Great location, clean rooms, very down to earth atmosphere

Very helpful staff, excellent location. Older decor in rooms, disrepair and unclean toilet.

I have stayed at Garretts more than a dozen times over the past 8 years. Their location is great, walk to the plaza and dining. Each of the past few times I have stayed the room quality has declined. Because of its location and price I have overlooked many problems. My stay last week was my last. I booked 3 rooms for our group, 1 couple found food made up in their bed , they asked to see another and found it so dirty they refused to stay and booked elsewhere. The other two rooms were marginal at best. I found mold in my bathroom, a filthy shower curtain and trash under the bed and behind the night stand. It is a shame as this hotels location and price are perfect for my needs. At 49 I would have been unhappy, at 111 they should be ashamed! NEVER AGAIN!

Hotel was the best value in Santa Fe, our room did not look like the picture but it looks like they are doing remodeling. Really the only complaint is the mattresses in both rooms were really bad. But location was perfect and we couldn't find a hotel in that price range at all.

Location: close to plaza in Santa Fe. Rooms were quite old and could benefit from upgrade. Room was clean and comfortable, but could use renovation. Staff was pleasant and ample parking available for a fee. Property looked nice and well kept. Great location just a short walk to the plaza. Great way to see Santa Fe on a budget. Save your money for the great restaurants and galleries.

First thing to know is that the daily charge for parking a rental car is 8/day including nights. I checked out at 5 am, but had to pay the daily rate for the day even thoiugh i was gone. I didn't squabble on the days I took day trips since they don't really check. The location is great with respect to the plaza and intra-city museums. The rooms were clean but not extremely clean. The bed was reasonably but one could feel the spring around the outside. Overall, since I didn't hang there and use the facilities(the pool was closed but the snow had just left, I didn't spend time in the fitness room) I have to say it was decent. The desk clerks were helpful. I would stay there again.

The ideal walking distance to the Santa Fe Plaza was awesome. Located one block from the historic Santa Fe plaza, this hotel is not only a classy taste of the past but also a classy touch of the present. Hospitality and reasonable accommodation prices add to the unique attractiveness of the Desert Inn.

Garrett's was excellent for staying in Santa Fe and being able to walk to almost all major restaurants and attractions. The price was great for the location. The furniture and the carpeting need to be upgraded. Despite this, the room had all the amenities and the bed was tolerable. Pool area nicely landscaped and a river and park are right outside the back of the motel. We never tried the restaurant because there were so many gourmet choices in the town. Service was very good. If you don't want to spring for a min. of * a night hotel or B& B, this is a good value.

We really liked the location of this hotel. It was very close to many of the places that we wanted to see like the Loretto Chapel. The pool was also a very nice addition!

The location was perfect for us. The hotel was clean. The beds were hard and the chairs were not comfortable. For one night it was okay. The people were pleasant and the location was perfect for what we wanted. We would not want to stay there again.

The location is great, right off the plaza. But you are paying high prices for the location, not the room. The sofa bed had the comfortability of a bean bag chair. The carpeting was torn and stained. The mini-suite has a very small bedroom with a full-size bed, not even a queen-size would fit. Nothing of luxury or even comfortability here. The small bathroom window and the bedroom window look out on the river right below. That was nice. They really need to spend some money fixing up the rooms.

Older hotel that is making upgrades. 2 blocks from Old Town and the State Capitol. Walking distance to shopping and great food. Very friendly staff. We will certainly stay their again. Good French restaurant on the premises, wonderful quiche.

Location andbasic necessities. Bed was uncomfortable and the satellite service was in/out most of the time. Also the water came out white so I felt uncomfortable giving it to my dog The hotel is old, but the rooms were clean and well stocked. My dog and I had a nice relaxing weekend there.

It looks cute and clean from the outside with new doors on the rooms and wonderful flower boxes...but, the inside was not clean. The only plus was the friendly staff. The floors and linens where old and sticky feeling. We would not even walk around w/o shoes on. The bed was so hard and the overall room was very outdated. The ad read newly redecorated, but I felt very deceived and uncomfortable. I won't stay here again as other places offer equal rates with much nicer accomadations.

Key card opened more than one room ( I mistakenly went to room next door) and locks are flimsy; bed mattresses were worn (bowed in middle). Regardless, you can't beat the location and price as Santa Fe is sooo expensive.

Very convenient to Downtown Santa Fe. Very low showerhead. A great location and reasonable price for Downtown Santa Fe. Not luxurious, but reasonable value for the price.

I call this place this the "little la fonda annex!" I have been going to Santa Fe since the 1950's and stayed at the La Fonda and have numerous times, and tried a few other hotels too---but travelling on my own, just to go and "get my santa fe fix," Garrett's is just perfect! Everything I want to do is in walking distance, the restaurants are "in your pocket," the shops, the Cathedral, Mission, Loretta chapel are really just around the corner. The Plaza is only a block away! I would recommend Garrett's Desert Inn to all!!! It places you right in the heart of the "Land of Enchantment!"

Excellent location. Had to pay for parking, smoking outside doors drifted into rooms, no screens on windows.
