I booked two rooms at this hotel one my myself and one for my parents, compared to the pictures on the net it didnt compare at all, the rooms were very tired and dingy, this hotel needs a facelift, its not awful but for the money you can definitely do better.

it is definitely not 4 star more like 2 and a half the room they gave us was terrible the carpet was badly stained and the drawer where the the cups were kept were badly stained. not good at all. the laundry that was on the seventeenth floor wasnt there? talk about fawlty towers i wont stay there again

Air-con was very poor, did not work at all, couldn't sleep all night because I was so hot. Room did not live up to expectations, very dated. Hotel rated at 4 stars, really more like 2.5 stars. However the Buffet Breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had.

My wife and I were delighted with this hotal and we have already told a number of our freinds that if they have to stay in Melbourne then stay at the Grand Chancellor, if we have to come back to Melbourne then we will again stay there. Regards

We ordered room service and the food was pretty bad, one meal was cold and not cooked. Rooms are very old, double bed sunk in the middle. Roof top pool was nice. Would not stay here again

Air-con in room very noisy & not working effectively. Hotel rather old & rundown. Buffet breakfast just OK.

We upgraded to a deluxe room with a view - the standard rooms are regular size, but somewhat dated. Advise not to stay in the higher floors, as the water pressure really drops. Good hotel for a sleep and shower - not one to stay in if you're after little luxuries.

thank you to everyone at the Grand Chancellor, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the service was great. I would definately use your hotel again. Kind Regards

Pleasant stay. Decor requires updating, and tv a little outdated (we had to keep adjusting the double adaptor in the wall as the tv kept turning off. Great location in walking distance of everything. Parking/valet a little less to be desired after they scratched my car moving it.

I was upgraded to a superior room for an extra $20.00. Very nice and clean, helpful staff. Only moan was noisyish air con vent over the bed.

Staff were friendly, room was clean & comfy with fast lifts and great views of the city (from between buildings), smack bang in the middle of the CBD only a short walk to Vic Market, Federation Square, Southbank, and Southern Cross station for the airport shuttle bus. One street away from China town so getting great food was easy! Buffet breakfast is recommended.

I stay there once a year and each time the rooms seem to get worse. Either smaller or dingier... Staff were pretty good.

I stayed with family in 3 executive rooms at this midrange hotel which has a great location in the centre of Melbourne. The rooms were a generous size and pleasantly decorated. Although the bathroom was a little small it was perfectly adequate. We got a fantastic deal through "rates to go" which included a great breakfast. I can't comment on the efficiency of the air conditioning as the temperature was only in the low 20's, although we did all wake up with slightly dry throats. Reception staff was both courteous and very helpful. We certainly would be happy to return to this hotel for our next weekend away.

The staff at the hotel were very professional, but also very warm and welcoming. As we had never been to Melbourne, they were also very helpful, particularly providing directions to the venues we were to visit, along with the best mode of transport. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts at the hotel - a real feast. The location was excellent.

Ideally placed in CBD, very helpful staff, food and service great, would definitely recommend.

The foyer, bar and dining area were lovely but once the lift doors opened on our floor (5th) it was very disapointing. The chest of draws in the room could not be used as the door handle from the main door stopped the draws from opening. I probably wouldn't stay again.

Nice room, a little smaller than I thought, and with an average view. Nice pool and gym facilities. In hotel Dinner, Breakfast and room service was A1!
