daughter and I shared their huge sandwiches for lunches-not expensive for Kauai. Also breakfast at the coffee bar- Seaview Terrace-big fruitplate and coffee-not expensive. We ate at Tidepools and loved it. Keoki's Paradise not really our style, but I should add that we are not drinkers. I highly, highly recommend doing the Allerton Garden tour at the Botanical Gardens, and also horseback riding at Silver Falls Ranch. We can't wait to go back. Amazing, safe swimming for people who are not strong swimmers.
