This was an amazing location. The two restaurants had excellent food and I am a dietitian. I would recommend checking out bikes and riding around town-so much fun and we really got to see alot. My only complaint was our room was to close to the lobby and was very loud and hard to sleep. Ask for a room far away from the lobby. Also, if you don't have kids there is an adult resort next store, owned by the same resort. Beautiful place! You might want to stay there. More quiet than Cancun and great restaurants and shopping within walking distance from hotel. I felt very safe.

Absolutely wonderful!! This was the first all inclusive experience for me and it was great. The food was wonderful- if you wanted something that was not on the buffet- just ask and they were EXTREMELY accommodating-serrvice was exceptional. Loved the fresh flowers in the room- the towel art on the beds each day. Can't complain about anything. Look forward to going back!

Thought the hotel was great. It gives you so many options - with food, you have a good choice of restaurants and the kids can help themselves to a wide selection at the buffet. With the location - you can choose a day relaxing by the pool, just walk 5 mins to the lively 5th Ave or have an trip out to wonderful Mayan sites. Didn't need to rent a car.Room was clean, well maintained and comfortable. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. There was no pressure to tip but I was happy to do so. Mexican min. wage is approx. 5 per day so a small tip can make a big difference.

We had a short stay at the Gran Porto Real, but the service, and comfort in those couple of days were great. Due to a delay in our flight, we weren't able to make it on our schedule date. We were not charged for the night eventhough it was part of our contract. 5th street is 2 minutes from the hotel, there you can find multiple shops, restaurants, and bars. Overall our experience was great.

The hotel was very beautiful and clean. The food in the buffet, Italian, and Mexican restaurants was excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was in a great location within walking distance to the 5th Ave. and Cozumel ferry. The VIP room was nice to have after the bars closed. We would definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel in the middle of Playa Del Carmen. Roooms were very nice but the rest of the hotel was not so nice. No A/C anywhere except rooms, there is no beach that is good enough to swim in, service was slow, loud hallways at night, sushi bar was not open and the bar was always running out of bananas. Many activities for the kids and a OK show at night for everyone. Stay at this hotel if you like shopping on 5th street, but don't like swimming in the surf.

We were just looking for a quick getaway. This hotel was much better than other reviews had described it. For Playa del Carmen, after the hurricane that destroyed the island a few years ago, I thought it was great. The staff was extremely accomodating and the room was great. This was a great place to relax and hang out at the beach, although I will caution, there are children everywhere at the pool and inside the hotel and it does get a bit noisy at times. Especially in the early morning. I would definately go back.

"There are sandbags everywhere - you can't even get into the ocean. The drinks are soooo weak and the bartenders are rude and ignore you, unless you have money flashing at them. Tip jars are everywhere."

Included watrsports cost me $10 dollars because attendant did not inform me of any rules. We took out loaner after it was closed with their permission then was charged and scolded for returning after they closed.Cleaning staff barged into our room after I had obviously left. Luckily my wife was still in there as luggage was not locked.

"We received this trip as a bonus from my husband's boss, so it is hard to complain. But the food at the buffet was awful, the drinks were weak and the beach was non-existent. Both my kids got sick even though they only consumed bottled water. Sand bags at the beach made it completely unswimmable. The sales team hounded us constantly trying to get us to committ to a time share presentation."

"It was our first all-inclusive resort. It was wonderful. This isn't the place for families. The food was good - be sure to go to Asiana. All of the pictures on line are exactly what the hotel looks like. The rooms were great with a 2 person jacuzzi. We drank at breakfast, on the beach, at lunch, for dinner, bottles of champaige in our room - everything is included. Be sure to give Lopez at the pool bar lots of tips!! This hotel has the BEST beach on the strip. Be sure to walk 2 blocks to 5th Ave. Tons of shopping, bars, restaurants, and nightlife. Take the ferry to Cozumel! "

"We had an ocean view room, could see cozamel, the beach is easy to get too the ocean is not real rocky, the pool is great. The employees were very attentive. "

"Had a wonderful time! Fabulous variety of food, but so so. The two restaurants (Mexican and Italian) available for dinner were very good (versus buffet). All-inclusive drinks made it very worthwhile. Nice selection and no skimping...if you say ""mas tequilla"" you get MAS tequilla:-) Rooms fabulous. We had an ocean view Jr. Suite and loved it! Perfect location. Just two block from the main 5th Street. I would highly recommend for anyone - single or couples. A bit on the lively side, so if you are looking for total tranquility, this may not be your spot. "

This hotel was overpriced and the worst money we ever spent. The food isn't even wedding worthy and we went to the bar and ordered Jack and Cokes and they told us they were out of Jack as we are looking at a bottle on the shelf.

The staff was exellent! Especially the sports entertainment staff-made our stay fantastic & fun! The food was good-especially the Mexican food restaurant! The room was clean & very nice. They made us feel special the ENTIRE stay! I would recommend it & we will likely revisit. It is well worth the price.

"Went for our 25th anniversary & had a fantastic time.Upgraded to a Jr. Suitew/oceanview. Wow, they put us right on the beach w/ fantastic view even from our bed. The rooms are elegant & large w/ spacious bath & shower area.We ate at all their restaurants & enjoyed them all. was most Enjoyed the specially made omelet every morning. Then drank lots of Tequila!Wonderful service. You feel like a princess. Great beach & pool. We liked the smaller beach swing bar & loved the bartender. Just a short walk up town. Would go back in a heartbeat!!"

"We just came back from our vacation, we had booked Real Playa del Carmen but when we arrived we di nt like it and upgraded to the Porto Real, it was GREAT the standard room was ok but the amenities, drinks, service and food were incredible. The staff greeted us with drinks at the reception and treated us like royalty throughout our stay. The buffet offered good variety and there are chefs there that will cook what you ask, at night there is live music at the buffet. We cant wait to go back!"

"We spent six nights in the hotel for our honeymoon. The rooms were beautiful. The drinks were definantly great. The food at the international buffet was good, but the Italian and Mexican restaurants were not good.It was not what we expeted of when we think of that food. The beaches are beautiful in Playa del Carmen, but not in front of the Gran Porto. If you walk down the beach either direction, the beaches are great for swimming, but they are terrible in front of the hotel. There are lots of boats, and sandbags. But all around, the trip was an amazing experience for us."
