Gran Melia Cancun exceeded our expectations, My wife and i stay at hotels around the world alot, in our stay with Gran melia we were very surprised by what we found. Gran Melia has excellent staff, excellent service, beautiful rooms and great food. if you want a hotel that beats all others Gran Melia is the one. May I even dare say that "Gran Melia Royal Service" walks all over the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.

From the time of arrival to the time of departure, employees treated us with respect, gratitude, and most of all were very hospitable. Restaurants and the pool at this hotel exceeded our expectations. Scenery was very green and lush. I have no regrets about the Gran Melia. My only regret was having to leave Cancun. Since this was our first time in Cancun, any questions that we had, people went out of their way to help us. We will be returning in a couple of months. Next time, our time in Cancun will be longer.

I have stayed at this hotel once before and like it even though I prefer all inclusive. This time things went wrong. Rooms weren't ready on time of check in. We headed for the beach and in the first 10 minutes we were there a member of our party stepped on a medal spike in the ocean. It didn't go all the way through his foot but it really caused problems. The doctor at the hotel did do very well. The rest of our stay, we were very cautious when we walked on the beach and into the water. We dealt with that the rest of our trip. The beach is very rocky and almost totaly gone. We ate at the hotel a few times, very expensive. The best was just to order food when we were sitting around the pool, easy and quick. We had mold in our room, several places on the walls. Only about half the time we had hot water. Other than that the room was clean and nice. This was my second stay at the Gran Melia. I wouldn't give this hotel a third chance!

The Gran Melia was beautiful. Our ocean view was surreal. The color of the ocean was the most brilliant turquoise we had ever seen. It is just an inviting place to relax. Only down note would be the strong sales approach to purchase a vacation unit. We spent half a day listening...need to take your "gifts" and run.

Lobby atrium was beautiful! Only two could be in a room. Very nice hotel, beautiful location and wonderful lobby atrium to relax in. Food sites were more upscale than for families. Only complaint is that only two were allowed per room so was not very family friendly price.

Having traveled to Cancun several times over the last 15 years and having to abandon our usual hotel of the Omni, we found this hotel to be the best. The interior spaces of the hotel were gorgeous and really accentuated the fact that of being on vacation in a tropical local. The room was fantastic and the price could not be beat. The beach was perfect for both sunbathing with plenty of chairs and palapas as well as being a great swimming beach. The service on the beach was great. The restaurants in the hotel were average. The location on the island is the best not too far from downtown, not to far from the airport but not on the busiest part. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

The was a great trip - overall - for my first time in Cancun. The weather was great, people were nice, and activities in the Hotel Zone were fun. The Gran Melia was beautiful with attentive staff and meticulous grounds. However, even with that said, entertainment at the hotel was lacking and I am sad to say, but I think they have bedbugs!

I will start by saying that this hotel is quite lovely, the location is right on the beach and the rooms are beautiful. The pool was large and sprawling so there was no crowding, no matter how many people were playing and the pool bar was a fun touch. I had a massage in the spa and it was a wonderful experience. The cleaning staff are not intrusive yet they maintain the cleanliness of the rooms wonderfully well. The hotel is so large though that it can be confusing, there is no air conditioning inside the hotel public areas so it's muggy in the lobby and it's hard to find your way around. The attitude of the staff is that you shouldn't have any need to leave the hotel which is NOT the way we travel. When asked about a restaurant outside the hotel the front desk staff seemed confused that we'd asked about a place outside their domain. We didn't bother to ask about local sights. The one notable exception was a young man named [...] who was one of the hotel concierge staff. The "security" staff had an almost gestapo like paranoia regarding our comings and goings. That was interesting. This is a "time share" type of hotel so be prepared to hear their spiel. They did offer cool gifts (we snorkled the reef on their dime) for listening but the pressure was intense and they got a little personal when it became obvious that "no" meant no. I had a real desire to tell the little man trying to get us to buy that the reason we'd agreed to "waste his time" was because he was offering free stuff. While I would recommend this hotel on the rooms, the pool and the beach be aware that they are sure that they are an island unto themselves and look elsewhere for any information on restaurants other than the ones in the hotel. The price for the hotel stay was reasonable and the times we did eat in the hotel restaurants the food was good and the prices were reasonable. Beautiful hotel with a friendly staff. Perfect location on the hotel strip in Cancun. Water in the pool was cooler than I like. Not enough pool chairs. Enjoyed the Melia. Room was comfortable with efficient maid service. The pool area was great however, we were there week before Easter and it was very crowded with families. This meant a shortage of pool chaises. The breakfast buffet was full of a variety of breakfast foods to meet anyones taste.

