Well situated, a bit loud a night but perfect for a short stay. Recommended.

The generator hostel is one of the worst hostels i've ever stayed in. My friend and I had to share a room with two other strange guys, one of which liked getting up in the middle of the night and shaking my bed!! I slept on a wet matress, my friend on a air matress which had a hole in it. The building itself looks like the castle of the wicked witch of the east from the wizard of Oz which was renovated when we stayed there. We had to get in through a window. Avoid this hostel by any means possible!

Stoping for a nightIt was ok - When all you need is a clean bed at the end of a day trip after all the sightseeing, waiting in queues and tired of walking around, that you will get.It is nothing special, facilities are basic but clean. They have a bar and a kiosk.Remember that there will be a lot of people around, not only in your room, but staff, cleaners, etc, at any time, so keep an eye on your belongings.

I simply cannot believe that with so many people the place is totally spotless all the time--the showers, bathrooms, the bedroom they gave me; the sheets. Totally unbelievable. And the fantastic entertainment in the bar. And the breakfast service and the lounge with the internet access. I would recommend it to everyone. And all the personnell were super super polite.

loud loud loudi suppose you get what you pay for. But I had a meeting in the morning, so was not happy that the room was right next to the club / karaoke room. There was screaming and horrible dance mixes until 3am, as well as michael jackson tributes as he had just died. Fine, but combine that with the snores and farts of the people in my dorm, and people whispering in the next bunk in Danish, and I got no sleep. It was hellish. I was happy to leave.

the worst hotel i have ever stayed inwe feel that we were totally mislead about this 'hotel'. My partner even phoned to confirm the our booking and to check that this hotel could provide a cot for our baby-which they couldn't. We asked if we could bring our own cot and put it in the room, which we were told we could. The person confirmed to us that we had a family room and a single room. When we arrived this was not the case. Our collegue was in a room of six in a single bunk-not a single room and our family room was a joke-there was no room to get the buggy in let alone to put his cot up. The bathroom facilities were not something that i would wish to repeat and the offer of all you can eat breakfast included in the price is a total farce as it was cereal and stale bread,no wonder its all you can eat-you don't want it, even the tea and coffee were disgusting.if we had arrived earlier we would have not stayed but due to our late arrival we had no choice. The windows didn't open enough to let any air into what can only be described to our prison cell. The staff were surly and unpleasant and offered no help in getting into the hotel with the baby and buggy which we had to carry in up two flights of dangerously steep steps. When we asked about using the disabled entrance it was very complicated to get to and when asked to repeat where it was we were blanked by the staff. I am so annoyed about this whole sorry saga, i would never stay in this poor excuse for a hotel and would be hard pressed to let my dog stay there. The £80.00 we paid would have been better spent giving to the homeless and for us to sleep on a park bench.

One of the best hostels in LondonThis hostel is located off Russell Square tube station and is worth going too. The staff were very friendly and put me in the right area for my needs. The room was clean and quiet. There was overnight staff on premises to prevent constant loud taking and banging that you get from other hostels. The shower and toilets were well maintained and were the best I have seen in an hostel. The breakfast was mainly self service of hot beverages/juice/cereal and toast. They offer a full breakfast for an £2.00. I will be using this hostel again for future London visits.

Not greatI don't recommend this hotel if you expect to sleep during your stay.Nice staff at reception and quite clean, but the rooms are so small and it's terribly noisy. Between people in the corridor, people staying in your room and arriving after you or even snoring, and these sort of fire alarms suddently on in the middle of the night a couple of time, you won't really sleep.Didn't try the breakfast so can't say anything about food.I suggest to go there only if you go to london to party with many friends, but in other circumstances, you should book somewhere else.

Hostel is cheap but extremely basic - grubby carpets, tatty showers, little clothes storage in rooms, pop music background.Staff v. brusque. At 12:30 two hammered on my door, demanding to know how many people were sleeping in my (single) room. At 1.15 I was awoken by two staff bursting into my room with a skeleton key, without even knocking, to check on occupancy. It felt v. frightening, like a police raid. I would certainly never risk staying there again.

Friendly staff and scary decor ,clean place and good cosmopolitan spirit pervades. Mostly full of young travellers but equally good for more adventurous middle era people :-)

I am not a person who complains often, but this was maybe the worst night I have experienced. There was noise through the whole night; slamming of doors and highly talking in the corridoors. So I had bad sleep and did not feel well, as I got up at 5 am and left the place.I am going to write the hostel to make a complaint towards them.

Stupidly I hadn't properly spotted that it was a shared bedroom! I went to bed at 11 and was woken up by 2 other people coming in at 3am. I had my revenge when my alarm went off at 6am.....

On arrival the hotel room was disgusting, had not been cleaned since the last guests checked out, overall the hotel/hostel was very basic. Value for money was not bad, but thankfully I was only staying for one night.

This is a hostel and so has lots of international travellers but if you are looking for a place just to get your head down and spend the minimum amount of money then this is definitely worth considering. The Bar is open till 2am. Internet connection available. Obviously being a hostel their is no en suite faciliaties but if you can cope with communal living for a night then book in.

Exactly what you'd expect from a hostel. Cheap and cheerful with a unique friendly young atmosphere. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.Breakfast was simple cereals, toast and coffee which was great for the price of the place. Excellent location less than 5 minutes from Russell Square tube.
