Description:
The Edwardian-style Glorietta Bay Inn is a mansion located across the street from historic Hotel Del Coronado and the beach and approximately nine miles from San Diego International Lindbergh Field Airport. Built in 1908 as the home of Sugar Baron John D Spreckels, many of the mansion's original fixtures remain, including chandeliers, sconces, ornate moldings, marble stairs, and brass banisters. In 1977, the mansion was designated a Coronado Historic Landmark by the Coronado Historical Association. Its location is seven miles from San Diego Zoo, eight miles from Seaport Village, 20 miles from Sea World, and 30 miles from Legoland. Hotel amenities include the heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi, 800-square-foot Mansion Music Room (with its 41-rank Aeolian Pipe Organ, player piano, guest library, board games, and free high-speed Internet access), complimentary continental breakfast, and afternoon lemonade and cookies. The hotel also offers babysitting, laundry facilities, valet laundry service, computer rentals, nightly turndown service in the mansion, 24-hour front desk service, and a concierge. All rooms feature refrigerators, coffeemakers, CD players, hairdryers, high speed internet access, dvd/vcr players, dvd rentals, safes, and air-conditioning. Mansion rooms feature triple-sheeted beds with 300-thread-count linens, feathered pillows, and down duvets, and have a unique decor with original light fixtures, antiques and artwork, and, where possible, original hardware and fixtures. Glorietta Bay Inn is a 100% non-smoking hotel and pets are not permitted. Parking is available on-site for 10/night.

Perfect location, close to beach, shops and excellent dining. Only a 20 minute walk to ferry landing. Front desk staff was extemely friendly, helpful and accomodating. While the hot tub was small (maximum capacity of 4 people) there was never anyone else there when we wanted to use it. The complimentary refreshments and breakfast were delicous. We enjoyed the views of Glorietta Bay from our patio.

The hotel was very nice. The staff was VERY accomodating. Our room was very roomy (Room 558), although staff told us it was one of the larger rooms in the inn (we were NOT in the main "mansion") We were very comfortable (there were 3 of us). We had 2 large beds, a kitchen area with micro. and refrig. and sink--along with dishes/flatware, etc), and a large bathroom area with 2 sinks. Plenty of room for us. They were very accomodating with us during our 5 night stay--provided wine glasses etc for us, as well as information on various area sites/tours etc. The location was great--not in the "downtown area", but in a pleasant area, easy access and right across from the "Del" (Hotel del Coronado), easy access to all local transporation (if needed), lots of restaurants etc. within walking distance as well as fantastic beach right across the street. Would definitely stay again.

AWESOME location. Directly across from the Del so you get all the perks like walking to beach and food without the chaos of the Del, which is a zoo. The rooms are adequate size. The beds are very comfortable. Theres a pool for those who like to swim. The free breakfast is very good. It has a lot of history for those into that as well. The staff was excellent, very nice and helpful. The grounds are very pretty, lots of mature, tropical plants. Its not as fancy as the Del, but its a better value in my opinion. Beautiful beach just across the street. Great beds, good service. No chaos or random buses of travelers pouring out to look at the hotel.

Glorietta Bay Inn was a beautiful hotel with a wonderful, courteous staff. Location is right in the heart of everything and just across the street from the ocean. The room was immaculate and kept so every day, whether I slept in late or left my room early in the day. It was quiet and peaceful with the elegance of a time gone by, but kept up to date with all of the modern amenities. I WILL return and can hardly wait to do so!

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Glorietta Bay Inn. We would definitely stay there again!! The staff was very courteous and helpful. The property was beautiful. They upgraded us to a mansion room (the Coronado Room) which was stunning!! We loved the high ceilings and old world charm. We also loved the chocolates and cookies they left for us!! It's a little farther from the beach than I expected, but it was still a very short, nice walk. We loved it and can't wait to go back!

We spent a week at the hotel. There were lots of business travellers and lots of families with kids. Most of the kids were great -- but kids are kids. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic breakfast, you'd want to take your food to your room. I loved the staff and the location. Our fridge was loud and I could hear the a/c from the room next door. The first night this bothered me, but I got used to it. The grounds are beautiful.

We picked the Glorietta because of the close proximity to the Del Coronado where my wifes sister was staying. The Del was just across the street. Neat rooms, a good layout for the continental breakfast. The parking is less than half the price at the Del. If I return to Coronado Island, I will stay at the Glorietta so I can have more money to spend at the Dels restaurants and bars.

Good Stay. Hotel is beautiful, however, it is NOT worth the price. You will get your moneys worth if you stay at the El Cordova or Hotel Del Coronoado. Beds very comfortable, nice enviroment, staff friendly, carpet was very dirty and bathrooms are beyond tiny. Our toilet kept running, was annoying. Nice baloncy, beautiful view of bay. Breakfast was nice. Close to everything. But, not at all worth the cost. Pool was always full of people, no room to swim or lay out comfortably. They really need another pool!! The rooms at El Cordova at 100x's bigger, and cost less. Go there instead.

Glorietta Bay Inn Coronado was gorgeous! A renovated mansion that is immaculate. The grounds were neatly manicured and the room was incredibly comfortable. The bathrooms were spacious as well. Quiet atmosphere. The Inn is located at the end of the downtown Coronado area, but is not remote. All the restaurants are well within a short walking distance. Also, it is one block off of the beach. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the Coronado area.

The Glorietta Bay Inn is a historic mansion located in the Marina of Coronado Island directly across the street from the Del Coronado Hotel. The access to local shopping and eateries is excellent and the hotel staff very helpful. Good value for your money in a prime San Diego location.

For Coronado San Diego area this hotel is a great find, staff friendly, and they even loaned me a wireless unit for my room, no charge, the first time in a zillion hotels that I was offered this service. beats the wired internet any day of the week. Location is very good just off Orange Ave, the main drag. Price was good considering it is now summer vacation time
