Excellent accommodation, was worried about the sharing of a bathroom, it turned out that as there was four of us we had two rooms with a connecting extremley clean bathroom.

Garden Hotel is very conveniently located in old Riga, and also very easily accessible from the the major train station (especially if you carry heavy luggage with you). The hotel is in a nice looking renovated old building. The staff is very helpful and service is fairly good for eatern european standards. Breakfast is ok, but comparing to other meals I've had in other hotels, it's rather above the average, hosnestly. The only down point was the size of the room. Even for a single room, I'd say I felt like in a hotel in Tokyo, as a room that is about 2,5 x 3m is not really appealing. But the fact that there was a nice balcony, a fairly good size and impecably clean bathroom, and that the room was fully equiped, certainly made up for this flaw. I'd certainly recomend the hotel, and would recomend the single room if you plan on staying one or two nights max.

Very well located hotel with friendly and helpful staff. This stay was in the newer annex of the hotel - rooms were small , hot and with communial bathrooms. Would recommend trying to ensure room is in main part of hotel.

The modest building exterior gives off a poor impression for such a clean, attractive hotel. Our group stayed in probably every room "type" the G.P. offers--single, double, 3-bed room and 2-room family suite--and all were pleased with their accomodations. The location is ideal for sightseeing: just on the river edge of Old Riga, across from the Occupation Museum and a start/stop point for several "city tour" bus lines. (This location is better than one inside Old Riga in that taxis will either charge extra to drive into the restricted-access areas, or just leave you and your luggage at the gate to walk the rest of the way to an "inside" hotel.) The breakfast buffet was good, with several hot and cold food options available. The hotel staff, almost entirely Russo-Latvian, were friendly and tri-lingual. The hotel decor is a lovely 18th-century mode throughout. Two years ago we stayed at the Riga Reval and thoroughly enjoyed its busy international flair and modern charms, but for a quiet, tourist-based stay in the Old Riga district I would come to this hotel again.

Rooms in the main part of the hotel perfectly good, staff very helpful - Hotel has nice character and very well located for old town.

This hotel was excellent value for money, €55 for a single room. It was quiet and clean, location couln't be better, staff were extremely helpful, breakfast was lovely and internet access in the lobby on a rented laptop for 2LVL an hour!! Excellent! Couldn't fault this hotel!

Great location. Friendly atmosphere. Large rooms - stayed in 5th floor with roof terrace.Quality of satellite-TV connection is poor - too many channels not reachable. All in all, value for money.

Went in a group of 9 people. The hotel was fantastic value for money and was in a great location. The staff were all very friendly and our rooms were lovely. However, two of the rooms were not en-suite but when we booked (through late rooms) they didn't make that clear. The shared bathroom was big and clean so wasn't too much of a problem. Would deffinitely stay again.

Breakfast was served in a canteen style setting. Food similar to what you would expect in a motorway service area.Whilst this hotel is clean and modern it is not 4*. If you expect 4* stay elsewhere. Rooms need to be heavily discounted to represent value for money. My room , (418), was small and badly designed. No light switch at bedside and window facing into another bedroom. It should have been used as a broom cupboard

Nice room, good breakfast. The only complaint was that the girl who checked us out was quite surly and needed to learn the art of smiling and being polite. Also our room was far too hot, but these were small problems. The bar/restaurant charges extortionately for drinks, avoid completely. Overall though, a very pleasant stay.

I have travelled all over Europe on business but this hotel exhibited the worst level of customer service I have ever experienced. Location and room were really good but let down by rude and ignorant staff who do not care...... I will not be going back.

Hotel was in an excellent position in the old town behind the House of the Blackheads and the Occupation Museum. It was beautifully furnished and decorated . I did not dine in the hotel. The only disappointment was the breakfast- poor variety of cereal, juice and main course. Fried eggs were chewy and like omellette and scrambled egg luke warm to cold. \\Service was efficient and friendly. If the breakfast had been better I would have dined in the hotel. I would definitely stay here again but please do something about the breakfast.

We were absolutely delighted with the hotel. Everything was excellent from the reception staff to the porter. The rooms we had while sparsely furnished were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. A varied choice of food and all fresh. Would certainly recommend to others and would go back again. Mini bar prices reasonable too. The Nobu restaurant attached has excellent food but make sure you use the discount voucher in your room it will save you 20%.

I cannot speak too highly of this hotel, it was in every way superb for me. I found it excellent value for money, exceptionally clean (I travel on business in the UK and haven't found a hotel to touch it at 4* level I'm ashamed to say), very friendly and helpful, excellent location for the Old Town. I'm an early riser and found the breakfast very fresh and tasty. I am already planning a return visit at Christmas when I hope to stay longer and sample the sauna. I have given the \"quality of food\" a 5 rating simply because although fresh, tasty and fairly diverse I would have loved the option of having a larger cup for my coffee - I'm an addict! I chose to take the bus from the airport and the number 22 dropped me within a stone's throw of the hotel on 11th November Iela - at the junction of Greciniecka Iela (sorry if I've mis-spelled). (Single traveller, not single marital status)

Great, apart from room was not en suite, not a problem as the 2 other rooms next to ours were empty. Apart from that clean rooms, great lcd tv and good breakfast, very helpful staff on reception too. Great location, would definitely stay again.

I've just returned from a wonderful long weekend staying in the Garden Palace Hotel. I cannot recommend it enough. Location was perfect in the heart of the old town. Everything was walkable. Staff were helpful and friendly contrary to many in the bars and restaurants in the town. I was amazed at the rooms and it was such good value. Riga is a great place for a few days with lots of culture, architecture and pavement cafes. In general the service is poor but probably because tourism is just in its infancy. The tourist information needs to get better informed as gave out incorrect info. If you get a chance visit the beaches and spa town just 30 mins outside Riga. In summary, a place worth visiting before too many tourists find it.

All in all a superb value for money hotel, you would be lucky to replicate this.