I recently stayed at the Gran Melia Cancun and must say it is certainly one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in Cancun. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the view from hotel room is wonderful as well as the hotel main floor. In the early evenings they have live music in the main lobby floor of the hotel which ranges from classical to marengue music and ends no later the 11pm. We went in Febuary and weather was in 80's with plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas available . The two pools were clean and never crowded ! Resturants were a little high in price but food was excellent!!!, We ate in hotel 3 times and rest of week had dinner in town at different places, good choice to eat in town is Isla Mall about 10 spots to eat at and Kukucan mall both very reasonalble and aout 7 minutes away by bus which is 65 cent US, Cancun buses are constantly running and area very safe. Directly across the street from this hotel is a place called the shrimp bucket and a must visit if you enjoy shrimp and fish. The Gran Melia has one time share program which they try and get you to check out for 90 minutes if you choose to as we did you will get 100.00 to use at any restaurant in hotel and in addition discounts on any excursion you choose . we went on the Itza Chichen ancient ruin tour and had dinner at the tempo restaurant in hotel and very very good. Also if you take the 90 minute promotion tour which we declined membership no one bothers you again during your stay .Plants, vines and ponds with fish through out hotel very nice!!

second time in cancun. we reserved a deluxe ocean view with a king size bed. when we arrived they front desk clerk said that he didnt have any deluxe ocean view rooms available with a king bed. we found that very hard to beleive considering the occupancy that month was around 30%. we were offered no compensation or upgrade and the clerk was rather short and rude. i am not one to complain but i found that very dissapointing. the only other negative was that when you ordered a mixed drink they put close to no alcohol in the drinks. you are best off to buy a cooler and alcohol from across the street. the pool and beach were spectacular. the rooms were very neat and comfortable. honestly the staff really could care less about you, they were short and rude. we basically kept to ourselves and didnt let the negatives stand in the way of us having a good time.

this hotel is beautiful and clean. however, breakfeast was $21 p/person. we did not dine in not once here because the food and drinks were so expensive. The rooms are clean, the restrooms were very nice. the lobby is beautiful but it was very humid since they dont have a/c. the location was not so great because its not that close to the entretaiment. the orbitz guy wasent helpful and i felt as if they ripped us off because we found a guy that did some of our activities for chaper. do not book your activities online, you will find them chaper in cancun, they will negotiate prices w/ you. there is some beach here, the waves are kind of big but there is a beach. the pool is very relaxing. the buses are cheap 7.50pesos but at 2 or 3 there not many of them. you can just take a cab for 50 to 70 pesos which is like 5 or 6 dollars. coco bongo was the best, along with congo. senior frogs was not as good as i tougth. at our check out there was calls i made to the us i ended up paying 70 dollars for those. even when i would dial and they wouldent pick up, that was a ripp off. we would stay here again if they offer an inclusive paln for cheaper. its about 1000 dollars more per person. we got a lagoon view that was not bad, of course not better than the ocean view but ocean view is very expensive. i recommend a hotel closest to the nigth life and to restaurants. we went downtown to eat almost everyday and we would spend about 130 pesos which is like 10 for both of us. negotiate with people at the market for soulveniers. ohh my god and every askes for tips including the bus drivers and tour guides. we spent about 40 bucks tiping everyone..once we got the point we wouldent tip so much...but it was already too late.
