Decent room (i had a refurbished room) and excellent location for nightlife and/or shopping in Leeds. Easy access to train station. Room a bit warm, but clean and tidy.

Great HotelI have stayed at the Cosmopolitan many times now and have enjoyed each visit more and more. A great hotel, in a fantastic location. Close to train station, shopping, restaurants and amenities. I was upgraded on check in to a spacious, fantastic room. The only complaint I have is that the Internet connection is dodgy at best and often fails. A lack of airconditioning is also not ideal.A special mention to John on reception who was both friendly, effecient and displayed excellent customer service

An enjoyable stayI enjoyed my stay, and consider the reduced rate of 55 pounds I paid value for money. Had I paid the full rate I would have been disappointed. The room was very warm and the fan had little effect

Cosmopolitan Hotel, LeedsExcellent location right in the centre. Didn't eat in the hotel but there was a cafe diagonally across the road that did great food. Careful with the car parking. You get it free with the hotel between 3pm-9am but they stick strictly to that so I ended up paying an extra £12.90 in car parking for another 7 hours or so.

This hotel avertises itself as recently having a large scale refurbishment into a modern and chic hotel. This is certainly true of the downstairs reception and dining area, which were lovely. If only we had slept in the reception!!!. The room was awful and had obviously not received a refurb. It was excessively hot, old fashioned, there was no cold water and the room in general was rather tired looking. The customer service was poor and un-inviting. I was really looking forward to staying here and I am very disappointed.

Car-park and serviceCustomer service was excellent apart from when we came to check-out. The complimentary parking ticket wouldn't work in the car-park machine and we were sent back to the hotel twice to get a new one. On both occasions the receptionist didn't seem to believe us and was quite rude, implying that we'd not done it right. The car-park attendant confirmed that the tickets were not working.

Rebranded but still the sameStayed at this hotel when it was the Golden Lion. I think one of the floors has been updated, the most of it hasn't. The best thing was the breakfast, nice poached eggs, so well done to the chef. The but room was horribly dated and corridor had a funny musty smell. Very odd thing going on with rubber ducks in the bathroom - no idea what's that about. And my experience would have been better without the dressing gowns and tatty old note.

Cosmopolitan hotelStaff were very friendly - happily moved one of our group whose first room was noisy. We were there as a group who went out each night until late - but there was a lot of noise from a nearby club so this might not be the hotel to stay at if you want an early night!

I stay here regularly when I am working in Leeds. In the past I have been given a refurbished room but this time I was not. So all I would say to anyone staying is make sure you ask for a refurbished room as the old rooms have old TVs with no extra channels and are dated and a bit tired looking. Nonetheless I like this place, it has a good feel to it and the staff are very accommodating and friendly.

Clearly fresh and newly decorated. Served it's purpose. Nice touch with chocs and ducks for the bath! Would certainly stay again.

Cosmopolitian HotelThe hotel has been extensively refurbished since my last visit and will be re-opening the restaurant soon (8 Jun 2009) but it already looks very comfortable and high standard. Parking in the car park round the corner and opposite is highly recommended especially when you ask for any discount at reception for overnight parking I discovered that this reduced my secure parking to zero cost. The only problem and it is not the hotels is the one way system but do not be put off as you will get there. If you arrive in front of the hotel you may very well have a (seeings long) detour to get back.

I would reccomend this hotel. It is situated well for the city. Clean and the staff friendly. My only gripe would be the breakfast at £10.95 it was reather expensive, although the rooms were value for money.

Pleasantly surprised at how nice the room was especially since was booked in on a special deal. Free wireless also very useful. Would definitely recommend.

bring earplugs! My room backed onto the local nightclub. With earplugs, I managed a night's sleep, but I pity those with children, or the generally unprepared. Room was fine: the hotel is undergoing a rebrand, and I assume my room hadn't been refurbed. Clean, equipped, etc., but dated and the bathroom wasn't amazing. They might be aiming for modern boutique, but there is a long way to go yet - this was pure early 90s.

A big improvement since the days of the Golden LionI stayed here when it was the Golden Lion a couple of years ago. Although still in the throes of being refurbished, it is obvious the end result will be very nice indeed. My room was very comfortable and spacious, huge bed although the pillows were too hard. Loved the free WIFI which worked fabulously. I ordered breakfast in my room which was forgotten about but I wasn't charged for it when it arrived, which was a nice touch. That said for a hotel that is striving to be more upmarket than it formerly was, real coffee in a pot served with a cup and saucer would be better than what tasted like instant in a mug. Great value for money and will definitely stay again. Very pleasant staff.
