If you go hear looking for faults you will find them. Go with the attitude that it’s a magnificent building and get lost in its history and you will be OK. The room was a bit drab but so what. It was warm and expectable. The food was not bad and once again expectable. The staff treated us ok it’s often a matter of how you treat them it works both ways! We would go back, but this place is not for the serial moaner.

Rooms were very satisfactory but unfortunately food wasn't. Main meals were tasteless and seemed to have been kept warm for long time. No sideplates or extra knife. 60s weekend was a disappointment as not as in previous years when a famous group appeared - just tribute bands. On Sunday night when hotel was full only two bar staff on duty! What staff were there worked very hard.

Grand hotel not so grand. Rooms a let down. Staff unprofessional and unfriendly. Meals like those served in a canteen. Location is the best thing about hotel. Won't be going there again.

grand hotel reviewthe special rate prompted us to book 2 nights. The pokey room was a disgrace .No view ,on 5th floor with a minute, dilapidated bathroom which had antiquated plumbing, little illumination and sloping floors. The bedspread was dirty and the matress most uncomfortable. Electrical wiring hung from the ceiling and dirt marks on the wall were evident where workmen had not cleaned up. Water pipes from early 19th century stood proud of the walls .Generally a bad experience and , even at discounted rates , not good value for money

A Grand wedding aniversaryWe found the staff very helpful and polite the hotel was clean but showing some signs of wear although it did look like renovations were in progress. The room was spotless and the bed very comfortable the bathroom was a good size with a spar bath very relaxing could of stopped in there for hours. The bar service was good and the prices reasonable all in all we had a very pleasant stay and would deffinately go back again it is deffinately worh booking the premier room for the view and the bathroom.

for the oldiesstayed here on sunday night. If it wasnt for the fact we only paid £55 i would have made serious complaints.this hotel is old and in need of refurb. our room smelt bad of foist. When leaving the cleaner stripped our bed before we left and i noticed she was just changing the sheets and not the blanket or the cover, which is disgusting. The evening meal was the worse ever we couldnt even tell what the meat was supposed to be, but the breakfast was ok.The evening entertainment was in a tiny room that didnt accomodate many people so most people sat in the lobby.i wouldnt stay here again even other guest were complaining.there is also no car parking unless you are lucky to get outside.

Still the best and most iconic hotel in Britain. The most iconic hotel in Britain & still my favourite. Even without a seaview it is still wonderful. The room was clean and more than adequate. The bathroom was really lovely with a spa bath which I was not expecting. The food is basic but really very tasty and the views from the restaurant alone are worth the visit. It is truly the greatest hotel in the country. Ooozing charm and character. It has its own identity so lacking in other hotels. It has quirks but they only go to add to the fun and experience of staying. I love it and may long it continue.

The hotel was very run down, not very clean and with 2 small lifts which were continually breaking down. As my room was next to the lift shaft, I was contiually woken during the night by the alarm bell being pushed each time the lift doors refused to open. Reception staff did not seem to care about customers' concerns and said any contact with the hotel manager had to be put in an e-mail. Room TV was small and with no remote control. Worst thing was the food - it was of a VERY poor standard. I paid an extra £7 a night to upgrade to their 'premier restaurant'. The surroundings were better but the food just as bad so I ate out on the 3rd night rather than face another poor meal.

spur of the moment breakon arrival, was allowed to book straight into our room, asked for seaviews and was not disappointed, the room itself was large clean and well equiped, the bathroom was great with a jacuzzi bath which we were not expecting but thoroughly enjoyed, the evening entertainment is more suitable for an older age group than ourselves, which didnt bother us because the hotel is close enough to everything that you could go out in the evening instead. The food was great and caters well for people with any gluten intolerrences etc, the staff were friendly and helpful, we will be coming back again,

Two very acceptable nights in the GrandThe fact of staying in such a 'grand' building with its beautiful dining room views is worth the stay without any other consideration. My room was behind one of the corner decorations on the 6th floor and had no view but for £75 for the two night D, B, B what should one expect. The furnishings I would have put in my own home, very nice 30s stuff. The jakusi was an unexpected delight and I was generally well satisfied. Cleaning was minimal during my stay but OK. I also felt free to wander and see the place and be in touch with it. I shall take my wife next time and I'm sure she'll enjoy it.

We booked a premier room and this entitled us to a sea view. All the premier rooms were full but we were given a suite of rooms at the very top of the hotel which was fantastic for us but no good for somebody unable to climb the stairs. The food in the premier restaurant was plain but extremely well cooked and presented. The hotel is in a fantastic location right near the beach and Scarborough has a lot to offer.

My expenses are paid for by my company. The Grand hotel would not let us charge anything to our rooms and had to pay for the rooms on arrival, very dissappointing. We were the only people there under the age of 70. We chose not to eat in the hotel so I can't comment on the food. On departure I couldn't obtain a VAT receipt.

wouldn't recommend it!Lovely old looking hotel from the outside but badly in need of refurbishment inside. Downstairs not too bad, lovely views from the restaurant but bedroom was really shabby, cracked walls, wires hanging out roof, old & dirty looking! The bed was really old with springs poking through....very uncomfortable! Food could have been a lot better.....waited 20mins to see if starters would be topped up at dinner & gave up, veg was overcooked and soggy and rest of main course very average! However the desserts were lovely!
