Hotel GanivetThe hotel is well located for all the major sightseeing spots in Madrid, and close to a lively area with bars and restaurants though the hotel itself is quiet. Close to La Latina and Puerto de Toledo Metro stops. We arrived a few hours early but were given a room straight away, which was very welcome. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly and spoke good English.

We arrived early to Madrid but had contacted them before regarding an early check-in. They had a room when we arrived, but it was a smoking room that smelled quite bad. To the staff's credit, they did location us a non-smoking room that was great. The big negative about our stay at the hotel was my wife had her purse stolen while we were in the hotel restaurant. In the staff's defense, the thieves were quite professional, the staff was extremely helpful with our contacting the police and made efforts looking at their security cameras to identify the culprits.

This hotel is in a great location, has a very nice lobby and cafe with reasonable prices. We walked everywhere from his location including the Prado. Loved hanging out at Mayor. Don't miss the botanical garden when you are there. Highly recommend this place.

We (a family of 3) stayed in the hotel Ganivet for 5 nights. The location was perfect as we were walking to most places. The room were made up everyday. But there was no frige or minibar in the room. The staff were not as helpful though. The first night we asked for a shop to buy some water and the receptionist told us all shops are closed, we went for a walk to have dinner and about 10 meter from hotel was a shop that you could buy what you need. The othr time i asked about places to see and they referred us to tourist information. we only had one day breakfast in the hotel and for the price of 9.50 euro was not worthed. All togetherour stay was pleasant and i will stay again in the hotel and recommend it as well.

Short Weekend Break Very central location, easy to get to from the airport with just a couple of changes and just €2 pp. Room was big and comfortable, with flat screen TV that had a couple of English channels. Bathroom was very clean. Staff on Reception and Bar were very efficient and helpful with a sense of humour. They booked our return taxi for us (very early check out) and even personally knocked on the door as an early morning call. Overall a very good stay.

Close to Metro and Plaza Mayor. Large, modern room compared to other European hotel standards at this rate. Staff was business-like but not very friendly. Unless you speak and read Spanish, you'll find this hotels' staff can be difficult to communicate with. We survived, however, and would stay again because of its' location and price. Avoid the cafeteria unless you read Spanish...no English or other language translations! We ordered something and, well, let's just say we were suprised at what we were served!

Exceptional value, comfortable (if small) rooms, excellent bathroom, very good breakfast, nice bar We walked everywhere although the metro is only a minute or two away. Everything you need at a good price.

A good hotelThe hotel is very good, modern and close to the center (10 minutes walk to the Plaza Mayor, 3 minutes to metro). Rooms clean and cosy. Very good place to stay confortably in Madrid, with the advantage of being near the center but at the right distance from the noise and the crowded places. Easy to arrive from airoport by metro (to Puerta Toledo and up or Latina and down the Calle Toledo - 2 euros the ticket - 3 different lines). The only remark is that the reception keept my ID in the check-in and never gave back to me even after the check-out. I had to ask just before leaving the hotel (when I was already thinking I had lost it). The reception also forgot to give me a message that was left for me.

Good hotel, Good situation from the center. 15mn-minute walk from the Plaza Mayor on a straight on street. Good subway connexions. Near the Rastro market that take oplace on Sunday mornings. At 5min-walk from "La latina".Nice bedroom, good service, noisy in the morning for the cleaning maids (8h30) maybe because my room was close to the cleaning room.

A great hotel in the centre of town but far enough out from the very centre so that you are not bothered by noise. Breakfast was nice with good selection of food and drink (didn't have dinner in the hotel so can't comment on that). Very comfortable stay and staff very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel.
