These are very good quality accommodation units in a highly sought after destination. A short drive from the centre of the town of Franz Josef. Excellent value for independent travellers. SE0709 Well designed stand alone alpine villa style accommodation There is no restaurant on site but continental breakfasts can be arranged with manager on site. For those planning on self catering and travelling south down the coast, the New World supermarket at Hokitika is the best place for food shopping. A small reception area for check in and information on local activities. 20 Single rooms Double rooms Twin rooms Triple rooms Quad rooms Non-smoking rooms The one Bedroom villas have a Queen size bed in a separate bedroom. In the lounge a sofa bed can accommodate a third person. They also come with a full kitchen including all utensils, a dining area with seating for four people and a lounge area with sofas and TV with satellite channels. The bathrooms are modern and in excellent condition and have a large shower area (no bathtubs). All rooms have individual thermostat controlled heating Approximately 3kms north of the township of Franz Josef on the West Coast of the south island. Countryside 3 kms to city centre 133 kms to the airport (hokitika) 395 kms to the airport (christchurch) 180 km to the nearest station (greymouth) 30 minute walk to the nearest bus stop

What are your breakfast options?: Continental breakfast is available for $15.00 per person.
What transport is available to get around?: The best way to travel is for clients to hire a car. Franz Josef is along way from any major city, 5 hours from Christchurch, 5 hours to Queenstown. However there is an intercity bus that drops clients off at Glenfern Villas and picks them up again. Should clients arrive on the intercity there is a shuttle service available that is like a local taxi. Charges will apply for
this. Glenfern is located 3km north of the Franz Josef township.
What can I do nearby?: Heli Hike - Our personal favourite - an experience you'll never forget. It includes a 10 minute scenic flight over the glacier icefalls and then a 2 hour guided hike amongst glacial ice formations. The hike is followed by a short flight back to the village.
Duration: Approx 3 hours. Departure times (Summer- Oct-Apr) 09.30, 12:00 noon & 14:30(Winter-May-Sep) 11:00 am & 13:30 (weather permitting).
Price: $399 per adult, $379 per child. (10-14 years)

Glacier Experience - Includes a 3km walk to the glacier, followed by a 1.5 hour hike over pre-formed tracks on the lower reaches of the glacier.
