I researched lots of hotels in Copan, cheap, medium and more expensive. In the end I chose this one because they offered 2nd night free if paying cash. $42 for a double room for 2 nights was a good deal, but the regular price of $42 for one night is too much compared to other hotels in Copan. The pros: Location! The hotel is on Calle 18 Conejo, the street that passes on the north side of the central park. It is only two blocks from the park on the same level, a 2 minute walk at most, not up or down hill either way. Big plus in Copan! The rooftop area is really nice. When in Copan previously, I spent a lot of time at a café with a rooftop area reading and relaxing. This time I could do it at the hotel with as nice a view as where I went before . They did pick us up at the Casasola Express station too. The beds were comfortable and the shower water was hot. They provided plenty of soap bars and little things of shampoo also. Large towels. Good a/c. The negatives: The e-mail I received from them 24 hours before arriving had a link to their web site that said: "Breakfast (optional: Typical, continental or american)." Also there is a photo of people sitting at the tables with orange juice and plates, etc. There was NO breakfast at all here. We are early risers and the first morning left at 7:30 and there was not even any coffee. The night watchman was the only one there and when asked where is the breakfast and coffee he laughed and said there is none. When we returned after 10am, there was a coffee pot at the reception desk with coffee. The 2nd morning we left at 8 am and the coffee was ready at that time, still no breakfast. No computer in the lobby to use, only wi-fi. Again, the web site says: "Free wireless and desktop internet." I did not bring my laptop and asked about the desktop internet per their web site and was told they would put a computer in the lobby the next day. They never did. The rooms are extremely tiny. Not much room for more than the beds. Because there is no room for a chest of drawers or stand to put a t.v. on, the t.v. is mounted high on the wall, at least 7 feet or more up. This made watching t.v. while sitting on the bed extremely hard on the neck looking up. It was somewhat easier lying down, although our room had the t.v. to the side of the beds so you were still looking straight up and to the side. Uncomfortable. If you are picky about permanent dirtiness things, you won't like this place. I felt that the sink, shower, toilet, bed sheets and floor were all clean and were cleaned each day. However, the walls had permanent stains, peeling paint, ceiling stains and lots of other cosmetic detractions. This did not bother me since I did not find any new dirt, hairs, etc. as they room was freshly cleaned. It needs new paint and wall paper to kick it up from 2 stars to 3. I would not put this hotel in the "poor" category though that they say with two green dots on this web site. Other tips: The two front rooms that face the road have windows to the road, but don't ask for those rooms. There are 6-8 kids that live in the house directly across the tiny road and they were in the street playing and yelling early morning and late night, very noisy there. Our room was near the back and was very quiet. The remote control to use the a/c cost $4 more, it is worth it. We were there in Nov. and it was cool out, but because the rooms don't have windows to the outside it was a little stuffy in the rooms without the a/c so we ended up getting it and it was nice, well worth the $4. The staff was friendly. They know a young man named José who rents horses and goes with you on a 3 1/2 tour which was great. 200 lempiras per person for an awesome time. This was the highlight of the trip for my boys. If you don't stay at this hotel, walk there and ask them to call José for you.
