I had a horrible experience at Café Coffee Day located at Ginger BBSR. I ordered cappuccino for two of us. I used my overseas visa card to pay for it. Sanjit Mishra the attendant asked us to take a seat, and the coffee and the bill and credit card was going to be given at the table. We were engaged in a discussion and apparently I did not notice my card was missing, as normally I have it swiped and take it right away. Because of the different policy at Ginger—it slipped my mind. I returned back to Cuttack (where I was boarding) and realized it was missing the next morning. For 5-6 hours I called different numbers (including Sanjit) and there was no response. The Café guys did not have my card—Sanjit had it all along, and had swiped my card six times and drawn a substantial amount of money. I went on line after the weekend to check, and found the card was blocked after the money was taken out! They suspected dubious activity and took action. Thank God for that! Or else, he could have drawn the card to the max! I often wondered about this incident—how can one trust anyone in India, when you hand out your card? Apparently, Sanjit had every intention of holding the card back to use it himself! I had to go through the hassle of getting a new card! How Inconvenient! I am never ever going back to Ginger!!
