This hotel is such a great value. Maybe its not in the best part of town, but there is plenty to do in the area. The restaurant at the Gold Spike has delicious and cheap food, they have table games with low limits, plenty of slots and dollar beers. That is enough to amuze me for the weekend. There are also plenty of great bars close by. This is a great spot for a cheap trip to vegas.

Stayed at the Gold Spike bc I love the Freemont St area of Vegas. Was surprised to see that the inside of the casino has been renovated and looks pretty good. The rooms are not yet renovated but once they are I is not sure how any other hotel downtown will be able to compete. Stop in for the 1.99 breakfast. You won't be disappointed.

I assume if your going to Vegas you are a gambler. If you book your return ticket on a Sunday you are bound to be offer a free plane ticket if you wait until Monday to fly out. I've flown 7 times on one $200 plane ticket. Each time I can always count on a cheap last minute reservation at the Gold Spike. This old casino use to be a hang out place for the local blackjack players and poker player that would trade their war stories before going out to hit the easy money... I was please to see that they are bring back the card tables and have been told they will be back in action in March. This cheap casino/hotel is what it is in a good location. TV is no good, the clock radio was probably stolen, and the old carpet has a funky smell. But the rooms are available in a pinch situation

I enjoyed my stay at the gold spike. The room was cheap and the casino was just redone. The slots were loose and the drinks were cheap. Would recommend if you are traveling to vegas on a budget. Check out the restaurant for a 1.99 breakfast. What a deal!

The Gold Spike has a great old Las Vegas feel. The casino floor is clean and has a great ventilation system. The gaming, food, and drinks are cheap. It is also only a block away from Fremont St. which has many great attractions.Definately my favorite Casino in downtown Vegas!

customer service was great evening check in person. security was great. the bath tub backedup and yes nasty. if you don't plan on spending alot of time in a hotel room it's not that bad for the price. Security is very serious about their job and rightfully so. thank you security.

The location of this hotel was great! We came for BikeFest. We were only 2 blocks from the Fremont Street Experience. The rates were half of what the other downtown hotels were charging. The air conditioner worked great, the room was big with lots of drawers and closet space for our clothes. The beds were very comfortable! Drinks at the bar cost a dollar. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating. Downside: limited dining selection, carpets patched with duct tape, shabby casino and hallways, cigarette burned lampshade in our room, baseboards peeling off the walls. Overall, it was far from deluxe but it was comfortable, clean, not overpriced, and we enjoyed our stay.

When arriving at the hotel we had quite the suprise. We were sooo out of place. The hotel was very little and very smokey. Every one in the casino stopped to stare for awhile and then went back to their gambling. The check in/out desk was somewhat hard to find, it was in the middle of the casino next to the elevators and only one person was maning it. The person at the check-in desk was not very friendly and the customer checking out did not seem to happy. The room was filthy, the carpet was stained and we did not want to walk on it without shoes on. There were bugs in the bathroom and we saw a few very large spiders in the room. There was almost too much water pressure in the shower and the drain did not drain. When notifying the staff about this, they did nothing. We were concerned about our safety and the saftey of our stuff in our room, so we kept everything locked!! We will never stay at this hotel ever, ever again and do not suggest it to anyone else!!!

The Gold Spike in Vegas is not a very nice place. Carpet has a lot of burn holes, the beds were awful and the desk service was bad. Will never go back.
