Had a great time at this hotel. It's location is excellent... close to all main tourist attractions, enabling you to easily walk around the center of Amsterdam. There is also a tram stop right round the corner. Dam Square and Central Station are only a few minutes walk away. So this is perfect for being in the heart of it all. Room was well appointed, and buffet breakfast (which was included in our rate) was very good. Overall excellent stay and will definitely use again in the future.

Ideally situated, this Golden Tulip is representative of the chain. I chose this property because the room rates were relatively inexpensive. If you are not familar with Central Amsterdam, make sure that you have good directions. The hotel is not on the main street, although you can see it from the main street. Decent restaurants and pubs are right outside the door.

birthday supriseWhen we arrived the room was not ready but the receptionist took our mobile number and rang us. We had booked a superior room (this is a standard room)we were told. The first room was small and there was a cushion in need of washing, dust was on the basket of over priced snacks left in the room, we asked to be moved we were then offered another room overlooking the front of the hotel. When we opened the door the housekeeper was finishing cleaning the room this had a smell of stale smoke this is advertised as a non smoking hotel the housekeeper sprayed the room and open the window and said it would soon clear. The receptionist offered the room next door which we found acceptable. There was no breakfast included in the price of the room which we found expensive and the cost of the breakfast would have been 15 euro and this was a reduced rate. The locaion of the hotel was excellent and Humphries resturant next door is excellent.

This was a good hotel in a convenient location. We were able to walk there from the train station. Our room was ready for a morning check in which was appreciated after an overnight flight. There were plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping nearby. The beds were the most comfortable we have ever slept on. The room was clean and large enough. The front desk was helpful. The only downside was the trash left on the street outside due to the club a few doors down. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay and would definitely stay here again.

I found the Hotel exceptionally friendly, helpful and clean/comfortable. I'm a gay traveller and was treated as friendly as any other guest. The room was exteremly comfortable and the location was ideal. Not only was I close to one of the gay areas but also to major sights and great little cafes and shops. I travelled alone and the hotel is in a wonderful area to feel safe. The breakfast was filling and the enjoyable. Everyone was there to make your stay enjoyable and I will certainly return next year.I recommend it to all.

The Golden Tulip is a nice hotel, very comfortable in the center of Amsterdam. You can walk just about everywhere from this location, dining, shopping, museums, etc. There is free WIFI internet available in the room which is rare in Europe, where hotels usually charge ridiculous fees to access your e-mail. Although the room was small, it was tastefully furnished and the bed was comfortable. I would stay there again when in Amsterdam.

ok for a weekend, but a bit overpricedeverything was clean and reception was welcoming. room was on the small side, but it had a massive and really comfortable bed. the water in the shower changed to hot and cold quite a bit and it took ages to get your hair wet. bring your own hairdryer as the one they have is useless. they have what looks like a built in machine and you pull out a tube to dry your hair, no use at all for long hair! I'd rather go out with wet hair than with frizzy. we didn't have anything to eat at the hotel, as there are so many possibilities in town.otherwise it was ok for a short stay. 5-10 minutes walk from the train station and right in the center but in a quieter area with a nice piazza with some restaurants just outside the hotel. I don't think we would go again though as value for money wasn't as good if you look at the size of the room.

My wife and I stayed at The Golden Tulip from 9/1/06 to 9/6/06. We walked to everything and only used the tram once. Near Centraal Station, the Red Light District, Dam Square, the Jordaan district and more. Don't underestimate this feature. Staff was helpful but sometimes not as knowledgeable as we would have liked. The room was small but clean. Free safe in the room. Close to tons of restaurants, coffee shops and brown cafes including Humphries right next door (reservation here suggested). The hotel stored our bags free of charge while we travelled to Belgium.

Great location for Amsterdam. Across the street from tram stop 2 blocks from Red Light District. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions. Parking was expensive 42euros for 30 hours at local parking garage

Great Location for central Dam but very small for priceThe Tulip is superbly located for the center of town Shops etc The rooms have BBC 1 AND BBC 2 which was nice in the morning.I felt for the price, that the room was quite small with a terrible view into other windows. I would not consider our room to be of 4 Star quality. The concierge said they weren't that full however when we asked for a bigger / better room no upgrade was offered unless we paid 10 euros each per night. Breakfast wasn't included and was an additional 20 Euros per person per day which at today's rate is nearly 20 quid!!!!! if Gordon Ramsey was in the kitchen i might of been tempted. All told its a good Hotel, perfect if your on a business trip it's nice and quiet the beds are very comfy and rooms cleaned to a high standard and the shower was great If the pound vs Euro was better it wouldn't of hurt so much worth a look in for sure.

"This hotel was fabulous. It was within walking distance to Centraal Station, Dam square and the trams ran just outside the door. Shopping and restaurants were all around the hotel, yet it is on a street without any motorized vehicles so it is very quiet in the rooms. I recommend this location to all and I will certainly stay there again."

Average hotel for the price in Amsterdam. The hotel received instructions to charge our company credit card which they acknowledged however they also charged the guest so were charged twice and getting this sorted out was hard work. Although the staff were very polite and appologetic.

Business tripWe booked on laterooms at 135 euros, by the time i had paid my city tax ad breakfast the bill was 164 euros. So not quite so good a value. Breakfast was average, buffet style but i ve had better quality. Good place to stay for an overnight busiiness venue though.

"NO room service, food in restaruant was not good... and pricey. The staff was very rude during night when asked for suggestions for restaurant. a nice 3 star, but in NO way 4 stars. Hotel NOT a good value for the money. Due to price gouging and a ""NOT friendly"" cancellation policy.. "
