Great location but the noise level is too high from the street and especially at night from the club located in the building.

Goldenes Schwert Residence hotel impressed us with its cleanliness! The room was stylishly furnished, with large windows overlooking old town's Spitalgasse - the street filled with cafes, little restaurants and night performances. Night entertainment is something to be aware of - you will get a chance to listen to both professional and amateur performers. The latter seem to appear later at night, with a wide range of styles - from national anthems to wild rock'n'roll. Quite a volcano of sounds! The hotel did not provide breakfast, though with so many venues right outside the hotel it was never an issue! Overall, we really enjoyed the place and the area, and it was a wonderful deal for its price.

The bathroom is shared, although the room had its own shower/sink. Good location, but far from quiet due to all-night revellers/bar-hoppers. Not a big deal for us, but the main hotel is a bit of a hub for gays/lesbians, and the literature they've scattered around is explicit. The hotel is average value, mainly by what is left unsaid in their write-up (what was there was true, but the shared facilities and flamboyantly gay atmosphere weren't mentioned and definitely should have been).
