We wanted a comfortable room as we were staying 6 nights so we could use Nice as a base to explore neighboring towns. The location was perfect for this, as the hotel is situated exactly between the railway and the old town, and therefore quite close to the busiest and touristy streets. It felt safe and was very convenient- shops everywhere. The room was basic, comfortable and clean, and it was to our advantage we got a quiet, back facing room- because though it's on a pedestrian street, it's still noisy! The location and the hotel lacks personality and charm- as does the woman at the front desk. We were apparently on a non smoking floor, but smoke still drifted in from somewhere, which is our main complaint. We enjoyed our stay here, but if we were to experience Nice in it's own glory, we wouldn't stay here.

We spent 5 days in Nice (June 2009) and found the Grand Hotel Le Florence to be well situated (off of Ave. Medicin which is the main shopping street in town) and very short walk to Place Massena. The location is very good. However, the hotel itself is small and dingy and does not feel clean. There were ants crawling in my bathroom. The hotel only has cleaning staff in the morning. So on the days that we decided to sleep in after staying up the previous night, we would be told that we wouldn't have our rooms cleaned that day because the cleaning staff isn't around anymore. THe thin walls makes vacuum noises and housekeeping activities extremely disruptive to those who are not up by 9AM in the morning. Even on days when housekeeping was performed, the cleaning lady did not provide new soap/shampoo for 2 of the days. The front desk is not as helpful as can be. There is one guy who is very nice, but the other 3 receptionists who takes different shifts during the day are impatient and doesn't seem that knowledgeable about the area. Defintiely NOT a subsitute for a hotel concierge. For the price you're paying, I'd stay somewhere else in Nice.

My wife and I, really loved the hotel, very well situated, easy access to any where,close to the bus station, 15 minutes from the airport. we had breakfast,was nice and simple,but we thought that was a bit expensive, 11 euros per person,but wasnt a big deal. the staff were lovely,very friendly and helpful,i definetely recomend and would be back.

Because of a rail strike in Italy we were unable to reach Nice on July 7, the first night of the 4 nights for which we had reserved and prepaid. We tried to reach the hotel and the numbers listed by Travelocity, but could not. When we arrived on the 8th, even though we had prepaid, the room had been given to someone else and we were told that we were out of luck. They did eventually give us another room, but it was extremely small and we were made to feel that we were at fault.

enjoyable stay in nicei found this hotel to be very good,my french is pretty basic but the staff here were very good,our room was on fourth floor right next to lift but hardly heard any noise,the room itself was small but adequate the bathroom was fine the shower cubicle was a bit small but i am over six feet tall and coped ok.the hotel is pretty central and i would recommend it .Ididn"t eat breakfast so cant comment but the lounge bar on 1st floor is very comfortable.

We were only in Nice for one day and one night, but we wished it would have been longer. The staff was very helpful and suggesting where to go. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The location was very close to the beautiful beaches of Nice and the center of town. The only issue was a bad smelling shower curtain that kind of made you want to get out of the shower as soon as possible - the only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating. Other than that one little problem, everything was great. The wireless internet worked great in the room too, which was very convenient. If we return to Nice, we will definitely stay here again!

This is an excellent hotel at a moderate price. Located one half block from a major shopping street with many excellent restaurants and shops in the area. Easy to walk from hotel to beach, or old town. About a 5 block walk to train station. Room is small but nicely furnished. Mattress first night was terrible. I asked for another room, and they suggested they change out bed while I was touring the next day. Second night - much better sleep. Hotel also close to bus station. Suggestion when traveling to Monte Carlo from Nice: Take the bus instead of train. Beautiful bus ride through the hills with spectacular views down to the sea.

Cozy little hotel on a pedestrian street (off the main shopping street) halfway between the train station and beach (four short blocks either way). Small room, but clean, nicely lit, quiet, safe, AC-ed, and free wireless internet for your laptop! Very helpful, English-speaking staff. Great for the single traveler or couples with a budget.

great location - but some clear drawbacksfriendly, accommodating staff and a great location. However the hotel is very faded inside and the outside was being renovated - so swagged in coverings and scaffolding. Our designated t room was therefore very dark and with no view at all and the furniture very dated and the bathroom very small. We were moved to where we could see out of windows without fuss. However breakfast - which we had been looking forward to, was not worth 11 euros - we found cheaper and better elsewhere, also coffee cups in our rooom were not cleaned or removed for the four nights we stayed there. in addtiion one day we came back and found they had cleaned the carpet - which remained wet for the last two days.

A wet weekend on the RivieraHotel is located 20metres from the main shopping street and a ten minute walk from the train station where the airport express bus 99 stops.All the reception staff were very friendly and helpful and forgave my attempts at pigeon French.The old town is a twenty minute walk and the tram goes straight down the main street near the hotel.We walked to the train station and caught a train to Monaco for 6.60 euro - it took about 30 minutes.I would use this hotel again as a base to explore the area.

We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again. The room was small but the services were very good. Internet was excellent and we loved the English language TV channels. Staff were friendly and helpful and the location was perfect, easy to get from the station and close to the old town.

This hotel is located in heart of everything, and the old Nice is just minutes away as well as the train station or bus service to the airport. I enjoyed the opportunity to browse the shops and see more of Nice before reaching the beach. The staff are very friendly and attentive, yet easy going at the same time. I liked how the staff in the italian restautants next door communicated well with the hotel staff and customers. I'd stay here again, definitely.
