Excellent!I loved this hotel. I paid 70 euros a night which seemed a bargain price copared to other hotels that I stayed in in Europe that offered far less. What might be a couple drawbacks for people are that there is no lift (I stayed on the third level) and it's not extremely close to the train station (although it's right off the main street leading from the train the station so its easy to find, and most of the distance to the hotel could be covered by the water bus)Small but charming room with a double bed. It had a pretty tapestry bed spready and matching curtains, and fabric covered walls. A white french style desk, matching bed tables, small LCD TV, air conditioning. It had both a tub and shower and the shower had the most AMAZING water pressure (no low-flow shower head here). The room had two windows with shutters that you could open and listen to all the ativity going on. I shut them at night and wasn't at all disturbed by noise. Theres a wonderful restaurant right at the bottom of the hotel and they give you a card for a 10% discount. As I mentioned you had to climb some steps but when I arrived a hotel bellman carried my luggage (don't know if this is standard though). I found the hotel to be in a good location, very close to tons of shops and food (pastry, cafe, and restaurants). I don't believe there are any rooms facing the water, but I could see the canal from my window of my room. There was also a complimentary electric kettle in the room to make tea or instant coffee (along with cookies to go with it)Breakfast was included and was very nice. A couple kinds of cereal (a granola type and corn flakes), strudel, fresh croissants with jam in the middle, cheese, deli meat, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. They provided me with a nice map of the city with the tourist sites marked and were hellpul enough to look up train schedules for when I needed to go home.As for tipping, I did tip the person that carried my bags, the maid (left on the pillow), and th

Location is convenient and Simon is friendly! Good breakfast but little bit noisy at night. Double bed easily be shaken. Anyway, it is very reasonable hotel!

I found that the 60 years old night receptionist very friendly. He helped me with a smile on his face even though it is late at night when I came back late. Their official breakfast time start from 8am but he is willing to prepare breakfast earlier for us because our train depart early in the morning. very nice man...

We did not have one of the 'nicer' rooms -which did look much nicer than ours! The shower room was way too small in ours and we came back one lunchtime to find the sink in pieces on the floor of the showeroom. They were too full to be able to relocate us to another room. Om the + side ..hotel is in a good location.

Perfect location - 5 minutes walk from the Academia, 20 minutes from the Ponte Vecchio and 15 minutes from the Station. Florence was extremely hot and the location of the hotel allowed me to take a siesta break without breaking my daily agenda. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. Will most definitely stay at the Genesio during my next visit to Florence.

Excellent value for money, superb location in city center. Perfect for those without a car as it is not easy to park in downtown Florence. Our deal thru [website] included a pretty good buffet breakfast. Bottom line, tho accomodations a bit spartan, for the price it was a lot more than you'd expect. I'd rate it "A, awith an "AAA" for location.

The hotel was very reasonably priced and my friend and I were very impressed by the standard of cleanliness. The towels were changed every day and the beds were made. The breakfast was included in the overall price and even fussy eaters like ourselves were more than impressed with the selection. The only bad points were the fact that the hotel is on the 3rd floor and we had to carry our cases up - fine for us but less suitable for anyone who would struggle lugging a case up 3 flights of stairs! And the bathroom was more of a 'wet room' - very good shower fitting, but no shower division, just a drain on the floor - that took some getting used to, but was fine for the few days we were there.A word of advice for those visiting florence though - it is a fabulous city but WATCH YOUR BAGS. there are a lot of shady characters there, and a friend of ours was robbed as we left the airport, and we saw several other people who had been robbed too.

Very good service from all staff members. Very clean with great, fluffy towels. Our bathroom was so tiny, however, that you had to sit "sidesaddle" on the toilet seat. Also, the lift was out of bounds to hotel patrons. Generous breakfast and good location.

The hotel is on the 2nd floor and there is no lift, so would not be suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties. Customer service depends on which member of staff you speak to - one was extremely helpful, another quite abrupt. It's quite a long walk to the station, however it is possible to catch a bus nearby.

Hotel Genesio was a great find, especially in Florence in August! The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the room was cosy and very clean. Breakfast was pretty substantial, and all at an excellent price for the season and location. The hotel was 10mins walk from the Duomo, with plenty of restaurants, bars and supermarkets scattered nearby. Those with heavy luggage, buggies or mobility problems,be aware the hotel reception is up a couple of flights of stairs, but not unmanageable. Hotel Genesio is a great find, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or stay there again. P.S. Remote controlled airconditioning was a HUGE bonus!!Thank you Simone for the good advice on places to see and the hairdryer!
