Nice hotel, very well located in a charming area of Zurich. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, the rooms were clean, well appointed, even with a mini-bar option, and the bathroom (in my room #35) was enormous (yes, they provided soap and shampoo). The one thing you need to know, and which may ruin your stay here, is that there is a discotheque on the first 2 floors of the hotel and the thump/thump/thump music is every night of the week until 4AM, yes even Sunday. They do provide complimentary ear plugs. Try to get a room on the 5th or 4th floors (the farther away the better) to make your stay better.

Overall, I had a nice experience at Goldenes Schwert. From what I had read (noise from the nearby disco) about this hotel prior to arrival was true, it was not a major problem for me, but I can understand why it might be for others. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, but an early morning wake-up called was NOT received, and almost caused me to miss my flight back to the states. If I am ever in Zurixh again, I would stay at GS, if the rates are fair and comparable to other hotels in Zurich, of which there are many. The decor is beautiful, and the in room breakfast delivery was a nice touch.

Terrible noise that was caused by people the next door and night club in the downstairs. Could not sleep well even with earplugs provided by the hotel. Even we had non-smoking room tobacco was smelling there very strongly, especially nightly. Probably it was because of conditioning system. Anyway the location of the hotel was good and room beautuful but otherwise we are quite disappointed.

Every room is different, original outfit. Great entertainment in the Niderdorfstrasse, the hot-spot in Zurich's nightlife.

Stayed in this hotel last July 2008. The hotel location is great, in the old town, where tourist amenities are close by. The staff are very polite and accomodating. Being in the tourist area, the place could be noisy especially on weekends but closing the windows will alleviate the problem. Try to stay on the upper floors so that you will not be bothered by the disco bar in the first floor. Overall, our stay was very pleasant and we will be coming back in this hotel in case we will visit Zurich again.
