Hotel facilities include twenty bungalow style rooms, a beautiful open air ranch for breakfast and a swimming pool area. All of Gran Arenal facilities have a beautiful view of the Arenal Volcano. Many birds, butterflies, iguanas and sloth live in the great variety of tropical trees found in the 2.8 acres of hotel property. The hotel has large garden areas to enjoy, with many beautiful plants native to the Arenal region.

We found this place to be very clean and quiet. Staff is friendly and helpful (although not the best english-speakers). Location is fine -- its less than a mile from the center of town so convenient to other activities. Very quiet at night (we could hear the gentle sounds of a river running by our cabin!). The only downside is the entrance to the place from the (dirt) road is a little run-down.

Our family of five fit comfortably into a family "bungalow" - two double beds with trundle beds. The staff was excellent, the breakfast included was very good, espescially the fresh fruit. Nice grounds and view of volcano beautiful birds and tree sloths and alligator on site. The only caution is that the hotel entrance was located on a dirt road (complete with potholes) approx. 1.3 KM and was difficult to find at night. Very nice area with many things to do fairly close by rental car (optimum stay 4 - 5 day).. We originally intended to stay at this hotel for 10 days and do day trips but found that the roads are VERY narrow and up and down very mountainous terranine so we needed to travel and stay closer to other areas that we viisited.

We were a group of 4 friends who decided to take a long weekend to Costa Rica. It took us a little while to find the hotel. There aren't any street names so we had the guidance of a hand drawn map to go by. We were a little skeptical when we turned off the paved road and were travelling on a very bumpy dirt road! We almost turned back until we saw the hotel sign! Our first thought is that we got gypped on the web, but it wasn't until we turned down the drive that we noticed how nice it was (local workers live in housing in front of the hotel.. a little decieving). The room was very basic. No TV or phone, but it had two beds and pullouts so there was no sharing of beds. The outside was very scenic and tropical. They even have local sloths that live in the trees around the area. The staff was very helpful in getting our tours lined up and getting the tour buses to come pick us up. The room was basic, but perfect for those who need a place to sleep after they get done from all their activities! It's just outside the city so it's nice and quiet. They have a complimentary breakfast in the morning which was really good. I would definitely recommend this place to others!
