The rooms were nice. The pool areas are great for the entire family. The free breakfast was delicious and it is a full breakfast. Very clean and great service. It's right off the main strip in Gatlinburg, so the location is more peaceful than staying directly on the strip.

This is a very large hotel--the second largest in the Knoxville area according to the local paper. It appears that two or more former hotels have been incorporated into a cluster of freestanding buildings. The large swimming pool and the breakfast buffet are in the main building next to the street. We stayed in a 7-story building behind it and off the street. It was quiet, with ample parking. Our 4th floor room was just across the hall from a second large swimming pool and hot tub with an adjacent exercise facility. Although the hotel was crowded, we pretty much had this pool to ourselves, and our room was incredibly quiet. The breakfast bar was only average. The building we stayed in was undergoing some renovations (one elevator had plywood on the floor) but the room was large and cheerful, the bed was comfortable, and he location was ideal. Gatlinburg can be quite hectic in the summer, and this was Labor Day weekend, but we were far enough off the beaten path to be very comfortable. This is not a luxury hotel, but it offers good value, and we will come back again.

The pictures on the Internet don't quite show the flaws in this oldie's facade. The hotel is in a nice place in downtown Gatlinburg, close to shopping and dining. However, the hotel has been around since I was a kid (it used to be a Holidome) and looks just like it did 30 years ago. The pool and game room area is nice, but the rooms are aged, the paint is cracking and there are signs of neglect everywhere. This place has some charm with its indoor courtyard facing rooms, but the owner needs to focus on perhaps losing some of the buildings not connected to the dome and update the dome/courtyard rooms.

Beware...old hotel, no vents in the bathrooms, and there is NOT an outdoor pool as the description references. We were totally mislead by the way this website describes the hotel...beware, beware. Very disappointed, and unfortunately we were not able to get a refund or cancel our reservations.

This once was the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resorts, and this hotel is a DUMP. The hotel lost the franchise license from Holiday Inn, because of so many compliants. I stayed here once when it was Holiday Inn, and got confused when making my reservation, since under a new name now. I thought it was a different hotel, until I arrived here. I was extremely disappointed with myself, after having doubts before making the reservation. I just want to let all other travelers to know that this is the old Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort. So beware!

Hotel was a bit out-dated but good for the money. No hassle about the pets, the indoor pool was nice. Te outdoor pool wasn't open which we didn't like, but the location was good, good for kids, pet-friendly. Would stay again.

We come here every year during Martin Luther King Holiday weekend. It is a FANTASTIC hotel. We stay at the Hotel every year. We hqave been to it while it was Holiday Inn Sunspree and now it is Garden Plaza Hotel. Nothing has changed except they are doing some nice renevations. I would recommend it to EVERY ONE!!!!!

Service at check-in was good. It was a great surprise to find out that we could buy our Dollywood tickets from the hotel and get the next day free. If you buy them at the park, the next day is $20 a piece, so that saved us $80! We brought our dog with us, and knew we were getting a pet-friendly room. However, when we got in, the pet odor was overwhelming. Nothing a few candles and some Febreeze couldn't handle, but still kind of off-putting. Maybe they could consider putting down a different type of flooring besides carpet to avoid the pet odor. The room seemed to be generally clean aside from the smell, but it was quite small. I was expecting that given previous reviews. The beds were surprsingly more comfortable than expected and linens were soft. We were placed in a room close to the pet area and with easy access to the indoor pool and restaurant. With two young boys, the indoor pool area is very important to us, and it was clean and not busy at all. The video game area and ping-pong and air hockey were an added bonus. We enjoyed all of it. The breakfast was ok, not the best, but considering it was free, we ate it every morning. The cups they provide are like shot glass size, so it's best to grab a coffee cup or styrofoam cup if you don't want to get up a hundred times to refill your drink. The drink selection was very limited at breakfast with only juice and coffee being offered that Iknow of. After the first day, I just brought my own drink. Overall, our stay was good, but we will not likely stay here again due to the odor issue. We have stayed at other pet-friendly hotels that did not have this problem.

My wife and I checked into the Garden Plaza on Fri. Feb. 13. I am retired. They decided our room would be directly over the lounge where a band was scheduled to play that night. We were up til 1:30 a.m. hearing loud music and yeehaws. After a bad night we woke up to no hot water. We would not recommend.

The Garden Plaza hotel is a great place to stay if you are planning on bringing that extra special member of your family...your pet! There are no restrictions that a lot of other hotels have so you don't have to worry about getting your pet weighed at check in and other annoying rules like that. The location is great! You can walk into downtown Gatlinburg without having to sit in traffic and pay for parking which is nice. It is up a small hill so the walk back up is a great work out after eating all the junk food they have everywhere in Gatlinburg. This was only our 2nd visit to this hotel and we have only stayed in the Tower section of the property. When we got to our room, I did get excited that we were on the end kind of tucked away since we did have a dog that sometimes likes to bark, but then when we opened the door, the room ended up being a lot smaller then the one we previously had so watch out for that. They did however add a complimentary hot breakfast buffet with lot's of options and it was actually pretty good, a lot better then we expected! The pancake houses in Gatlinburg are pretty expensive so this saved us a lot of money! All in all the hotel is great, especially for the money. It looks a little run down on the outside and for the price you expect it to be a dump but the rooms are very nice and they even have a small refrigerator. I do think they should add mircowaves to all the rooms as well. The only problem we had the past 2 times was with the bathroom. It's not super dirty but it's not exactly clean either. Let's just say they could have done a better job cleaning it. Overall a great trip and a great hotel for the money!
